So, after more than 20 years I've tried some easy A race at short Glen. Playing with joypad makes me slower of ar 2 sec from a decent lap. I made my mind, it's ok being slow until I'll grab back a wheel.
What's is lil disappointing is the "kinda destruction derby" way of driving of opponents. I mean, sometimes it's quite nasty.
IE, being 1st (the 2nd was already 10 sec behind) I find my self lapping two opponents on the last lap. They both, in straight line, tried to block me causing a collision. Luckily the software made them transparent so no problem.
Nevertheless my question is?
Does this happens only in "newbies lobbies" (just went from DR E to D) or it's common also in lobbies of Dr A racers?

Exactly, let them waste their time being idiots

I actually found B lobbies have the best standards in general when racing is close. B lobbies are full of those who want to get to A so they care about their safety rating, A/A+ lobbies often have those who don't care. Just my opinion after 18 months playing this game!

Spot on mate, BS is where it’s at 😁 probably because there’s more ppl who are in B so great most of them are committed to fair and hard racing

It'll get better. To be honest, if you're lapping back markers already, you'll probably be C ranked by the time I finish typing this. I'd also venture to guess you won't be in C for long.👍

As others have mentioned, B is a nice place to, well, be. You aren't surrounded by people that MUST be A+ by the end of the race, which seems to be a good portion of A drivers. E - C rank is mostly clumsy incidents cause by inexperienced drivers (or idiots like me) mixed with a couple folks that actually play the game like it's Destruction Derby. You gotta remember, not everyone is there to race and some folks really embrace their chaos agent inner child. They're basically playing a different game than you. If you're old enough to remember 'Jam Cars', treat them similarly.

Another item I bring up over and over again is the time of day you are racing. The earlier in the day, the better the chances for a clean race.

Enjoy the ride and check back often. This thread is a GREAT resource for set-ups, direction and co-miseratin'...just don't call-out drivers by name.😁

To be honest most of it isn't about pace but how you are.

Typically you will improve with a cohort (similar players, you should start to recognise them) and the racing gets "better/closer" you then move to a new group/pool and it takes time to know them, them to recognise you etc.

A portion of players treat it like a sprint to get to the top but it's more like marathon, you have to settle in each time you "level" up.

When you move up a rank you are at the bottom of the known pool and pace pool usually. You have some time as the game is a generous on DR hits.

None of the races that don't include muppets in them are better or worse for the rankings.

But in B you have the biggest spread of ability, pace, race reading and awareness relative to the other groups.

When you get to A or A+ these are the races that their in race times will probably for a while be faster than your fastest QT time. This makes the racing and race pace faster but it also means contact is typically more destructive to your race.

B is a good place to be so to speak but it's not about the letter it's about how you race. Pace will come and you seem to have it but it's how you race that is important.

I find it's the same. It's the same people doing the same things.

Guilty. I'm old and have little patience for childish antics. If people race clean, it's all good. A little rubbing is racing? Sure. But when it become a case where the car is being used as a weapon to aggressively take out the other driver, I give it right back with little concern over ratings.

This is why I was probably in the minority last week, but I liked the fact Race A was Gr4 at Deep Forest as only being able to race in the evening could get to some competitive racing without tanking the DR out of BS due infantile drivers.

Appreciate it was yet another binary Gr4 sprint but got more out of it being Race A than a meme race or odd road car choice most of the time. Race A has so much to offer as but wasted majority of the time.

We will not likely meet anyway, as you are much more elite, but I just wanted to state what that situation looks like from my point of view.)
I'll be honest I've sat on this comment for a day and it really bugged me when you said it.

Please don't mistake me be vocal that I'm good. I am not.

I work hard at improving, braking better, finding better acceleration points, learning from the ghosts and just being more aware of my inputs.

I'm not elite at all, quick sometimes but I've done 5,000 races just for GT7 alone. I'm not elite (speak to Barney or Metal or the guys on the TT thread or Tidgney....) so what I am is rational at comfortable with the game.

Being called elite undermines the support, help and my own rants about the game.

As I said that comment bugged me and 2 years ago I was begging and moaning about going faster and safer. And here we are, I listened.

Ignore my opinions that's fine, embrace them, that's fine. Ignore them that's fine, but for context they come from a guy that joined (again) as a CS driver and now I talk about how to shave thousands.

You will meet me, but you and only you can drive better, cleaner to get their.

You can do it, I did.

Edit: there is no elite juice or power up, just being better with the tools they give us all.

Don't lash out when the playing field is equal, just some play the game in front of them in a different way.

My pace has been a little slow for Brands Hatch, I'm at 0'48.4xx. Well, maybe that's not too bad, but it's unlikely that I will be able to join the 0'47.000 club. I'm just glad it's not the Prix course because that has more turns and corners/deltas. But I like the trees, people and other things in the area. Pleasant to do races here when I can.

