Some Masochist tried the Longboi I see. No surprise to see them fall back.

Thankfully I managed 1 of the 12 lappers yesterday. As I'm still in C I thought I'd try something left field. I pulled up in my McLaren which has served me quite well in the Gr1 offline races.
It's faster than the 919 on the straights and better in the corners than the Group C. So right down the middle of the road.
I was doing well. I was up into p5/6 from P13 and having a great battle with a Frenchman in a 919. I just had the legs over the lap and they would gain a lot from the Porsche curves to Tetre Rouge. However on lap 6 I span out of Mulsanne and took a while to get her pointed back around the right way due to the tyres. After that I crossed the line P11. So I gained but I would have been deep into the top 10 without that spin.
That’s hellzfire, he’s an alien, and even he couldn’t get anything out of it.

A lot of people don't bother qualifying for La Sarthe, I'm usually starting as the last qualifier in about P8 or 9.

Disappointing that they've dropped this to 6 laps, as it's taken away any strategy element now (other than start on softs, or start on mediums). With 12 laps some were 1 stopping, and some 2 stopping.

Also seems that there's no point entering unless you're in the 787B, or the R92......
Some of the top TT times were in the Sauber. Is that not a good car for the race? Too much tire wear?

It's one of those oddities - it's obviously fastest for qualifying, but not for the race. I don't quite know why, because it's OK on tyre wear.

I've been running it, as I cannot get on with the 787 or the R92 - it's very forgiving to drive, better through the bendy bits, but slower on the straights than the other two. I suspect that's the issue in the race - easy to overtake on the straights, harder to get past on the twiddly bits.

The other thing I've noticed is that the track limits seem to be more flexible than normal, or is it just that I've been lucky?

Tire wear? It's 6 laps. It's not a factor as you have to pit anyway.

Think you've been lucky as I've seen penalties all over the place and it still pings you for being a cm over the kerb on the right hander onto the mulsanne.

Sorry to be a pedant, but I LOVE being a pedant. Group C was technically an efficiency formula, so they were specifically designed for being as fuel efficient and fast as possible! It's a shame they got canned by Bernie's ego, the new HyperCar formula feels to me the spiritual successor of Group C, so don't be so down hearted about the future of racing.
Thanks for the info! I'm aware there's always "some sort" of efficiency formula. And compared to today's ridiculously stringent standards, it doesn't seem like they used much of one 30 years ago haha. Perhaps the new Hypercars are, but I don't see it. They're nowhere near as powerful or fast in a straight line.

Where is all of the speed in the supra? I've ran a dozen laps in the rs, brz and supra and was within a few tenths of each other running in the high 1:40s. I jumped into the 911 and knocked a second off in 2 laps. I've watched the top times and besides execution I don't see anything drastically different than what I'm doing. And my lack of execution should coincide with all the cars. I'm just curious what the main advantages are because those that can drive it are way ahead of what I can do with it.

LOL - What is going on this week? In a good way! 🤣

Did 3 races with a total of 18 positions gained for P3, P5 and P7 finishes 🥳🎉 I'm loving Race B this week, hoping I didn't just jinx it 🤣

Anyone else experiencing this phenomenon?!

I'm with you on Race B, it's been a blast so far! I ran three yesterday as well...started with a DFL so it was nothing but up from there. 😁

Second race was going great, started P6 and made it to P2 by the time we left T1 (cleanly, thanks). Held on to that pretty easily until the last lap. That's when I decided it'd be a good time to go rally-crossing, and just after the last turn...flippin' brilliant. Got the car back on the sticky stuff and pointed in the proper direction to cross the line P4.

Won the last run and decided to end on a high note for the day.

The only thing I'm experiencing today is getting punted like a football.

Put down a 1:38.994 in qualifying though.

The sauber has terrible tire wear for me. Did 2 12 lap races yesterday and had to pit twice in one of them. Requires a lot of managing to get those softs to last even 5 laps. Are you running tc?

Yeah I didn't have much time to practice/research before doing my first race so I just grabbed the Sauber. Had to pit twice as I adjusted brake bias far too late, lol.

