Honestly was looking forward to trying dailies this week but I can't figure out why now. Done 3 race Bs on 2 different nights each. 6 races. Have not had a clean race yet. Multiple times tonight I get on the inside of the car down the straight, almost completely even as we head to the braking zone and every time they turn in as if I'm not there. I'm on the apex of those 2 odd 90° corners in the final sector? Nope, they're sure they have room to shove it up the inside.

It's just sad. I used to love doing the dailies. They were a huge part of why I was hooked on the game. Now it's just an awful mess of rammers in the middle lobbies. And now my SR is dying. Don't care about DR, but SR used to matter to me. So far the racing has been the same in the "clean" split as the dirty one.
Hey there fellow Kiwi!

Which straight?

I've done lots of Trial Mountain this week, and honestly If its the Start/Finish straight I just dont go two wide into there under any circumstances. It's just too high-risk - at least one person is going to get wiped out and most likely both.

My strategy is to park on the outside gong in to T1. If another driver pulls up inside, I just drop back a little bit right before the turn, and tuck in behind through the section - I'd rather lose one place than 10. And to be honest, most people aren't used to driving through there on a sub-optimal line, so a good proportion of the time they mess it up and wipe themselves out anyway. I carry on my way.

T1 is a pain, I get your logic but if they slow down too much it’s a real **** sandwich, but I’m with you with generally easing up a bit because most people don’t

Two races on B tonight.

Started first race at P3, and finished P3, second started P5 and finished P5. Sounds boring? It wasn't.

Race one I was up to P2 already after a few turns due to a spin from the guy in front. The driver behind me was applying monsterous pressure on me, all very clean, and I had to start drive defensive. P1 vanished quickly in the front, and now the battle was for P2 and P3 only. We had a great battle, side by side action, but in the last turn on L4 I got too defensive and he took the outside, getting better traction out of the turn. He passed me half a meter before the line, 5 thousands of second ahead!

After the race, we complemented each other.

Later, watching the replay, on the last lap I saw P1 in the lead touch the wall at the entrance of the last tunnel, do a 360 at the bottom of the tunnel, come to a full stop, pick it up again and still finish in the lead. Schumacher style at Daytona when he fell asleep bored to death after leading 30 laps.

Race two was way messier. I was up to P4 at one point, down to P8 at another point, and finished P5, same as I started. A bit more chaotic, I was pushed around a few times, mostly depending on driver errors and not intentional from what I could see, even though there were plenty of penalties handed out.

My god, the excitement these races provides are fantastic!

Two B races and dropped from sr S no bar showing to sr A no bar showing. All due to the same person and me 🤔
First race I tried to avoid him as he is recovering from an off by taking to the inside on the grass in hopes to avoid him and bare the .5 penalty yet I touched him when making the move and gained a 4.5 second penalty 👍
Next race he switched to the 911 and again mostly out of sorts goes wide so I take the inside and in the next corner he plows me into the wall good for damage and a 3 second penalty then quits.

Guess I was due for some rough B action since I was racing along with my lucky charms 🍀 on previous days.

Hopefully others can have some better luck than me. 🍻

I tried some more Daily Race Bs over the last few days. The current week is Week 47, at the far right of this chart:

No, I didn't get attacked by anyone anymore (well, at least I haven't been targeted specifically by anyone). But nearly every race I've been in, I made either a large mistake that cost me, or a small mistake that allowed everyone behind me to blow past me while mashing me into a wall and giving me no chance in the race.

This is what an absolutely crappy last two weeks looks like. If you see nothing else, notice the amount of red.

With this track, little mistakes can cost BIG.

I've been having a blast out on the Mountain. Was mostly a quiet day with the Holiday and such, and I was hoping to catch the midday crowd all jacked-up on tryptophan, so went racing. Unfortunately nobody was dozin' so no wins for me, but it made for some AWESOME racing.

Love these finishes...drag to the flag and we both finished with the same gap to the leader:

That be a P2 on the chalkboard for me, thank you very much.😁

For those strugglin' with crappy lobbies, I hope your luck takes a turn for the better. I've had a couple races where crashy-mc****-face decides to ruin it for everyone, but that's out of more than a dozen races yesterday and today.

Confession Couch (Couch of Shame?)
So, was in a swarm of cars at one point last evening (Race B). The melee began around T3 L1, and from there forward we left Sr-smeared pavement behind us like an oil-stain. Several agonizing turns later, and with all of us still careening down the track like an F5 tornado, I lost it a bit and just stood on it. Best IRL correlation I can come-up with is sitting at your desk in a cube farm with a half-dozen people screaming at you...sometimes you gotta shoot for that gap at all costs. Momentary lapse of reason, if you will. Sorry about that...

