I bring to you the story of this absolute weapon, mostly as a warning as he's knocking around in high C / low B lobbies and this is his level of performance:

Now I decided to stick out the race so I could share that, and I'm glad I did because so did he!
He finally gets back onto someone here and what a shock, they're family..

Not done yet, our new hero arrives on the scene on the very last lap, blood still on the tongue..

It gave me some laughs at least, I hope it did for you. What a total shambles this game can be.

What a bunch of dingbats. I guess Germans and Italians have no love for each other!

I must have had incredible luck yesterday as I avoided Turn 1 melees at Monza. Unfortunately I did bump someone off at Lesmo 2 in one race, I had a huge run and they braked early. This combo is a blast to drive, just don't hit those curbs in Ascari.

you gotta know when to hold'em, you gotta know when to fold'em

Enjoyed last weeks, this weeks aren't for me and that's absolutely ok.

I'll spend the rest of this week working on my TT time and finding the 1s at the ring for my gold

Bit of St. Paddy's love for Race A this week for anyone who fancies it

@MidnightRun85 Slowly but surely coming for the throne :yuck:

I have had a few incidents, where I ran off track to avoid someone and has been hit off a few times but other than that no incidents. I drive like you, avoid other cars by braking or changing path so I have no trouble when moving up through the field.
There's a fair amount of ghosting in T1 as well, I am B/S, have they extended ghosting?
A lot of ghosting on T1 in the mixed A lobbies so far. I wish it were more, to be honest. I’m getting killed every single time. It’s ruining (at least for me) what could be a really fun race.
But if someone else runs into you you can still get a clean race bonus but you loose 5 SR from that contact I believe. @Sven Jurgens can tell us exactly how much.
It was insane. One bad collision that cost you 3 points, would require 3 clean races just to break even.
Any contact what so ever losses you SR points. Sometimes you rack up enough SR points in the clean parts to conserve the SR S, sometimes not
All of these facts drive me nuts! The logic is insane, especially without any penalties.

Avoid contact and leave the track? Penalty and loose clean race bonus. Probably SR too.

Go ahead and just keep racing and don’t rank your race to avoid contact? SR loss and no clean race bonus.

Try desperately to avoid contact, don’t initiate any incidents at all, but get caught in someone else’s scrum? Lose CRB and SR points.

Run from the back of the race to try to mend all the SR loss? It takes an evening of races to get back to where you started, IF you can avoid someone else randomly making contact with you.

None of this makes any sense. Most people who are not us don’t seem to be motivated by their SR. No penalties? No problem! Keep pushing and pushing to get that win.

The only penalties I’m seeing are gasp track limit penalties! That’ll teach all those dirty cheaters. Meanwhile, ten cars all ricochet off of each other and one poor car at the front of the mess wobbles away with a TEN SECOND penalty. Ask me how I know?

If PD can’t figure out a penalty system that at least reflects their SR system, then I don’t know what they’re trying to “simulate” in their online racing.

It's not the same thing but you have to wonder how all the real world whatever championship racers do it when they only get one or 2 chances a week to get results.

Natural talent. Real world drivers could probably beat us driving a 1960s mini vs us in a modern supercar.. To them it probably does not matter if it is virtual or not.
Nope. Germans actually love italians, but have a hard time admitting it. 😆
Germans secretly envious of the Italian attitude towards engineering?

German: We will engineer this gadget to the nth degree and make it fiendishly complicated in the pursuit of perfection.

Italian: There it looks pretty; that's good enough!

EDIT and not to pick on any one nation, I'll throw the British in (being ex-brit): Let's see now, what can I craft with this bucket of bolts I found in my shed... While I think about that, I'll put the kettle on for a cup of tea..

American: What do you mean this M8 bolt won't fit in a 5/16ths hole? Come to think of it, what measuring system we're using today?

:D

I drive in Automatic so I don't have a 1 stop option in race C. In my first race yesterday I had the lead for 8 laps. I went 8M and 2H and ended up losing by .178 of a second to a guy that was running out of fuel. He was ahead of me when I came out of the pits...

I think I got a bit lazy/careful with my pace when I had such a big lead in time.

NOTE: Would have been my 2nd win in GT7 in over 200 races.. I am not kidding...that almost seems hard to do even if you are trying to lose on purpose.., which I am not...lol. But, I tend to over-qualify and admittedly don't race well. And I seldom get slotted in the 1, 2 and 3 spot to start.....

All still fun though..

They had a penalty system that worked when they released GTS, but load vocal complaint made them adapt it. Then for a long time in GTS there where adjustment after adjustment until they more or less gave up.
The problem is that the "don't make yourself look bad" doesn't register with a lot of people.

