Does someone have a good replay to help me at Maggoire, the Lancer slides a lot so I have to be careful how I move this car. It's a chore to handle, I really need a wheel.

Do you have any idea if the PSVR works well with prescription glasses?

You can buy prescription lenses for the PSVR2 for as little as $40. All you need is to know the numbers for your prescription, they are awesome that’s what I use.

I'm going to have to try those one day, but they are a bit more expensive over here. In the meantime, it works well over my normal glasses. As long as you don't have huge, extravagant frames, it should be fine.

I ordered the lenses from HONSVR, they are in China, $40

lots of cheap decent starting wheels out there now buddy

What I noticed in A/A+ lobbies in race C is that all the top guys are now running Nissan. And they’re smoking me in my Sauber even though I have great quali time. There’s some secret going on here but everyone is shush about it.

This should really be in the TT discussion thread as that is where he spends his time. It was interesting reading that thread. I always suspected that the elite "aliens" would have world class rigs to eke out maximum performance but no, his set up is fairly run of the mill. Yes, it's a couple $k worth but it's not even direct drive. Regular high end Thrustmaster wheel and pedals with a nice cockpit. I'm sure many here have similar set ups. So that makes me feel even more pathetic in my abilities. :D
You don’t need a world class rig to set a WR, you need determination and lots of time. There are plenty of guys with WR’s on Pads and G29’s, nice gear may be more fun/comfortable, but it doesn’t make you faster.

I'm gonna tell you one thing that last s-bend turn before the finish line at Dragon-
Seaside always kills or slows my lap time down. What should I have the TC and Brake Balance on? If I knew what steps to take I could maybe get a time under 1'40.000 but it's gonna take practice.

I've been having really good luck in the 911 at Seaside. Finally hit sub-40's so starting to get to know the place and what the car can do here. I am running TCS at zero and BB at +1. What works for me through the last set of esses is:
  • heavy brakes where the curb begins on right at the crest of the hill
  • late turn-in/square the corner a bit and keep as far left as possible on exit
  • lift/blip the brakes/steering input to rotate car to right
  • roll into throttle almost immediately to catch WOT by dip in middle of turn
Not saying it will work for you/your car, but that's what's getting me through there. Granted, I'm only at a 1:39.8xx so I'm no superstar. I think I'm losing most of my time through CoD...still hittin' the brakes through there. 😁

So, ran a bunch of races yesterday with varying results. Had a couple wins and some podiums...and two DFL's (or close). What I am struggling to understand is what is up with the A lobbies?? Y'all don't play nice, lol. Seriously though, I am having some amazing races in the all B/S lobbies. Close, competitive and CLEAN. I get thrown to the wolves in mostly A lobbies and suddenly it becomes Burnout 3: Takedown. Are the A lobbies some strange purgatory between B and A+ where people just be mad??🤣

Mid to low 3:16 should be in 🦾

I won’t say you can’t be great with the game pad, and many players are, but I disagree that a racing setup doesn’t make the game easier. I think the pedals, in particular, make significant difference.

Yeah, top of the line equipment is certainly helpful, but I think what separates the top 1% from the rest of us is timing.
They can brake right on the mark, consistently. After slowing for a turn, they get back on the throttle right at the perfect time. Their turn-in is spot on, and they can be precise with risk vs reward overtaking decisions.

Regardless of your input method, if you can master the equipment you have available, and time your inputs just right, you'll be an alien. 👽

From a handling perspective, does setting brake balance towards the rear around 2-3 help to keep the front end track better and less under steer?
Been using same on both MR and FR cars.

I’ve used it for tire saving but for performance I’ve not been seeing an improvement trying to go front or rear bias on seaside.

I’m stuck at 1:39.5 and can hit very close to that in many cars atm but looking for other improvements like brake bias I’m just not changing my outcome.

Yeah if B was more laps it would at least give a chance to recover.
Again last night I’m starting deeper than p10 and get swarmed on the first lap by desperate racers planning to move up front with really aggressive moves.

At 4 laps it’s not a race that you can recover from getting knocked around.
Depends highly on what the car is (FR or MR) and yes it does make a difference. Not a full second but still worth noting.

I drive the 650S in Race B and generally prefer a car which understeers a bit more, like the NSX in Gr3 races..

Long story short, I wanted to make the McLaren slide a bit more since tire wear isn't an issue at Dragon Trail, just so I can exit the CoD and the downhill corners of Sector 3 faster by having the car pointing straight a split-second earlier.

The result, my previous PB of 1:38:7 has been replaced by a 1:38:5 and during the race, it works just as well...

The low A lobbies, which I was mostly in for the last two days, have indeed been horrendously dirty. I don't understand how people get to DR A, which I think is fairly good, without learning that racing and setting a fast qualifying lap time aren't the same thing. When qualifying I only have to briefly lift to get through the COD unscathed, but I understand that when there's a tight lineup of 5 cars headed through, I may need to brake and/or lift earlier so that I don't plow into the car ahead of me or hit the wall on the left because I don't have as much front end grip with dirty air. I'd even prefer a smaller lobby of cleaner/more aware drivers over a full 16.

@TechnoIsLove what BB adjustment are you making for Race B? I haven't played around with it yet.