I managed 7 on mediums and then 5 on softs with no problem - wear bars for rears were almost completely red though! TC2 for me

What brake bias setting were you using? I tried playing around with it but didn't find it made any difference to tyre wear.

Doesn’t everyone always have this? ;)
There's usually 16 fools in my race and not 15.
Well done! There was a lot of attrition up front in that race.

And yet we still come back for more punishment....

I never got to do race C at 12 laps. I was planning on trying it tonight as last night I ended up doing something more mentally calming than racing :D (cycling). I must admit that racing La Sarthe does not interest me that much but 12 laps in group 1 and I was intrigued.

I can possibly see why it was changed back though. Supposedly a lot of people were quitting the race part way through. Either because they did not realize the time commitment and thought it was a 1/2 hour race or they got bored and didn't like their position and so jumped on the next race as they were still on the 1/2 hour. Also if the field was low, I can see that from being 1) a time commitment and 2) that if you want DR points, this is not the best race format as you will only get 1/2 amount of points per hour of play as there is no adjustment to DR for the length of the race.

I think there is a need for endurance races. But I think it needs to be a fourth race D. Also given the time commitment I think DR needs adjusting with a multiplier for top finishes (to encourage participation) but not the the rest of the field so you are not impacted by excessive DR decline if you are knocked into an end spot.

Race A Sprint: Sports/Road/One Make/Tuner/Experimental.
10 minute races/15 minutes
No DR but includes SR (to reduce the demolition derby guys out there)
1x prize money (100K for 1st and down from that)
Variable Grid/Rolling start
12 cars

Race B Sprint: Gr.4/Gr.3/Occasional Sports with tuner options
15 minute races/20 minutes
DR (with 1x top 6 multiplier)/SR
1.5x prize money (200K for 1st and down from that)
Rolling Start
16 cars

Race C: Gr.4/Gr.3/Gr.2/Occasional one make hypercars
25 minute races/30 minutes
DR (with 1.5x top 8 multiplier)/SR
2x prize money (300K for 1st and down from that)
Grid Start
20 cars

Race D (Endurance): Gr.3/Gr.2/Gr.1
45-50 minute races/1 hour
DR (with 3x top 10 multiplier)/SR
4x prize money (600K for 1st and down from that)
Grid Start
24 cars
Here's a wilded idea! Race D could also offer the option of a 2 hot-lap qualifier in the car you race prior to the race to determine grid position and then adjust the race so total length is still around 45-50 minutes for total of qualification and race based on track length.

For prize money there should be no payout for DNFs.

Something like that.

EDIT: Increased the prize money to put this more on part to the money grind rates...
I don't like the multipliers for the top positions as it would mean there's more reason to push to the front.

I've toggled back and forth between B/S and B/A. It may be circumstantial, but I've gotten a better starting position when I'm SR A. Unfortunately that also leads to less problems ahead of me on the track, which makes it more likely I'll move back to SR S... A vicious cycle.

This week I'm really struggling with the handling differences between Q and the actual race. I sure wish it was easy to practice with the actual race conditions - judging the CoD with a differently-handling car is not a lot of fun.
Well, 3 races on Race B at A DR this morning, and 2/3 I've had my race ruined by being shoved off track. I was having a lot more fun at B level...
Totally understand that.

Wow!
Anyone else experiencing this phenomenon?!
I don't know about anyone else, but for me, the answer is "no".
With my improved qualifying time, I managed to pick up a couple podiums and back to back wins to get back into A. I'll probably have about 4 races there and back to B, ha.
You never know, but wouldn't be surprised either.

Are you driving/shifting it correctly? It’s a quirky car to drive, I suggest watching a couple of the top laps, so see exactly what they are doing. You’d be surprised how much those “little mistakes” are worth in certain cars over others.

