I race almost exclusively in ACC these days on a series X but I fired up my PlayStation Pro just for GT7. GT Sport was the game that really got me into online racing and I was hoping to get more fun memories from GT7 multiplayer. God am I disappointed with Sport mode in GT7 it's horrible and seems designed to just burn through credits trying to find a car & tune that is competitive. The set up of sport just isn't a fair playing field with racing skill being the most important factor in deciding a race and that is so disappointing.

I am going to get what fun I can from the single player stuff and see what they do with race c but as it stands now it looks like I will be back in ACC for my online racing.
You must be playing a entirely diferent version of ACC..., Competition server in ACC its very bad, in first week whitout any experience and with crap Setups i could easely end in top 10/5, the more i whent the ranking the worsth it got, i could climb the grid from back not only cause of consitency but cause of bad driving, most people in CP server dont know how to race, CP server in ACC its bad simple has that.

The only way i found some fun in ACC was using external sites with their own competitons/races like LFM.
ACC its boring and have nothing ingame that is fun.., yes you can pratice in single player and configure your own races but that doesnt count has online fun...

What i mean is that you can do the same with GT sport or GT7, theres private leagues that have their own rules, that leagues are way more competitive and fun compared to ingame features.

Anyway Gt sport was very cool with the BOP system.., i hope they figure that out and give options to diferent kind of players.
Do some races with PP and some with fixed BOP, 2 versions of the same race probably, one with open setups and other version of the race with BOP.

How do you get Daily Race B? I've only had A so far and I'm on Book 32?
You unlock both at the same time, should be right there next to A? Go into sport, enter the first option (think it has high speed ring as the image), and then you should see the available daily races?

You're only showing Race A available? That's a weird one. Both races were available for me once Sport Mode unlocked. What are your driver ratings? The lowest rating I've seen in Race B is D. Do you have an E rating? If so, you may be forced to raise that rating in Race A first. I cannot confirm this at all.

@DemiseOllie Agreed! We're only allowed to use road cars...but this VGT car isn't even real, much less road-legal.

Get rid of VGT from Daily race B it’s an absolute joke. Not a road car at all.

I said this would happen as this is what happened in Forza. Even if the VGT cars get taken out the straight liners will end up dominating a lot of tracks. It just doesn’t feel like racing, more like some sort of exhibition event.

Most viable cars? This way lots of cars can become viable cars unlike 1 or 2 on GTS. 1 make road car dailies will be a thing of the past.
Maybe if they set a PP limit as well. The problem with the current daily race B is it's just power and weight, so obviously you go for the car that has the biggest advantages that aren't covered by those two parameters. A PP limit might make it work, but it depends how it's calculated. If it's calculated for some generic test track rather than the specific track being raced on, cars could still be meta by quite some margin, e.g. high downforce + low top speed could give them a low PP for a generic test track resulting in them being OP on a handling track.

Or make the PP matter more instead of just HP and weight. A car with great top speed can have a high PP but will not turn great. Vice versa with a car that handles great. I had amazing online races in GT4 and 5 where the lobby had a max PP where the straight line cars had the edge on the straights and the nimble cars caught up in the curves.

Exactly this. I hope Mondays update adds PP to the daily races otherwise I'm going to turn into an actual broken record repeating this.

I saw someone post somewhere that the car runs a lap in the background after every change to adjust the PP. Even adding downforce, or lowering the car will add PP to it, so it does seem to take in a fair amount of variables for the PP calculations.

Quite a few assumptions there about what racing I do in ACC or who with. While I could correct you I really don't see the point. I enjoy my time in multiplayer races in ACC more at the moment than I do in GT7 end of story.

GT7 has the potential to do great multiplayer racing but it's not there yet or just even being close to good imo (< those 3 letters important point). If you think otherwise or don't agree that's ok. I hope you enjoy yourself in GT7 and have fun multiplayer racing going forward.

That's what it is about at the end of the day having fun racing no matter where you find it. I just happen to have more fun in ACC racing with the folks I race with at the moment than I do in GT7. That may change in the future and I am still willing to give GT7 a chance should Polyphony listen to feedback and iterate on what they have.

Hope that makes my point of view clear and you have a great rest of your day.

I wonder if any of the streamers are planning a weekly tune guide. That would increase participation by a 1000 I think.
That might help level the playing field a little and maybe get some actual close exciting racing. One of my issues with things as they are now is you will either storm away from folks or you will lag behind so far all due to your tune.

Races are 80% decided by car / tune and 20% driving skill (made up numbers but you get the point). It's skewed away from driving skill and that doesn't make for close fun races at least from my experiences so far.

Qualified with a time of ~1:36.100 for Race A (big improvement over my day 1 time of 1:39ish) and had a very close race with the #2 car. Traded places many times. I had him in the corners but his car was able to achieve more speed on the straights than mine. In the end, I finished 2nd place with just a 390ms gap to first. Of course many would find this race boring, but these are the first cars players get access to (pre-order bonus aside) so its inclusion makes sense this soon after release. Besides, I'm having a lot of run zipping around in this goofy "Aqua GT" as I call it.

Will probably stay away from Race B until I become more familiar with tuning.

Yeah I tried race A a few times but I really don't like the car. Its weird how it turns off when off throttle and you need to keep like 70% throttle at the corner apexes.

I wonder they Polyphony are kind of testing the waters at this point? I know that Race B has some known issues and using BhP rather than PP as a restriction seems like a very strange move at this point. I’m hoping in the long run we get a mix of tuning to a PP limit races and Sport-esque pick a Gr.3 and go. I also really hope we get random weather races.

Fellas, why is everyone making such a big deal about the tuning? The fine tuning won’t make much difference anymore, all you need is the parts list for the car and you’re good to go. Give the game a few weeks for everyone to get re used to tuning parts again, it’s not that hard. Tuning in GTS was so much worse, because it was all sliders, and nothing else. The tuning parts are kind of fun, plus you can now build the same car many different ways, turbo, or Supercharge, or NA, or whatever. Other than that’s it’s just set the gearbox to max out on the longest straight on the track, and you’re done. 👍

It’s great for single player but mixing it up with online is really awkward. Especially with the pay to win potential of upgrades

I understand hesitation but I think its clear PD are still rolling out the full sport mode slowly? It is likely they introduce some regular BoP enabled races that would alleviate a lot of these problems for people who want something closer to GTS
