Sauber just cant match Nissan in straights and its tire wear is worse.
In quali trim it makes up for it with its nimbleness.
Yeah, my first race with Nissan and it worked like a charm, went 6 places up. I guess top speed and less sliding in corners is significant advantage over Sauber. I can go TC 1 with Nissan but at least 2 with Sauber. Only 2 guys were in Sauber and they were near the bottom.

In quali it is awesome though. 🤷‍♂️

Don't you love it when you fire up the game all amped to run some races, feelin' good, feelin optimistic...only to finish LAST in your first two outings??? I mean, really....TWICE??? Started P11/13 in them, but still. Damn. Simply could not find my groove and was completely shook for a minute. Couldn't get knocked off the horse that hard and not get back on, tho...scored a P5 on the next one. Then I decided to stem the bleeding and go cut the grass.

Was able to get one more in for the evening and was glad I did. Amazing race. P1/2 duked it out for a while, which was fun to watch, but then it finally happened on lap two. Contact. The big, nasty kind that sends cars sailin' and makes a mess of the joint kinda contact. Best of all (for me) it was leaving the last set of esses into the straight. Score. Threaded the needle and broke free while watching cars and dreams being blasted into pieces in the rear-view...was pretty quiet from there to the flag.😁

Thanks for the racing, everyone!

C has me locked and loaded. I've been waiting for another one like this for a while now. I hope this trend continues.

I think this 'format' is more or less what Sport Mode needs to be (assuming no major format changes).
Race A needs to be what Race B is, and become an unranked Gr. sprint race.

Then, make the road car race B or C. Everyone is happy then, there's a competitive road race, and an unranked chill race with cars everyone is familiar with.
I will vote for you if you want to take over whoever is in charge at PD!

There's literally no good reason not to use at least TCS 1.
It does not pull power, like it used to. It only helps gain traction in a straight line.
People always spinning out on corner exit.
I totally agree but you can still spin out on corner exit with TCS1. Don't ask be how I know :banghead:

I got my CSL Elite V2 pedals today and spent several hours tuning the settings and learning the new muscle memory for braking. After doing that, these things feel AMAZING! While they feel great, I'm not any quicker yet, but I have so much more control of my braking, I don't lock up, I appear to apply more braking force with ABS at weak and I have limitless modulation on braking. Now for the tricky left hander after the CoD on race B I can now consistently place the car wherever I want. :)

So with some new found optimism I took part in a few races. My first of the week.

Race A

I did not spend much time learning the car but it was a hoot to drive and I thought my 1:06 QT was reasonable enough. Started 6th and got up to 3rd I think but in the slidy slidy nature of the race, carnage happened and I slipped to last. Made it back to 9th but only because of 2 DNFs. Glad that was a no DR/SR race.

Race B - Round 1

Undeterred, I found I would finally try race B. My warm up had been great. New fastest lap, nailed the C.O.D. on every run with no wall contact and finally felt good about all the corners (with helped from the new pedals and some more setting changes to the GT DD wheel so I didn't feel like it was fighting me anymore). I started P10 and hit the C.o.D. with just a lift, but caught the car in front and had to cut the exit to avoid them, giving me a .5s penalty. That also threw my pace off and after that and through lap 2 got very abused by other cars. There was lots of hitting. I was knocked down to last at least twice but in the end I had the speed over the back markers to get back to 13th. Not a great start.

Race B - Round 2

Started P10 again and had good start. Entering the CoD I lifted as normal, after backing off a bit to give the car in front some room, only to find that car hit their brakes as they entered. I had to hit mine to avoid them which threw me off into the wall with a glancing blow (my only wall hit of the two races). What got me was that I got a 5 second penalty (not 0.5, not 1.5, but 5.0s) for hitting a car. I checked the replay and I did not hit another car. I was able to avoid the car in front but there was some action going on behind but that was it. The car behind me hit the barrier after I hit it and then they then hit me. They then spun 180 into the opposite barrier. Technically they hit me, not me hit them.

