My actual time at Spa is 2'36.314. Idk how to improve greatly though. I keep making the same mistakes, it's getting old. I need to pull some tricks up my sleeve to help me save time.
What are you driving? I went two seconds faster instantly using the Mazda and I hate that bloody car.

Let’s dream, Gr. 1 or Super Formula, 40min race at RBR with dynamic weather!! Anyone else would love to see that?
Sounds fun, but potential for weather means limiting strategy choices, as everyone will wait as late as possible to pit, in case it rains, unless it rain early of course. I'd rather see more options on tyre choice, to bring more permutations on car and strategy into play. Should you go for something fast and thirsty and pit twice for softs and/or mediums, or opt for something more frugal and pit once for 2 stints on hard? It would keep it interesting to the end as different strategies playout.

Personally - Race C Suzuka best circuit for me - 20 laps race on a good track where you need to keep a good racing lines, first corner trail bracking etc etc - really enjoyed :), long race - you can wait for mistake by setting longer on rear spoiler of opponent and keep a good pace / tire savings tactics for last laps and many players are not so aggressive as it is still a long race. I would put even more on tires degradation. At least under lobby A - all races done so far was super nice for me. Reb Bull Ring if 40m should be also super nice :)

I'm using the Mclaren 650S. I don't know if I should switch to another car or just keep using what I'm using. I hate RBR, it's a penalty fest there especially the first two right turns after I pass the finish line. However the A and B races will be satisfying and interesting to do.

You need to short shift like crazy, especially on corner exits.

In general, the power band for the car is just in lower RPMs, so shift when the bar gets to around the gear number.

On corner exits, the torque of the lower gears shifts the weight back, which lessens the grip on the front wheels, causing understeer. You can also manage the throttle to combat this, but the easier thing is just to limit the wheel torque by shifting up earlier.

I would recommend watching Tidgney's video on this week's races. He does a lap guide in the 650S. His pointers got me from a 2:32.8 to a 2:31.0 pretty quickly.

I followed his guides but can’t get anywhere near that in either the 650S or the 458. I’m down to 2.31.8 in the Mazda but there’s at least a 2.31.3 in there if I could string all three sectors together.

And weather?! Please PD!

We gonna make Ocon at Bahrain last year look good. I thin Ocon is still in the pit lane serving his pens as I type!
I would prefer they stabilise longer races before throwing weather in, but I know I'm in the minority because I don't play all that much so having the same conditions for every race is not an issue for me.

And I don't like driving in the rain 😁

Ok, I'll take a look at his guides tonight, I need to focus and pay attention to what he does during his lap. Thanks for giving me an idea of what to do on the corner exits.

Annnnd on the best race C of the year im riding pine…

Dd pro.. after downgrading, flashing, reallocating wires around the rig, and anything else i could think of..decided to chain disconnect yesterday. Dd extreme has been, handed over to warehouse, since the 9th without a peep..

Ugh..this sucks..
Join the controller gang, just for a few days. We don't bite.

Hah. Mebbe!

But honestly, my hands suck with that thing after about 20min. Broken them each a few times, tendons have been reattached, and a lot of time in the cold makes the subtle controller movements a bit of a bear. They aren’t completely trash or anything..just annoying when it comes to fine motor skills over time.

Dang, I wonder how many penalties I'd rack up at RBR next week? It will hit my DR in a bad way, I know it. I'm a professional controller user, haven't used a wheel since 2005 when I played NFS: Most Wanted and GT3/GT4. Those were my hot games back in the early 2000's on the Playstation 2.

A couple more race Cs last night. Used the Porsche for both.

Race 1: 5PM EST, mixed lobby - mostly B/S, with a few A/Ss. I managed to improve my QT to 2:00:8 during the practice before the race. That put me at P9 to start. Lap 1 was generous to me, and I came out it in P6. The race kept on giving. I ran to a P4 finish with hardly any effort at overtaking or defending. It was all just keeping the car on the track and driving the laps.

