As a controller player, Daily C is tough. There is quite an amount of cars that completely lose their right tyres around the last 2 laps and since a no stop is pretty much the name of the game this week, i don't really have a choice but to run all 12 laps on the mediums. It's moments like these where i would love a wheel, since tyre managment is so much more easy with one.

Did a couple of races at SPA today...this -european- morning a bad one, crashed with ugly users..instead tonight I've been lucky to survive and finish 7th, not great but after having been de-ranked in B-A that's a floor, I hope, from where I can get myself up again in the next days

Just got back from being out of town since Monday. It rained during my first spa race. I was an entire minute behind by the the time I got to the pits. Only to realize I didn't even have any other tires to use.

Question, and sorry if this has already been covered: Can you tell what the weather is before the race starts, so you can start with the appropriate tires?

I sure hope the answer is "yes", because if it isn't then PD's claim that GT7 is "The Real Driving Simulator" is total BS - who would start a race without knowing what tires would be appropriate for the track conditions? It would be more like "The Real Gambling Simulator".

Before the race starts if you jump into your car while in the pits you can check the radar. Gotta be quick, though.

I really wish they would have added a 100 mile filter instead of a pointless 3 mile filter this last update. My only assumption is that the longer range dynamic weather models are coming, and it’s just a matter of coding it. I do see how the smaller radius filters would be advantageous for say…. an endurance race at Nurburgring.

…which leads me to believe that endurance races with long range dynamic weather are coming

I hope it's a mistake by an intern because this can't be a real thoughtful decision.

It is kind of endearing to see talks about rain before the race start from perspective of a Daily Race C player. :D

Hope the guys new to this are enjoying the gamble. Just know that it is still possible to get the guess wrong. At least in case of a wrong guess, you suffer for less time than in Race C. Poor PS4 users, they apparently don't load into the lobby with enough time to spare to check the weather and change tires.

hahaha, thanks for that ego boost, but, no, I wouldn't say 'clearly faster'. Your results are what happens when you love a combo and put the time in.

My race 'career' has one clear pattern - Clean, consistent races with just slightly above average results. I can somehow usually avoid or minimize the 'disaster' races. The dr trickles up slowly, but steadily. I have 2000+ races in at this point (and an embarrasingly low percentage of wins, I aim for top 5 or at least top 8 more than the wins).

There's no doubt you'll be a solid A racer, if you care or want it.
You actually are clearly faster than me, though. Maybe I could be as fast as you if I worked hard enough but I can't and I wouldn't either since the game ceases to be fun for me. Also, there was a chat about percentage of wins some pages back, with my personal opinion being that a low win percentage is actually good, since it is a mark of consistency (unless you are A+ since there are not many folks left with higher rating). Also, I am glad that I am not only one who aims for at least top 8 if not top 5, since it helps in slowly trickling up in DR. :D

yeah, well, there are those that are both fast AND consistent! I'm not there yet, but working on it.

At some point early in learning this game, it dawned on me that dr wasn't measuring pace (something that seems obvious to me now and to most of you on the forum, I'm sure. I was slow in the thinking!). But I doubt you get to A+ without both qualities.

And, yesterday I posted a sub-700 time in race A on the global board! About as good as I get this late in the week. I don't do many raceAs, so I don't have an idea where that measures up, but a couple weeks ago in one of the raceB, I also had a sub-700 as late as thursday, my best effort to date. Racked up some dr that week! I have been generally qualifying better recently (at least in Gr3) and the results have borne out.

Alright, yesterday I bought the intermediate and rain tires for my 458. Also made sure to switch back to RH as my default tires.

Today I jump in Race B, I check the weather...it's fine, no rain.
The race starts. Before T1 my car doesn't reach 5th gear. In T1 and Eau Rouge my car doesn't respond well. 3 cars overtake me like I'm not fast enough. What the hell is wrong with me today? After lap 1 I'm last place. I check the tires usage and I see a lot of red in there.

I give up and quit. Go back to my garage, check the tires.....I had intermediate all along.

At least it wasn't the driving! Also, thanks for sharing what we've all done, but few will admit.😁

PS - The spoiler was as priceless as it was on-point 🤣

Hello! How is everyone? Believe it or not, today was the first time I actually played since Monday lol. Why? Because I have slowly been transforming into an aquarium freak and finally made the move to build my own one from scratch! 😂

However, I did do a Race B at Spa earlier and my best qualy time was a full 3 seconds slower than P1 rank lol. Started 13th in a lobby that had some famous names/ YT people and overall, was actually fun!