Not a good day for Sport mode here...I did 4 B races, in 2 I just finished last, yep last.
Crashed, and then crashed again.
Then...i join the lobby, and during the warm up the countdown blocked at zero, we wain 1-2-3-4-5 minutes, nothing happens, I chat with the other users....after 10minutes we were 3 remaining, I didn't want to get the penalty to exit the game...but after 10-15minutes I just went to the exit and got another bump, I'm back in A - SR and very very low C-DR.
Uff.
The last one went better with a 5p.

I'm gonna give it another go before going to bed, I tried the RSR but it's not good in my opinion on this track...the 458 is fast but not easy to handle, I'm stuck with the 911RSR but it's slow in the race.
QT 1:41:0xx

My biggest gain in position ever! P10-P3, thanks to poor driving in front of me, and halfway decent driving by me. Except for the chicane on lap1, where I was watching the guys in front when I should have been focusing on what I was doing. Fortunately, I only scraped the wall, whereas the guys behind me left more of an impression...

There is no tyre wear in qualifying....
Yes, I understand that. I was asking why it wasn't good in the RACE despite being good in the qualifying. Hence wondering if the Sauber's tire wear was much worse than the Nissan/Mazda.

Tire wear? It's 6 laps. It's not a factor as you have to pit anyway.
Tire wear is ALWAYS a factor. Just because you're not on reds doesn't mean tire wear doesn't matter. Whichever car has better wear will put in better lap times lap-after-lap regardless if a pit for new tires is required.

38.6 was the best I could do for tonight, optimal 38.4. I want that 37.9, I’ll be back lol.

Nice lap!!

Finally hopped into Race B yesterday for several races after not having touched the game in quite some time. I was putting too much pressure on myself for good results and wasn't having fun even though I was getting decent results. I was spending more time trying to improve my quali time instead of just racing and having fun. Silly I know. Lol

Anywho did turn a few laps in the Vette and set a 1:40.1 I believe as my best time which was good enough for 8th to 12th on the grid for most of the A lobbies I was in. Did a couple races in the Vette, then switched to the newest Merc for several races and did a couple in the Jag. Think my best finish was 5th or 6th but some really good races mid pack other than the occasional overly aggressive driver.

I was losing quite a bit of time out of turn 1 and the tight left hander after the death chicane but was making a ton of time up through the down hill esses and final chicane onto the straight.

Hope everyone has been doing well! Good to be back racing!

Ay, I'm T. BOX in that race. I thought the same thing when I saw the NISMO. Maybe he lost a bet with someone.

Well, between a crappy showing in the Toyota cup on Sunday and 2 B races tonight I jumped off the cliff and maybe will see you soon in B rank 🤔
Minus 2600 in 3 races is the biggest drop for me in a while.

1st race 3 cars in front me all slid along the wall first time through COD and I almost avoided them, instead tagged the rear quarter of the car in front of me and did a 360 before continuing on. Recovered and landed p13.

2nd race I spun coming out of t1 and dropped to p16. Second lap all by myself and still hosed COD, engine damage and a limit penalty for the trifecta. Needless to say I finished but brought home p16.

Seems like it could be a fun race and I’ve done well here before but I think running no tc in gr3 for the first time in a race got in my head. This roller coaster ride isn’t my first time and it won’t be the last 😂

Will be back for more tomorrow.

Had a couple of goes at Le Mans on Monday, I made far too many mistakes and ended up not really having much fun. So last night I decided to stick to race B.

1st go I started 8th and made it up to 4th thanks to the CoD and some big kerbs catching people out. Then it was my turn to make a mistake and fell back to 7th. Pulled in a CRB though!

2nd race started in 8th again. I got hit from behind on the way into the chicane on lap 1. There was a line of nose to tail cars in front and they all braked so I didn't have much choice but to join in. The guy behind me obviously didn't agree, so I ended up in the wall and last. Caught back up to finish 12th with another CRB.

3rd race I started 11th and I wasn't looking forward to being that far back. This time everyone else made their mistakes and I swept through picking up the places. Got into a good battle with third but he got a 0.5 penalty for cutting the chicane and then made a mistake on turn 1 to leave me a solid 3rd. Sorry @GrumpyOldMan, I got you beat by 1! 😁
