Hello everyone,
I never wrote about any of my races, but I feel like sharing this moment with you.
When GT7 came out, I bought a PS5 and the game. I did play with the controller back then, mediocre racer, too many crashes, DR C maximum low B. It didn't take me long to realize though that my exisiting wrist problem on the right hand does also appear while constantly pressing the R button as well. Before I was mainly limited in exercising, for example doing push ups was impossible for me. Well, simple solution, just don't play any Playstation anymore! It kept collecting dust for half a year until I was at a friends place who had a wheel. I gave it a try and realized it does not hurt my wrist that much.
February 2023 I decided to buy a DD Pro and soon after the VR and a gear stick followed which got me completely hooked. Unfortunately the fun did not last too long, my wrist problems got worse during a holiday where I played the babysitter of my friends' kids and carried 2-3 year old boys around. All of a sudden both my wrists are causing me quite some pain. Even though with the wheel the pain was not that bad I had to limit my playing time.
Issues on both wrists are obviously a disaster. If a doctor tells you to rest them, you can basically just watch TV the whole day. I went to see a specialist abroad and he finally diagnosed me with the Ulnar-Impaction-Syndrom and was confident that an arthroscopy might help. Just a week before the surgery I managed to get to DR A. Racing the manufacturers cup at Suzuka with rain in GT1 group was surely my best gaming experience ever.
Short after PD had different plans though and with the update came the loading screen bug in October 2023. In my last race before the surgery, Le Mans, Gr2, dynamic weather (one of the best weekly races ever in my opinion, even though it was a one-make) the loading screen crashed again, I lost my SR and therefore got downgraded to low DR B again. A few days after I did the surgery and I was once again done with racing for quite some time.
4 weeks after the surgery I did my first race and it felt quite ok. Since then my wrist has extremely improved and I am almost pain free on the right wrist. One day I might do the same surgery for the left. Today marks the first day of reaching DR A again, once again with the CLK. Starting P8, finising P3, super clean racing by everyone, no tyre change, it worked out perfectly.
Thanks to everyone who is actively posting here, I am reading many of your posts and it kept me motivated. It is such a fun hobby.