Spent the first 2 laps side by side with a Frenchman who was fair and clean and we never touched even though we raced uin plenty of corners! It was great 😀 No idea why I lost traction on lap 3 after sector 1 but a photo finish meant I crossed the line in P11 and no idea why I didn't get a clean race bonus...

But at least karma kicked in and I was awarded 1M credits from the daily marathon, first time ever!

I jumped into the pits, and the wipers were going. So I assumed it was raining. It was NOT raining, and I had switched to the wrong tires. This is total BS. There's no point in me racing race B this week.

Way to completely ruin a week, PD.

I ended my week of B races yesterday, I had sooo high expectations for SPA this week but bad users and strange weather management ruin it...maybe I'll try one tomorrow, but I'm trying some TT meanwhile.
...I'll be back monday, but this time I'm thinking about switching to Race C at the Red Bull Ring a track that I like...I've never done a C race so I'm also pretty curious about that

Don't rely on the wipers, check the radar. I had one race yesterday that was completely dry except for the chicane and through turn 1 up to Eau Rouge.

If any of you want to feel better about your driving, I suggest watching the GT Manufacturer's Finals race from yesterday.

Those drivers are the best of the best, and they made soooooo many mistakes.
There were multiple pit lane violations, shortcut penalties, and collision penalties.
They were pushing to pass, and even going off track all on their own.
It really just looked like an extra long daily C race.

They made all of the same kind of mistakes that we do. Although, they do it much faster.
We're still not gonna beat them, but they make bonehead errors, too.

You can watch the race in-game, or at the GT YouTube channel.
This morning, the Nations Cup finals will be aired, as well. 👍

Interesting that the weather doesn't move during the race at Spa - if it's nearby it stays nearby, if it's actually raining at the start, it rains for the whole race. That's what I've seen so far anyway, don't know whether others have seen different.

Also, how do you get your SR back up here? I got caught up in somebody else's crash on Monday, got a penalty for supposedly knocking them off track, and my SR dropped from S to A.

I've had no further similar penalties since, and a few clean race bonuses, but my SR stubbornly refuses to move back up to S!! 😕

Races at Spa were fun today, and I was able to pull off a P1 finish for the first time since getting to rank B. Was more than a little lucky though, as the Brazilian driver in front of me most the race was faster, but he spun out on the chicane before the final lap. I never raced this track before this week, and was finding it very difficult to be consistent. Was happy to see that during this race, I settled down to lap times right at 2:33.0 (except the first lap). Now I just need to find a way to be consistently 1-2 seconds faster than that :) I've included the video of the race below, for anyone who might be interested.

Mine too i have had about 3 clean race bonus in a row and it wont move up my SR band

Track limits
I didnt think you get clean race bonus if you got track limit penalty. But that might explain it as at Spa it is easy to get 1 track limit recorded, but that seems mean and not my usual experience for rapidly gaining SR levels in just a couple of races usually. I have been stuck all week no change. It might be the track. I have only been driving Spa.

Finally got my first win since changing to a wheel 😃 at Interlagos using the RCZ. Started 2nd , P1 was on softs and pitted on lap 4. After that I just concentrated on hitting each apex and getting on the throttle quickly - maintained a 1 second gap til the last couple of laps when P2 either made a mistake or tyres went off.

Followed with a 2nd place at Spa using the NSX among several A/S drivers. Wish B was just a couple of laps longer - there's too many desperate moves made on the first lap, then you have to try and recover.

Another win! This one was particularly rewarding as I spent like 10 of the 12 laps battling for first with another car, with the threat of the ever-closing car in P3 behind. During lap 11, P2 finally made a mistake that also slowed down P3 (which was almost next to us at the end), allowing me to pull away. These are the races that remind me how great this game can be when there's respect shown on-track and people don't mistake GT for Destruction Derby.

As the race week comes to an end, people seem to leave sportsmanship at the door. I've done over 10 races today and was punted countless times. I was mid B DR (started the week in high-D) but I'm not at low C again.
I completely agree.

I did 5 races today on Race B. I am a Clean racer. I got bumped and punted off, pushed into other racers by others, and in 5 races my rating has gone from A+ 30%bar and S SR, down to BC.
Other drivers and penalty system has screwed me for the first time really heavy.

Now I get to see how many days it will take me to get back to A+.