It feels very unfair to get a 5 second penalty there. I think GT7 mis calculated the other car crashing as a result of the impact between me and them but when it was really the other car, not handling the braking going on ahead. :irked: Distracted by the penalty notice, I then spun in into the left hander at the bottom of the hill (see you can spin on TCS1!) The 5 second penalty killed me but after that I hunkered down and hammered out some really good paced laps and cleanly made up ground to finish 10th; where I started. There was no point loss/gain in that one.

I looked at the video of my 5 second penalty incident from multiple views. I'll probably post it tomorrow and seek input, in case I'm missing something.

Called it a night there as I didn't like the crowd I was racing with in the two B lobbies I had. Perhaps I'll try tomorrow and hopefully get a less raucous crowd.

It's weird how that happens. Earlier in the week I've been really enjoying B and not so much C. It was all a bit too on the edge, people getting way too optimistic on overtakes, just messy.

Last night my first race was on C. This race was clean and fair, someone even avoided me under braking into the first chicane on the Mulsanne rather than full speed into the back! Didn't make many places, but had a good time.

Then I did a few race B and it was a mess. Seemed like everyone was being really aggressive with their moves, although it could also be me trying too hard to recover from incidents/mistakes. A complete swap around with the rest of the week.

I always wonder if its me that's different or the rest of them.

Oh it definitely changes through the course of the week and time of day. Middle of the day seems more mild. Evening and weekend seems more argy-bargy.

I think race B being only four laps does not help. Everybody attacks it as a Sprint from the get-go and there’s no give-and-take with the intention to catch up later. Needs to be a minimum of five laps ideally.

Race B's comedically short length annoys me even more when they randomly give us decent length races in there. I don't understand their prerogative at all.

If they were consistently short, sure - but in the couple months we've had races in race B ranging between 4 (!!!) and closer to 15. I don't get it at all. It just winds me up because any race that's stupidly short is immediately a write-off.

Last night I embarrassed myself ramming so bad a notorious youtuber during a live stream.
1st lap at Mulsanne straight and Im behind a "wall" of 3 cars wide. Before the first chicane we all brake late but in my case it was worse because of the slipstream.
Trying to avoid the disaster I send my car to the nearest "exit" (over the kerb at my right) to end behind a 4th car wich was ahead and braking to take the chicane.
I sent him to the moon.
I apollogized in all the possible languages but the damage was done :banghead:

It happens man I wouldn't beat yourself up about it. As long as your attitude is to take responsibility and try to avoid it in future, it's fine.

It's the ones who think oh that was fun, let me do that all the time that are the problem.

Race B is a 20 minute interval so they should be aiming for 15 minute races. At 1:45 per lap for typical lower lobby race pace they could easily do 8 laps. This should have been an 8 lap race.

Oh, hello 😄

Yeah, it's bs, but they gave you a penalty because the guy behind you made contact with your car, then hit a wall.
It's like a brake-checking penalty. It used to be more common, but doesn't happen much, anymore.
It was just some bad luck for you. :irked:

Long time viewer here, rarely post, but yesterday I had some of the best races I've had in a long time in race b. Its been super competitive and clean. The race above, the guy in the Ferarri had me working to catch him that I actually never realized 3rd was on my ass the entire time. It was a great race and at the end Im assuming that the Ferarri driver lost power b/c on the last corner he just went limp and crashed into a wall, then disconnected, regardless a great race. Im pretty average, and this week Ive started pretty much btw 5th and 10th with a 1:40.8 in the B’s. The first corner Ive usaually can gain 3-4 spots, seems like everyone brakes early or too late, 🤷🏾‍♂️ but Unfortunately its COD where the carnage happens. It has killed my sr as I've also hit a few cars that hadnt navigated the corner correctly and ended up ramming them, or leaving space to avoid that to only have someone ram me from the rear. Ive started using my signals in hope to let ppl know im braking earlier then the actual point to avoid hitting the car ahead.