Race 2: 7PM EST, all B/S. Improved my QT a shade more to 2:00.7. Started P7. Survived lap 1 without any significant changes in position. A few laps in, I came out of Spoon to find a car taking a penalty on the left side of the track. It looked like a longer one and the car was very slow, so I thought I'd be able to easily get by them before reaching 130R. I was wrong. They got up to speed much quicker than I expected and before I knew it we were side-by-side barreling toward 130R. I was hoping they would back out, but as we got closer they didn't show any signs they were. I tapped my brakes so I could tuck in behind, but the driver behind me was, unsurprisingly, not expecting it and plowed into me, sending me across the sand and into the wall. Once I got myself sorted, I was at the back of the field. I just couldn't find my groove after that. I was making all kinds of mistakes, including a 3-second pit-lane penalty and trip to the sand at Degna trying to get around a car that was rejoining after they crashed (all my fault, not theirs). In the end, I managed to pick up a few positions to finish in P11 (with 3 drivers DNFing), over a minute behind the leaders, feeling pretty bummed about my performance. But that's racing.

Still loving these longer races, though. Looking forward to trying more again tonight.

Oh I didn't know that. Plus the X-box controllers have weird buttons, X/Y, etc. The PS ones are less confusing. But if I do end up getting an X-box in the future I guess I could get used to it. Time will tell what I decide to do.

I'm confused by your "elite controller user" comment then... What are you referring to if not the Xbox Elite Controller?

I'll delete that post or change it, I meant I was a long time controller user for the ps4, meaning that I'm a pro. Maybe I should put professional instead of elite.

EDIT: I changed my post up there.

Umm... no. Time served doesn't equate to professional or elite level.

From recollection you're a C/D driver and normally bronze in Time Trials, and exclusively AT until recently? You're going to need to be A+ and normally gold before you can consider yourself pro/elite - and even then there's a gap between the elite and the others.

If you just want to give the impression of being a long-term controller user, you can just say that. There's nothing wrong with being the level you are or with using a controller. You don't need to use terms like "pro" and "elite"; it comes across as unearned arrogance, as if you're trying to inflate your abilities - which I'm sure is not what you're aiming for...

Dan Solis is an elite player who uses the controller.

So, you used the 650S too?
I tried a couple of other cars on the leaderboard, and as soon as I switched to the 650s, I cut a second off my time. Assuming I actually spend more time with the game today, there's no guarantee I'll keep using it, but I probably will.

What has actually surprised me quite a lot is not the race format but for a daily they are willing to give up the 2 race lobbies per hour.

That comes with some huge downsides for them if someone misses the on the hour start time then it's a really really long wait to race. Bold move.
Out of curiosity, what is the upside or downside for PD when they set up the dailies? They aren’t gaining or losing money. Do the numbers affect their revenue somehow? Honest question, not a sarcastic rhetorical question.

It seems like they ought to experiment more, not less, if they want to get more people involved. But I’ll confess I don’t really know what motivates their choices for the daily races. I’m under the impression that they want to attract more casual players, but I’m not sure how changing things up will change how many casuals try them out. And I certainly don’t see how mixing things up will lose regulars, unless they bungle it badly.

All they have to do is listen to what we want and add one or two things a week to vary it up. Race C should always have higher tire and fuel rates and more tire compound choices. That’s all it would take to make strategies real, and I don’t see how that would “scare off” casual racers who are just dabbling anyway. It’s exasperating!!!
Makes my head spin just thinking about it.
Your comment was about the 20 laps on Race C. I was on lap 18 last night and I suddenly remembered how you always say you lack the attention span to do any Race C, and as I was thinking about it I suddenly lost my attention span while doing Race C!!!! I blacked out at the spoon and luckily was saved by muscle memory and woke up enough to finish! I took P3 in fact after P1 ran out of gas!
The 45 minute race is a nice change but unfortunately for me Group 3 Suzuka just isn't that interestingfor racing
I totally agree. It’s a horrible track for overtakes and good racing! I don’t know what an ideal track would be for a long race like this, but I’m imagining that 20 laps at Watkins Glen would be some amazing g racing!
Daily C this week is what most of us was asking for.
Lots of competitive cars (well done PD with that BOP!) and a race long enough to correct mistakes with possible comebacks.

