As I have said before, free rental cars for testing and qualifying is alright.
Rental cars for racing is BS. It is completely wrong!

Now, races are even worse than before.
Last night, I've got rooms where I was the only one without - Daily B: Beetle / Daily C: GT-R Nismo.

It doesn't mean that who is driving these cars get the first 15 places at the end.
I finished 2 races at 'C', where I finished both in P4 (one with NSX, other with Lexus).
But it is stupid, it is.

MHO.

Yes, I'm considering changing the design of my vehicles to "Monsanto Spray Agent Team" for this week's races. Maybe that helps against this plague of beetles, although the beetles left me relatively unimpressed in my races there, 2 drivers in the GT-R R35 were different. They were very unpleasant contemporaries.

won my first Race B in a minute last night, in the Supra Concept... as a B/S, my qualifying time (1:33.8 last night, got almost a full second off this morning!) in three races had me start at: p12, 10, 6, and then 1. was using the 97 supra and the f type, until the last race. progressively less A/A+ as the day went on, the win happened in a full B/S room.

i saw someone had run a good time with the supra in one of my earlier races, 'rented' it for a few laps, bought it, and won the first race it ran. i think theres some odd elements of the rental system but i'm pleased with how it worked in my case.

Overall I agree, it's not like we're talking luxury car prices for cars eligible to race in these ones. I get it for the 1 make or if there's 2 or 3 choices but otherwise people should be buying the cars they want to race with, isn't that kind of the point?

It has a knock on effect of lessening interest in livery making and sharing as well, it's up to you how important you think that is but visually it's a lot less interesting with a whole grid minus one or two in a rented car all with the same number and paint scheme.

IT's just less fun, honestly.

Honestly.... in sports racing, the vehicles could also be gray blocks for me... That bothers me less, but what I don't really like is the permanent, completely free usability. There should be fees or restrictions on this system, especially since the vehicles don't cost 20 million and you can farm relatively well and easily for these vehicles.

Race B, qualified with a 31.8xx in the Beetle and got myself a win after starting P2. It's quite a fun car even if it does look ridiculous (more so because I've got a 911 livery on it). I tried the WRX, which had been my previous go to before the new BoP and handling update but I found it very understeery, same with the Mazda. Not tried any others yet but the Beetle is dominating the lobbies for a reason I guess.

At least this BoP does seem to have a bigger mix of viable cars than just the RCZ, seen good performances for the Lancer, Mustang, Mazda, WRX so far. The Beetle just seems the most pad friendly though with the new handling models understeer trait.

Some good runs on Race B last night ... "fun" qualifying test lap in the 99' R34 Pennzoil at a 1:32.9 then got down to a 1.32.4 in the Beetle but then surprisingly a 32.2 in the Mustang which I preferred to drive more. Optimum splits said a 1.31.9 was possible which for me would of been a great achievement.

Able t get a lot of cars in the 33's in Race B, fastest was the Jag with a 33.4. My issue is TC, it is IMPOSSIBLE to drive this track with TC, it cuts in ridiculously intrusively at both the last corner and especially the exit of the senna S. It's absolutely ridiculous that TC1 is so monumentally intrusive. WHat's the point of TC if the lowest setting cuts your lap time by 2 seconds?

I managed to set qualifying laps with no TC but in a race, I absolutely hate driving on egg shells, garbage experience.

I am on this train 100%. Real races, at the very least for teammates, have different numbers and different colored mirrors or something like that to differentiate the cars from each other. I like that on GT7 as well.

First thing I do when buying a Gr car is change the livery. I prefer to only d/l ones that can be edited so I can, at the very least, change the number so if someone else has the same livery then we don't have carbon copies of the cars.

I've never rented a car for a race; I have rented them for quali attempts just to see if I like it. If I do, and put iin a good time, I'll buy it, change the livery, then race it. The only reprieve is if the car is not currently available for purchase (like the CLK) but that is just GT shooting itself in the foot.

Renting is the way to go right now.
1 No need to put damage on MY car.
2 No need to purchase a car.
3 No need to purchase tyres
4 A free oil change at every race!