"The Confessional" could be the best, worst/worst, best idea for a thread ever.🙃

Glad to hear it was going well for you today. I had a little rough spot so went back to qualify so I can hopefully start higher than p11 and I also just had to do a little Daytona TT while I had the chance.

Maybe see you at the mountain tomorrow 😁

You A+? Only ask because I've been starting P2 - 8 (typically 3/5) in A/A+ lobbies and you're a couple tenths faster than I am already. I'm only midway on the bar for A at this point...sounds like it might be a good idea to keep it there for a bit.😁

Regardless, good luck and see you out there! 👍

Would you be ok if PD started to treat these races for what they are, sprint races, and remove these mandatory pit stops and even lower the fuel/tyre wear?

It seems so silly to force pit stops on sub 30 minutes races.

At the same time they could create race D, 30-45 minutes, always race cars, and then have the pit stops and strategy.

They could, but then there'd be a vocal faction screaming about a lack of strategy present in the online races. Now if they'd add another race, as you mentioned, then they could and keep people happy content for the moment.

BUT...PD seemed challenged with filling three slots and keepin' it lively from week-to-week already. Now they're squeezin' the life outta one poor soul behind a keyboard to churn-out five MORE fillers in similarly grueling rotation. When coupled with a bucket of farqs that's never been anything but empty, I just don't think they have it in 'em. 🤣

But that’s the issue. More often then not it’s not a strategy. It’s just the illusion of strategy.

And if they had a running series of gt4/gt3, 30/45’ races with 1 mandatory pit stop, all they need to do is to change the track each week. That doesn’t take more than 5 minutes to come up with.

lol. Further from A+ after yesterday but have been working towards it for the next gtws. Definitely within reach but not too worried about it since season finished. Can’t compete on my friends list when I get dealt lower GT1 splits 😉

I went into the vortex in my first race yesterday and then in the second race I knew I should have waited to pass until that guy either went off due to his control issues or picked a spot to gap considerably as I passed.

Failed on both of those and got an A/A rating for it so I stopped to race another day because I have been having lots of fun on the mountain 😁

Been reading this thread for a while but decided to make an account here. I'm a pretty solid B/S driver, but don't get a lot of time to play due to work. Just started on GT7 a couple months ago.

Trial Mountain has been an absolute disaster every single race for me. My DR has been falling since I keep getting divebombed on the last turns before the finish. Or cars behind me continually miss their braking after the long straight and take me into the wall. My last race the same guy ran me off course twice after I made it back to the pack. How these people maintain an S rating driving incompetent like this is beyond me.

I love TM as a time trial but I can't stand attempting to race on this turd of a course.

Welcome aboard! Yeah, if you read my post earlier, I've been having a bear of a time at Trial Mountain. However, I don't usually have many issues with the final chicane, unless of course I do something wrong.

If it looks like someone might try and squeeze between you and the first corner (the left-hand turn at the start of the final chicane), then just make sure you approach the turn hugging the corner. It means you have to brake earlier, and you may not get as good of an exit, but hopefully it will prevent some divebombings.

I hope that helps!

Whelp. A disconnect in my first race of C saw me disconnect. Which dropped me into DR C bigtime. Not like last time where I was quite near the top, but in the 50 percent range. My next race finished properly. Despite racing with all DR B's and being promoted to 10th thanks to tyre penalties I still dropped DR!

Welcome! This community is great and there are threads for whatever your interests are with like individuals.
Continually learning and sharing tips to help us get better.

Not sure if you tried B race a few times and it was all the same or if it was at different times. I usually give it a small break if I’m matched with someone who is wreaking havoc so I can have a better experience.

If it’s not fun there are other ways to enjoy the game so I don’t push it. TT’s have been a great challenge and joining the gtp leaderboard helps push me to do my best and gage improvement.
Hope to see you over there soon 😎

I'm taking advantage of having the day off of work to get some afternoon racing in earlier. I didn't improve my qualifying time and it was fine based on my starts.

Race 1 had me in P7 and I got dive-bombed entering the big sweeping turn after the backstretch on lap 1. They came in too hot with the slipstream so it was an accident but still annoying to be hit. Nothing else happens and I finish P7 and ran by myself the entire race after the collision.

