Hi guys, did 4 races tonight...I have to tell you, finally a day without any bad or crazy user...real fight but fair.
Good results, started middle of the pack like 7p - 6p and always gained a couple of positions so I'm in the higher range of C ranking.

I've tried to race with TCS at 2 with the 911RSR...I always used TCS at 0 or 1, at 2 it provides a safety net, I really feel that I can push the throttle pretty much in every situation without any problem but...it kinda stops me little bit.
And I'm talking with a pretty mediocre QT of 1:41 in the dragon tail race.
Maybe it could be useful when I need to do an average race just to gain some points without too much risk....what you think?

You’re going to get many different opinions with this. In Gr.3 and faster, I’m TCS-1 all the time. I’ll go TCS-0 in TT if I’m searching for those extra 1/10ths. But overall, I’m much more consistent at TCS-1.

Group 4 and slower, I’m always TCS 0

I'm used to TCS 1, I've always set at 1 from my first race...but, you know, I'm pretty new with the wheel, so I sometimes mistake how to handle the throttle closing a turn causing the car to snap, and only when I'm in sport mode in the more pressing situation, I'm in a hurry to turn and get back to full speed and bang, I crash.
TCS at 1 seems the more adaptive to every situation and pretty much every car, tonight I went for TCS 2 cause I needed a clean race to gain some point in my ranking without taking any risks, but it did cut some power while exiting the turn and going back to throttle...it just says "ok, gimme another sec" :D

Got a podium, from position 7:

Here's what it's like to be a developer, in this case, for GranTracker:
  1. I got to wondering if this is the best week for me, as far as gaining places is concerned.
  2. Which made me realize I need a column for positions gained/lost, in GranTracker.
  3. But that made me realize that for any races marked as "DNF", I would want to equate that to last place, but I don't keep track of how many cars are in the field, so I don't know what position last place actually is.
  4. So that means I need to add a column for number of cars in the field, for each weekly race.
  5. ...and I need to go back and fill in those values for previous races.
  6. Of course, I have no idea how to make the updated information available for people who already have the old records.
  7. But in any case, I'll want to be able to sum and average certain fields for each race week, which is something I'll have to think about how to implement.
So... maybe I don't care if this is the best week for me, as far as gaining places is concerned.

(It's actually not that complicated for me personally, because all I do is Daily Race B, and it's always been a 16-car field, but if I'm going to implement something, I have to do it right.)

Finally got my Oceanic account to DR-A. Grinded the hell out of daily B this week to take advantage of the quick turnaround. Made it a point to do every single Gr.3 race on my way through the ranks in the 458. I think that’s the thing I’m most proud of 😂

At least I met my goal of having an “A” account in every region, mainly for FIA seasons. Time to build my N/A main to my skill ceiling, and create a new European account now to mess around in the daily’s.

I hate to say it, but your account carries the biggest red flag there is in our region. “This nickname has been deleted” may as well be “This moron punts people” in Asia.

I’m about as clean as they get. Someone must have reported my nickname because they found it offensive or something. Not sure what the big deal about my name of “MALE ENHANCEMENT” was.

All my nicknames in other regions are much worse

Just a note, and don't think I'm offended by this, but you can call someone a cheater or you can learn why they're winning. You get nothing by insulting them, but if you hold off, you might replay a race or catch them online and ask. I have played thousands of online games, and insulted many, many more people than I should have. I learned from some of them and as a result, I hold some world records (#23 and #17 worldwide in the last Dune RTS). I find that the easiest teams or vehicles to win with are often NOT the most agile or easiest to handle (Viper 2 in Operation Moongate is an exception). If you can harness brute force and control it, you are golden every single time.
The 787B is easy on fuel and tires and easy to drive. In outright speed, though, I think there are road cars that could be raced alongside it and are faster. The F-XX-K is such a car, and in my world, a Camaro with 1,049 horsepower is another. Sadly I'm not well versed in many Group 1 cars, though I have driven the Audi, the Porsche, the R92, and hated the C9.
For 99% of us, it's a game we'll enjoy at home, and a few of you who aren't competing may still attend some events.
Another thing: IMHO in Group 1 cars, do NOT attempt to pass before a turn unless you are certain your front bumper will be even with it ahead of the other driver's front bumper. It's legal to try, but if they have the racing line and push you off the track when you're not even or ahead, the crash is your fault. That other driver will not be penalized. Also if you're ahead and think someone may try to pass you in this manner, aim your apex and exit for the middle of the road to give them room to race. Even if they get a penalty for bumping you off track, your race may still be ruined.
Last, DON'T QUIT! You lose 100% of the races you quit.
At LeMans, I ran 18 seconds faster under full auto drive!
See you on the screen or on here, and maybe at the movies next month?

What would you guys think of the idea that on Dragon Tale all cars become ghosts when going through the chicane of death?