Im not complaining (best combo so far) but imagine how good it should be this same combo with dynamic weather and 20 or 24 cars on track... (let me dream, please).

Sadly for me, Im having a very busy week and I just could made 2 races so far
Yesterday some alien descent to race the mere mortals and this was the final result.
Cooper pulled 35.8 seconds to the following pack

Must be boring to be that lonely at the front :D

That’s a weird lobby! A good share of A+ drivers, yet the top 10 improved their DR?! Someone really really good must have DNFed.
Love to know how I saved this slide, especially as I’m on that stupid astroturf stuff like is like glass.
Dude, I had a similar slide but on the inside of the turn! I got some serious oversteer on old tires as I braked into T1 and slid sideways through the grass and back onto the track for the esses! I had dirty tires but was still able to hold off the guy behind me who took the turn the old fashioned way.

After a few Races C this week, I’m having good fun. But boy is it sweaty! I’d absolutely love it if they made all tire compounds available for us, with a higher tire wear rate. It would open up the possible strategies and make this a truly strategic race!

I'm going to sit down and eat lunch so it will be a while before I come back and post, I am on my 15th Spa race and things are starting to heat up. I've noticed this morning there were a lot more aggressive drivers, some bumped into the back of me near Sector 4 causing my car to lose control and hit the wall. Pissed me off so bad, finished 14th in Race #7 which I did not record. Races 8-14 were better but still I did not do as well as I intended to.

So, apparently the 650S isn't the best car for Spa. Other pros may find it a perfect car combo, but not me.

My back was feeling well enough that I was able to put in some quali laps for each of the races. I started Race C quali in the M6, but did not feel right after all my MR use in the Manufacturer series (Ferrari/McLaren). Put in quite a few laps then immediately beat my best time with the 911 RSR, which I have never driven in a race.

I feel like I can "Senna" the throttle to generate oversteer when I need it in the MR cars without losing control and am very slow and also somehow more unstable in the corners in the M6/AMG. This is all probably because I suck in general. If anyone could suggest a good non-clickbait video explaining the driving style differences needed it would be appreciated.

One benefit of the controller being the limited hand settings. For me, it's either:
  • Arthritic
  • Injured
  • Influenced
'Influenced' usually yields the best QT's, though.🤣

Jesus... talk about being thrown into the deep end!

I managed a 2:29:7 on B Account and.... Put in a lobby with drivers who are in the top 150 in terms of lap times! 😅 This all meant I started exactly before the turn into the start/ finish straight in P12 ⚰️ Managed to not spin within a second of starting lol and just did my race.

Ended Sector 1 a whole 8s behind leader lol (thanks PD) but I kept within pace and took advantage of some battles ahead of me, and managed clean overtakes when exiting Sector 2 thanks to them slowing each other up! Finished in P10 and still within 8s of winner, so quite happy with my race 😀

Finally did 2 mistake-free Race C’s yesterday. Won the 1st race from 2nd, and landed in a loaded lobby (11x A+ drivers!) in the 2nd race. Race was quite eventful with me defending hard from Lap 2 to 6 (Won’t be doing so if I knew they were 2s per lap quicker!) but both drivers passed me cleanly. Did consistent 2:00 laps in 1st stint and 1:59’s after pitting, around 1-2s off the pace of the front running guys. Ended up 5th after Rory (rarely) made 2 mistakes in the final laps.

Full race below - don’t think anyone got time for the entire 40 mins so I also included the Acton time stamps.

00:00 - Race start from 10th, Got into 9th
02:00 - Defending 7th after messing up 130R
03:36 - Defending 7th against a very rapid Merc
06:08 - Defending 7th against a very rapid McLaren
20:18 - At 1st due to cars in front pitting at Lap 10
24:12 - Pitting at the end of Lap 12
39:03 - Passed the Merc for 5th after his mistake
40:36 - Checkered Flag