Welcome to the forum! The more the merrier.

I wouldn't hold out much hope on using signals just try to really put you car out of danger or really early show where it's gonna be.

The being rear ended is frustrating but I kinda understand it. In the game and real world we all back off because it makes zero difference in laps times or positions leaving a bit of space.

In these mixed lobbies they sometimes don't have that level of anticipation, control or road craft let alone race craft :)

Welcome to GTP

Next week's races (may not be accurate):
Daily A- Grand Valley South. Gr4 AWD only. Racing Hards. 1x fuel. 1x tires. 5-8 laps guessed.
Daily B- Daytona Road Course. Gr3. Racing Hards. 1x fuel. 1x tires. 4-6 laps guessed.
Daily C- Road Atlanta. Radical SR3. Sport Hards. 1x fuel. 1x tires. 8-12 laps guessed.
Just saw this, thanks. Looks good, any time Race C is a road car (or a classic race car) then it's exciting! Even if the race doesn't end up that good in the end it's still at least new and fresh.

No way. NO...WAY!!!!!! Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?
PD finally putting Daytona Road course in Race B? And with the right car group? What happened? Someone in charge finally woke up?

Lol Atlanta in a Radical is madness, talk about an SR destroyer. Should be fun

It's been an odd week for me at Dragon Trail. I've spent A LOT of time trying to improve my QT, and I just can't do better than 1:39.860, which is ranked 6,379 right now, and I'm usually in the 3,000's or better. (At least, that's what my selective memory says, anyway.)

Fortunately, even starting further back in the pack than I'd like, so many people crash in the race that really, all I have to do is not crash myself. It's been hit or miss (pun intended), but I've only lost 3% over the week, so it's not too bad.

It's just that I love this track, and I wish I could figure out the QT better, but such is life. I can't get too grumpy about it. No, wait...

Yep, similar to my experience. My problem is also that I'm "afraid" of the CoD, during races. So I just don't race much. I spent way more time trying to get a decent QT. What car are you driving? With the best car everybody uses, the Supra, I can't get below 1:40. With the AMG 39.9xx, Huracan 39.7xx, GTR 39.6xx. The rest....all 1:40. I'm 💩 this week.

You should try the Mazda RX Vision. I managed to squeeze a 1:39.380 out of it. EDIT: 1:39.166.

Hands down the most fun I had all week. A battle for 2nd place! Talk about being a close race! At one point we ended up 3 wide on the downhill, on the last lap where it got a bit crazy, but the race was settled on the final straight, where the Porsche just couldnt outrun the Toyota.😮‍💨 If only every race could be like this…

Don't be afraid of the CoD during the race - just take it a little easier. There are tons of people who lose it there, and you'd be surprised what you can survive. Once I realized everyone has problems with the CoD, I stopped sweating it. And since we're using RMs, there's actually enough room and control for passing (not in the CoD itself, but right after it).

Funny you should mention the RX Vision. It's a car I've always loved (I had 3 generations of RX7s IRL), but I didn't consider it until just about an hour ago. It rocks! I haven't improved on my time yet, because I've been too busy racing it. Three races so far:

1) Started P7, finished P8. Would have been P4 if someone hadn't crashed right in front of me on lap 4.
2) Started P6, finished P4. Decent race.
3) P8 to P5. Another decent race.

And even though I haven't improved my QT, I'm always close, even with mistakes, so I know it's literally just a matter of time.

Finally got my Oceanic account to DR-A. Grinded the hell out of daily B this week to take advantage of the quick turnaround. Made it a point to do every single Gr.3 race on my way through the ranks in the 458. I think that’s the thing I’m most proud of 😂

At least I met my goal of having an “A” account in every region, mainly for FIA seasons. Time to build my N/A main to my skill ceiling, and create a new European account now to mess around in the daily’s.