There's a very very long thread somewhere here on GTP another penalty system in GTS. And it's the same with this. . It rewards the ones abusing the system because it's based on honour. And if they have no honour it doesn't work for them.

Daily race A is brilliant, it can get chaotic, but being able to follow so closely in the tricky to drive cars is a great combo. I did 4 races, had a great qualifying lap, but still struggled in the race. Died twice in Ascari, since I did not respect the kerbs enough, and one 4th place finish in the race I did not start from pole.

But the highlight of the night was the second race I did, which I started from pole. T1 went well, but then got punted off the track into the second chicane and fell down to P4. Not ideal, but could have lost even more, and the rammer got a deserved big penalty. Start of lap 2 the 2 drivers ahead were fighting and the frenchman outbraked himself into T1, lost control and got track reset, back up to P2. From there had a brilliant fight for the win, at times I was close to the leader, at times a bit too far back.

After first third of lap 5 looked like I was too far back, but then I nailed the second Lesmo and got really close to the leader before Ascari. Got a slightly better exit than the leader, and we went side by side into the last corner Alboreto (formerly known as Parabolica). I noticed the leader braked slightly later, but went a bit wide, and he failed to fully close the inside, so I did a switcheroo, with a minor bump, and just got ahead to win the race 😎 Been quite a few months since my last sport mode win, so this felt really good. Brilliant clean but fair racing for the win 🏁

Has anyone successfully fuel saved on race C this week? I started out with Fuel map at 2 and short shifted the whole way. Ended up going to fuel map 6 on the last lap and finished with 0.0 fuel left. Started p7 ended p12.

I know I have a lot of room to improve but that is severely off pace.

I used the TT.

You nailed it with your point about honor. I totally understand. People will always find a way to game the system. Unfortunately, right now, the “game” is to be as horrible to everyone else as possible with almost no repercussions. Honor obviously isn’t motivating people, but it ought to be motivating PD, right? They should want to at least have a game where people can expect to have at least a few reasonable rules enforced, other than wall riding and track limits. At this point a bad penalty system would be far better than no system at all because it’s pretty obvious that people won’t police themselves. I know some people will still abuse the system, but if there was at least a risk of penalties it might minimize some of the ought right filthy tactics we’re seeing today.

I’m willing to admit that I may be a bit too optimistic about that though. . .

Very short shifting! On the Toyota 86 it’s before the halfway point in the rev bar. On the Ferrari it’s just as the light is visible on the bar. On the TT, it varies. Here’s Tidgney’s latest video about it.

Second race at Interlagos this week, and I got absolutely creamed in T1 of Lap 1, ruining my race (P5 to P15). The guy managed to wrack up 8.5 seconds of penalties in the first 32 seconds, and I have no idea what he was thinking.

Looks like I need to be a lot more aggressive on the short shifting.

Thanks

Yippee....Just won 2 in a row - from the pole each time... got my 2023 quota and tripled my win total....lol

Crack, booze or the cat jumped onto the controller…

Well, my only race C tonight was a disaster. I did start P7 on the grid with my 2:05.4XX qualifying time. But it doesn't mean a thing as I was in another stacked room and I had no race pace. The no stop on hard tire strategy did me no favors. I let so many cars by in the final laps not to hold them up. No point in fighting faster drivers. I finish P15 with a clean race bonus as a reward even though I got an off track penalty. No idea why I got that. I might do one more tomorrow with starting on the hard tire then switching to the medium tire and a top of of fuel for insurance after lap 1. A boring race to me and I doubt it would have been any better in an all B rank lobby.

Managed to improve my QT for B but still in the 1:32s Thanks to following @ILLEAGLE_34 ghost.

Entered a race and started P6. Ended up coming third! Woohoo!

My heart is pounding from that. Fast race.. Can’t cope with another tonight..

Perhaps I’ll do an A and cruise around at the back..

EDIT

Did race A. Not as on form as the other night but still a good race. Started P4 and finished P5. No real drama. I wasn’t driving very fast and then decided to switch TCS off. Drove better after that. Thanks to @RacingGrandpa for the grid launch tips. Only lost one spot this time!

The Car is impossible with TCS on. I think it drives much much better with all assist off, except ABS.
It rotates more natural and you can feel what it does much better.

I agree. I was only planning on having a half-hearted race/more of a cruise do I put TCS at 1 as I’d managed to spin out more than a few times trying (and failing) to improve my QT.

Then as I started to lose places from a top 6 finish it dawned on me why I was going slow and not driving as well. Switched TCS off and all was better. Clawed my way back to end p5. Might have been top 3 if I’d left it off from the start. 🤦‍♂️