It doesn't work well with credit grinding, I can say that. When I got it I still needed 80,000,000 million in credits to get ever car, and I ended up dumping it just to finish grinding. Just got every car last week and am now at the beach. Probably going back to psvr2 when I get home.

Yeah well I wasn’t talking about top of the line equipment, just the difference between controller and a racing setup

Sauber just cant match Nissan in straights and its tire wear is worse.
In quali trim it makes up for it with its nimbleness.

Good pedals can make you more consistent, and can make it easier to be consistent, over a race distance, I won’t disagree with that. Wheels though, make little to no matter in performance, once you are at least using a proper FFB wheel. The wheel does have a current advantage over a pad too, but that hasn’t always been the case. I’ve had lots of different gear at this point, and I can tell you from experience, better gear might be more fun, and more comfortable, but it doesn’t make you faster, over a single lap, when it comes to TT’s.

This is my old iRacing rig, it didn’t make me any faster/better at iR, but it was really fun to use.

Definitely interesting to see contrasting experiences. For me, A folks are the cleanest and make compromises to account for my lower skills, like braking earlier to avoid rear-ending me. They also seem to actually have space awareness, a skill that majority of B folks lack.

But it could always be down to similar driving styles vs different driving styles as well as the location of folks. For example, most folks here complain about Brazil folks being dirty while in my experience, Brazil folks are very clean.

Next week's races (may not be accurate):
Daily A- Grand Valley South. Gr4 AWD only. Racing Hards. 1x fuel. 1x tires. 5-8 laps guessed.
Daily B- Daytona Road Course. Gr3. Racing Hards. 1x fuel. 1x tires. 4-6 laps guessed.
Daily C- Road Atlanta. Radical SR3. Sport Hards. 1x fuel. 1x tires. 8-12 laps guessed.

C has me locked and loaded. I've been waiting for another one like this for a while now. I hope this trend continues.

I think this 'format' is more or less what Sport Mode needs to be (assuming no major format changes).
Race A needs to be what Race B is, and become an unranked Gr. sprint race.

Then, make the road car race B or C. Everyone is happy then, there's a competitive road race, and an unranked chill race with cars everyone is familiar with.

Back in Sport Mode:
After the dumping in D - DR, I'm back in C with 2 victories and clean races in a row.
The internal position in the ranking really makes a difference in the lobby...a high D - S lobby is a pretty decent place to race, a low C-S lobby is hell on earth...people flying everywhere trying to not be back in the jungle "D".

Guys, watching you driving in your videos and reading what you write I understand that I'm really a rookie...I mean, I'm stuck at 1:41:1 since yesterday morning and really can't hit the good spots to turn or change gear...well, I've watched some replays but doing it is quite different.
I'd need some training...but I guess the only way is driving, driving, driving driving...

ps. brake balance really makes a difference, try the dragon trail with the 911RSR, the first turn....with a positive bias and then a negative and see the results

This is why you fight till the very end. It might net you a spot on the podium :)

Here's another example of "never give up".

I was cruising along on lap 1, and liked my chances, at this point.
Everything was normal, going into the first chicane, then, I got blasted in the ass. I was more startled than anything.
You can see that the mechanical my car received was catastrophic. I wasn't even mad. I was just wondering was the hell happened. I didn't even touch any other cars, up to this point.
Since I wasn't mad, I didn't quit the race. I was dead last, and figured that this is a good challenge.
Can I still get a top 5 finish?
I concentrated on hitting my marks, and avoiding the crazies.
I still had no clue who punted me.
On the next lap, I saw this dude giving a bunch of grief to someone who was trying to pass him.
I was trying to get by both of them, and ended up blasting the aggressor into a wall. I really didn't mean to. I turned right to avoid going off the track.

It wasn't until after the race, when I watched the replay, that I discovered it was the same dude who sent me from 2nd to 16th.
That gave me a good chuckle. :mischievous:

Ultimately, I finished 2nd. :D

Wish they'd have a rethink of race lengths and realise the shorter races only encourage overly aggressive and desperate driving.

So what if longer races cut out some of the player base, IMO it's the ones that deserve to be cut anyway.

The players left will be the ones actually wanting to do decent length races, for the most part.

Forgive me if this is meh opinion, comes off the back of a nightmare Race B where race etiquette seemingly had gone to die.
I have a couple of thoughts on this. First, I agree that shorter races can contribute to aggressive and desperate driving.

But, and I'm talking about Race B right now, they don't need to lengthen the race timeslot. They just need to use the time they have. There's no reason this week's Race B couldn't be 6 laps at least. They could keep the same 20 minute slots, and not affect anyone who prefers a "shorter" race. And it would give enough time to not have to drive desperately.

As for wanting to do "decent-length" races, some of us aren't really capable of longer races. I know I'm not the only one who can't stay focused for the longer races. Some of us just can't do it. So I appreciate that there are different length races.

With that said, the one "longer" race I completely miss is the Daily Race C we had a year ago, on Nürburgring Nordschleife. I did have trouble staying focused, but I could force myself to be focused enough, because that track was just so damn fun. It was right around the time I started doing daily races, and I thought "it doesn't get much better than this". Little did I know that we'd NEVER SEE THE TRACK AGAIN in daily races. [insert bad words here].