I do not like this. I rent for practice as I dont see the point in putting damage on the car or getting the oil dirty if I can prevent it but i make all of my own liveries and if I have a good race I like to make a video of it so I want people to see my livery, but yeah if I could use my livery on a rental there would be zero incentive to use my own car.

It feels like the issue a few weeks ago with the GTO in Race A that wasn't available to buy (or obvious how to earn) got some complaints (understandably, I still maintain it was a stupid thing to do) and they decided to fix this by knocking the whole building down instead of just putting a new wall in.

Looking at the way this has been implemented though I don't see them walking it back. Maybe they can just tweak it to be for practice and qualy but I wouldn't bet on it now they've knocked the whole thing down.

I was so hyped for Gr 2 at Le Mans and then for whatever reason the CLK was available, should have never been there in the first place. It should have been limited to what we see now in Race C

Fuji this week is an obvious 'hey we messed that up here's an actual Gr 2 race to make up for it'

If they got rid of the stupid, pointless and vague oil changing and engine wear mechanic I’d buy my own car to race. Just easier to rent it and not have to worry about that stuff.
Is it really that big of a worry? 400 credits every 200 (?) miles? Even the worst of roulettes will get you five oil changes. How many miles before anything engine/chassis wise needs anything? Seems like a quite minor thing to have your own livery and track the miles you put on any given car, which I like to do.

To each their own and if renting is your thing more power to you, but to me an oil change every once in a while for 400 credits is a very minor 'worry' (although I agree it's dumb to be in the game at all).

It wasn’t for “whatever reason”. Both the CLK-LM and F1 GTR Longtail raced at Le Mans in real life, which is why they were available to use last week. The CLK-LM just happened to be the meta car of the two, so everyone was driving it.

The current Race C being at Fuji and only allowing the Nissan, Lexus and Honda Gr.2 cars is clearly supposed to be Super GT-themed.

It’s not the credits it’s going through the menus to do it. And also not knowing when to do it. If it could be done from the race menu with a click or even if they had a message to tell you it needs doing in the first place it would be tolerable.
I’m a bit paranoid about it as I’ve been caught out a couple of times when I haven’t done it and done a load of races thinking I was just having a bad day as everyone streamed past on the straights.
My stance has always been that all the single player mechanics should be removed from online.

Won Race B twice yesterday and got 3rd twice using the F-Type GR.3. I regret signing my manufacturer contract with Alfa and no with Jaguar because I've been loving the F-Type.
think pretty much everybody that has signed for Alfa has shown regret once they have tried any other car.... ; )

but seriously; the Jags are great, just like in GTS....and as the test season has ended pretty soon you can sign a new contract.

I cant understand the penalty system. Interlagos lap 3 i cut inside one of the hairpins to take 1st place (not shortcut, no penalty). I literally tapped the dudes quarter panel at maybe 40mph, he didnt go off track, he just tucked in right behind me.

For this i got a 2 second penalty saying forced opponent off track? despite me having video evidence showing otherwise. Finished 5th and deranking me to C :grumpy::grumpy:

Can you share the video? Sounds like a push to pass from your description.

Yes the penalty system is crap. Did Race B last night. Some idiot in a supra tried dive bombing someone in front of me T1. Went off track then as he joined he T-boned me as I came passed him on T-2/T-3 I got 3 second penalty for pushing him off track. He should've got a penalty as he rejoined straight back on between T-2/T-3. He tried dive bombing me again on T-4 but I seen him coming and let him go straight off.

Dont worry, someone will be along shortly to tell you you should have hit the brakes and that the penalty was legit. Or better yet they'll ask for video proof cuz you describing it isnt good enough for them. You and I can sit back and laugh at them later.

I couldn't be arsed saving replay as wasn't a great race after getting the penalty, just trying catch the pack up. I'm B driver so no pro, Always try pass clean and give room as most do. But could see before and after this incident the supra driver wasn't driving the usual clean driver. Preferring to ram/force others out of the way.