Race 2 has me P5 on the grid and it was another clean race. The top 5 broke away from the field and we were all racing hard. I get a great run on lap 3 on P4 and made a pass on the backstretch. They go very deep in the sweeper and I easily take the spot. I hold on and finish P4. I call it a day after that.

Getting the SR back to full S may take more B races than I expected. Started in SR hell on my first race but went straight back to S with a CRB.
Over 4 races and 2 CRB mixed with a little bit of chaos put me at 25% S with a roller coaster effect.

I’m happy that we can see where we’re at within the SR range because it takes a bit of the mystery out of it.

Fun racing but the number of people losing it in front of me is higher today than i saw previously. Avoiding the carnage and trying not to lose places because of it increases the challenge for sure.

Some white knuckle racing out there today, and I'm on a controller.🤣

Just absolutely nuts nose-to-tail runnin' around the course like it's a roller coaster. So. Much. Fun. Problem is, one little slip and it's a yard sale on parts with groups of wounded cars striving to hold position while driving sideways. Been able to score a bunch of top 10's along the way so hoping this wave carries into the weekend. Did finally realize something, tho...

Giving someone a place back after an incident during a race is truly an art to master. I haven't. I suppose IRL situations like these would cause the whole pack to slow down but here, no, its torpedo time. This place exemplifies the saying of "No good deed goes unpunished." My hat is off to those of you here that can pull that off without causing complete upheaval.

Enjoy the drive!👍

Definitely rough out there today and I need to call it a night. 7 B races in a day is pretty good for this old guy.

Raced early afternoon and took a break to hopefully get a different crew after finally recovering some of my SR back to S.

This evening I had a total of two .5 second limit penalties yet still kept getting the purgatory lobbies with A and B SR ratings.

I got my SR S up to 65% S and the last race I did was full of the same crew and even though I gained one .5 second limit penalty on lap 2, I dropped from S 65% to A 87% 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

I stopped racing Sardenga last week to not get into SR trouble but TM is doing some damage.

Silver lining is that by trying to get my SR S back to full, I gained back all of the DR I lost in my disconnects earlier this week 👍

May need to stick to TT and fun lobbies for the weekend if it’s gonna be like this and my SR is tanked.

Sometimes, I should just keep my mouth shut. Or fingers off the kbd. Something.

The good news? Another CRB.

The interesting news? You can hit the walls a half-dozen times and still get a CRB at Sardegna this week.

The bad news? The fact that I know the "interesting news" from personal experience.

Seriously, sometimes I just plain suck and there's no other way to look at i

The family bought me a PS5.
I don't have the heart to tell them I am pretty tired of the game right now

Will race more with friends, that usually fixes it
Well I am hoping to get my hands on a ps5 by this Christmas or the next one, I'll need to start a savings bank in order to do it.

Yeah. that's one of the common places people try to squeeze by. If you've got someone behind you who looks like they might try it, you just have to bite the bullet and hug the left side, even if it's the slower line.
So. Much. Fun. Problem is, one little slip and it's a yard sale
I know, right?!? That's been my experience, and one of the reasons this week has been so frustrating for me.

That's awesome! Sometimes it feels like a monumental task for something like that, but it sure feels good to accomplish it. Good on ya.

I improved my quali for B today, down to 1.52.3 now. This put me at Q2 in my first race for the day in a full B-S lobby. I noticed early on in the race that P3 was very hungry and started to show himself in my mirrors in the most impossible places. I knew early on that it would end in tears for us both, and stopped defending to enable him to pass. In the long straight after the tunnel we were side by side, i'm on the outside. Pretty safe place to let him pass. I left the entire turn to him to do what he liked, and can you guess? He used that freedom to hit me hard in the side at the exit and basically parked me. No penalties :-)

Ah well.

Race two had me in P14, and I was chocked by the poor grid position until I saw I was now in a A lobby with two B drivers. Oh no, did I make it to A? In any case, I finished P14, got negative DR (?), exited to the sport start screen to see my status - no, still B. Phew. Been in a few A-lobbies, and honestly I'm a B driver, and happy to stay there.

This week's Race B has me scratching my head again...

Sure, I'm definitely rusty from taking nearly 2 weeks away. The lunchtime lobbies are quite violent, and I'm having to fall back on my good habits to get any kind of result here.

Never, ever go two wide into the first sector. Nobody walks away from that!

I love racing around here, but that sector 1 requires clean driving from everyone due to the fact any small mistake inevitably affects everyone when the pack is even slightly bunched up. There's a real domino effect going on, and people don't seem to have the reactions or the race craft to mitigate for problems.