On the one hand I get that it removes some of the challenge and realism, but on the other hand it’s not fun have multiple participant’s race ruined by something completely out of their control, which happens almost every race on this track this week.

I literally had 4 consecutive races ruined because of a sudden pileup caused by someone screwing up in the chicane and causing a multi car pileup that left us no time to react, and with no way for me or anyone else to get through there. Some of those people drive like they’ve never seen this chicane in their life and just go through there like a damn pinball, bouncing off of every wall and every other car.

Not a fan of that idea personally.

My tactic is to just leave more room so there is more time to react.

Is there context for this or has ChatGPT joined GT Planet?

Not for me, that's racing in many ways, **** happens.. I get it can be frustrating but that's what makes i unpredictable and entertaining as well.

You may as well just remove the chicane at that point.

I suspect auto-correction is at work here, but it's "Dragon Trail", not "Dragon Tale". I think the latter would be a good name for a fantasy book, though. ;)

As for ghosting everyone through the CoD, it's a race against other people, and part of the challenge is that everyone is unpredictable.

I don’t think I’ll be able to enjoy race b this week. Going through that chicane is just a total crapshoot, and after about 15 races it is clear that I have almost no control over my finishing position. I’ve driven like **** and finished third, I’ve driven very well and finished 14th. It all comes down to people in front of you crashing and making it impossible to get through without crashing or picking up a penalty, or someone slamming into you because they just try toy take the whole thing full throttle without even downshifting.

How you race in all the other parts of the track is practically irrelevant.

I think everyone's mileage varies with these things.

The CoD isn't the biggest killing field in most of my races it's the 2 hairpins (exits) that are killing people.

I've been thinking what I'd like to see for Race D. Here's what I'd go for, races on the hour 40 to 45 minutes long. Shuffling around a set of races strongly bias to the classic tracks, Nordschleif, Le Mans, Bathurst, Spa, Suzuka etc.

The timetables would be published in advance, so you can plan ahead when you want to race. Imagine putting together your personal diary for the week, all long races with strategy, mixed weather.

Mon 6pm: GR3 Nordschleife
Tue 8pm: GR2 Bathurst
Wed 6pm: Superformula Suzuka, 8pm GR4 Brands Hatch
etc etc etc

Maybe we could even chuck in some double length versions of the races at the weekend at selected times.

Ready to roll! Had a couple of exploration laps - will need to adjust settings - arms aching after 3 laps of Spa in a Gr2. Throttle is much more sensitive than a controller trigger! You won't see me in a daily race for a while yet 😂😭

FFB is weird in the sense that it’s something you tend to grow into. Stick with the stronger settings, and eventually you’ll get used to it, and appreciate the extra detail.

My first wheel was something like 6nm, and I only used half of it for a few months. Then I got a DD pro and couldn’t understand how ANYONE would need or want more than 8nm. I used that base for 6 months before the itch came back for more power. So I got a DD1, and had it max power within a month - once I got used to it. If the 25nm wheel was compatible with PlayStation, I’d be eyeballing that right now.

I’ve only used my DD Pro a little bit since the last physics update. And from what I remember, Fanatec’s recommended settings for GTS, are better than their settings for GT7. My only change to the wheelbase settings that I ran FOR at 120, and FEI at 100. In game I was at 6-torque, and 1-sensitivity.

Give my settings a try and see how they feel.

FFB 100
PEAK
NDP 5
NFR 10
NIN OFF
INT OFF
FEI 100
FOR 100
SPR OFF
DPR OFF
In game using 6 & 3 atm .

The people who brake heavily through the Chicane of Death:

View attachment 1274369
With nobody in front of them? Yeah, agreed. If I can see that there's going to be contact if I don't slow down for it some, I'm going to brake.

Managed to get one Race B in this morning between walking the dog, working out, and having to go to work. Started P8, got up to P6, got pushed/half spun coming out of a corner thanks to a moron, finished P9.

Has anyone noticed but the two second lag glitch is back I've noticed it a good half dozen times in Race c over this week after they cut it back to six laps

Completed my first few DR today since getting the game yesterday. I wasn't particularly good in my first few races on Race A: the car was constantly sliding around. I eventually got to grips with how to handle the vehicle in the game and managed to get a P6 as my best result in 3 races.

Then I completed a few Race B and my best result was a P2. While my lap times weren't particularly spectacular, I tried -- and managed -- to keep my racing clean, avoiding any penalties or strikes to my SR.

Almost there!

And this is a perfect example of how being DR A doesn't mean what a lot of people think it means:
1690057434895.png

It's not like I've been dominating Daily Race B like I'm some sort of great driver. It's just that I've been avoiding disasters, for the most part. I don't even have a decent QT this week. But, slow and steady sometimes wins the race.

Of course, now that I've posted this, I'm going to instantly experience horrible races and wish I had kept my mouth shut (or fingers AFK).

EDIT: Yes, in fact, I DID crash and burn in my next race, and NO I don't want to talk about it.