Omg I'm so pissed...
Yeah, we got that. Is there any need to turn that into our problem with a post like that?

Please re-read what's expected of you as a GTPlanet member and edit your post accordingly.

Edit: 12 hours later, you've checked in and done nothing about it. Guess I'll do it for you.

Not sure how I feel about next week.

My initial reaction is B and C come off the back of having them recently especially Bathurst.

I know we are 2.5 years in now so things are going to repeat but the schedule seems to use the same tracks at really close intervals sometimes.

Yeah, it does seem to be the same ones a lot - even more than usual. I'm crap at Bathurst, I like Autopolis, but as it's A it'll likely be a weird car with no brakes or grip, or no power. I like Brands, but doing pretty much that this week already. 🤔

Good to see you yesterday - my wheel base started coming loose. Was thinking the FFB was playing up, then realised wheel was actually sliding left and right a bit.

Racing softs for race A again...

So the last five weeks for race A are now race car, kart, race car, (copy & paste week), presumptive race car.

Until they actually do one, I'm just going to assume we aren't getting original road car daily As any more.

Hi there,
I am really sorry that I caused something here that I did not intend at all. Please note, that I wrote “more elite” and with this, I meant better, faster, more experienced than I. I did not say “elite” as an absolute, but as a relative, by using “more elite”.
(Also, english is not my native language, and there may be some connotation to the word elite, that I am not aware of - I don’t know.)

Again, I am sorry, and what I simply meant was:
Since you drive at a higher level than me, I don’t think I am likely any time soon to be in your way, but should it ever happen, as it is now, I just don’t seem to have the mental bandwidth to always, at all times, know the pitting status of all the faster drivers. It is off course duely noted, that it is something to be aware of.
I started racing in May this year, and DR fluctuates from upper C to mid B. Being fast, racing clean AND avoiding the hell that is super-optimist/aggressive I-caught-up-to-you-and-will-push-you-off-track-while-laughing drivers, is something that very often requires 103% of my attention. Over time, I will hopefully gain more routine that will allow me to free up some mental surplus.

Oh well - A lot of words. To be honest I just felt a need to defend myself a bit, as I felt the term “immature” was perhaps not the most fitting for me. At least not if “immature” is in the meaning of the mental state of the average 14 year old boy. It could off course also be in the meaning “a race driver who in his carreer has not reached a level of maturity.” Yup, I’ll take that - guilty of charge.☺️

I hope that cleared up what I meant.

I'm having fun at Brands Hatch this week. Don't know if I should call it racing, although I did manage some overtakes by staying on the inside of the last corner. It's mainly lapping constantly, and hoping to jump some people with different pit strategies. Apparently I could lap quite consistently this week. In B / S lobbies I finished on the podium every time after starting from P2 - P4 (no win though alas). One time I started P8, but that was a lobby with quite some DR A drivers and even a A+ person. Managed to keep the P8 and defeat some DR A's in the process, so that was nice.

Concerning next week.. I like Autopolis but I don't like Daily races A generally. So maybe Brands Hatch again. Mount Doom is also nice but not a track I'm particularly good at.

Brands two weeks in a row; Bathurst was just in the rotation as well, and a recent TT. *sigh

RS on Race A around Autopolis, rolling start is probably Gr2. Another repeat but at least it's been a while for this combo.

Dare I suggest a road car with slicks?! You do know that's actually possible, right PD?! People do it all the time... drive their road car to the track for the weekend and bring a set of wheels/slick tires to swap out once they get there; then put their street tires back on before leaving. Seen it done many-a-times; quite the common practice. It's kinda funny to see a Miata with a trailer just big enough to tow their extra set of wheels/tires, jack, stands, and some basic tools. How cool is this?!

Anyway, why bother... it won't happen. I might try some A next week depending on the car but won't be touching B or C.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all the answers/adivises, looking forward to get to B rank. I shared a replay of one of my yesterday's A races (quite a case study). At 1st corner I was "sent coutryside" by the 3rd on the grid that tried to knock out me (starting 2nd) and the poleman alltogheter in one dirty move. The system cut his engine afterwards, menwhile I was recovering in 7th (with lil anger rising and the curiosity of seeing what I cold achieve from that point)... Demage was done and effective anyway. Long story short, I found my self 1st at the beginning of 4th lap, whitout touching anybody; not even a single kiss (I actually did only 6 overtakes cause the last wasn't really one since the guy spun alone "under pressure"). As soon as I understand how to post replays on the forum, it'll be available, just to show how fun is to race others without colliding with them.

Super easy to save and push them up to YT/out to a memory stick from the console. Once uploaded, copy the link outta YT and paste it in the body of the message. Done.😁

Congrats on moving up the ranks.👍
