First day using wheel. Tokyo A is an easy track, no need to brake.
For Sardegna B I'll need to do some practice to be at pace during weekend. Still need to find a better and more confy position for pedals.

As a fan of longer races, I already tried Spa three times. None of them were boring, most of them had dirty drivers though.

Latest one I started on Pole, ended on P7. I am just trying to be the nice guy which avoids contact at all costs, while others are totally ruthless.

The attempt before I got punted from behind in the last chicane in lap 1 and while trying to reenter the track I collide with another driver and I end up crashing into the pit… now what? Quit? Never. No tyre change obv, 3s penalty for pit lane crossing, BUT this is why I love longer races, I kept calm and raced consistent and ended up on P6 with dead tyres!

So I am enjoying it, driving standards are aweful unfortunately so far.

This has been my experiences over last few weeks on the daily races. I see some making zero effort to avoid contact and push you out. It ruins the fun.

Because of that I switched to racing lobbies instead and have been having a lot of nice and clean competitions.

I tried spa yesterday and had good experience, I happened to be racing with "papa house of game" and other familiar racer I have seen before , was fun.
I like going for long haul and study what the guy is doing in front for a lap or 2 before making a move. I will be racing spa again for sure.

Oh, whenever I finish the A races, my van that I bought, it prompts me to change my tires to soft when I already bought them and installed them, I'll have to show a video later explaining what I mean, I'll try to post it by tomorrow. See when I purchased the Hiace it was already equipped with medium tires.
You need to change the tyres from the car settings in the garage from the world map.

If you change them from the race setup screen they'll revert back every time you finish a race.

Man race B is tough going - starting mid pack in the 458 and finishing near last through errors of my own and getting caught up in incidents. I need to improve how I do the last third of the lap, and that tricky turns 2 and 3 part, but really the Ferrari is just too slow on the long straights.

Nice to meet @ElectricNaz and @Duppy Gee a couple of times 👋
Woof woof hello!

Bark bark grrrowl yelp barky bark

(that's means nice to have met you today buddy)

I really want to like race C but....

The fact that longer races are creeping into daily races is a good thing but they need to expand their thinking. Simply making a race longer doesn't cut it. I also think there should be a monetary penalty for quitting...like 100000 credits or something. I've only raced twice, both times there were 8 cars that finished.

Can you imagine race C with 30 cars or so, now that would be fun!!!...in a chaotic, crazy way haha.

I'm enjoying race B though, have had some great races. It amazes me how much closer the racing is as one jumps up into B from C.

I just did my first daily race on Tokyo Expressway. I don’t think my competitors have the message that SR is enabled on this. Oh my what a **** show.

They were just going at each other trying to crash each other out - thinking it’s a game of demolition Derby, not racing. It was hilarious but terrible at the same time.

Edit.

Had a second go. This time I’d practice my grid start and figured out how to get a good start. In both races 1st pulled off to the side (I think to chase from behind) and that left me in the lead (I was 2nd with a global 345th time). I kept it clean and avoided to drama behind for an easy win.

Well, I've been truly motivated this week, I've already done almost 20 races at Tokyo and 11 at Sardegna, I do not usually get this far so what does that tell you? PD finally chose the right combos except for the Spa endurance race. That one I'm skipping this week.

@TheNormsk how are you guys getting below 1'53.000? Wow, I was lucky I got a lap time in the 1'59.000 range. I'll have to post my run later this weekend, I really don't have to brake much at all because this van drives at a slow steady rate. So this is a great car/track combo.

Here was one of my runs for Sardegna, no matter how hard I plan or try it I always tend to lose time at T1, because I'll have to brake early so I don't miss the turn. I did all right at those turns where the black/yellow arrow signs are but still I feel like I'm losing necessary time here, frustrating in a way but what can I really do?

I don't think a wheel would help me in this situation because I am not familiar with the FFB and other features. And the pedals would be a new adjustment for me anyways. Maybe I should try a different car, I don't think the RSR fits for this track. And the sharp left turn and right turn before the finish gets me too, I have to watch my back and not run into the walls.

Hi guys, sticking to A and B races this week.
After yesterday i'm back in the SR S class, so I have cleaned up a lil my "reputation". I'll try to get inside the first 100s in Tokyo (not so easy). Actual time is giving me pole guaranteed in DR B class (by ar 0.8 to 1.4 sec. to 2nd in grid). For Sardegna i'll be happy to be within the first 1000s or maybe 500s.
For B I'll use the M6 GT3 "sprint" (don't mind if it isn't meta), but i'd like to use either the Porsche or the Huracan as a second choise.
More prone to the Porsche, but the Huracan is intriguing.
Question for experienced drivers: Between Porsche GT3 and Lambo GT3 wich is the most all-rounder?

So am I. And here's my stats, 12 of my 19 races at Tokyo this week have been clean meaning I didn't hit the wall or touch any other vans. To answer your question, I'd say the RSR would be the better choice, I have a hard time controlling and getting a grip on the Huracan. It's up to you what you choose to use for the racing and qualifying sessions. I dislike the sharp left turn after passing the finish line. It's too risky going into the sand everytime.

I'm biased towards the Porsche, been driving it too long, so a totally subjective opinion. 😁

Subjective as that is, pretty sure Tidgney puts the 911 towards the top of the list in his car rankings. It's stable, makes good traction out of corners and has solid brakes. It does have understeer issues and makes less torque than a lawnmower at low RPM's. No torque means short-shifting to second out of a turn to minimize wheelspin can cost you BIGLY on exit speeds.

Still, though, the chassis is well balanced and very easy to manage if/when things goes sideways, literally OR figuratively. I'm into the 40's at Sardegna with it, for what it's worth.👍

2nd lap run. You need to come out the last turns good to cross the start already doing around 137kph. Keep it in 4th up to 141kph and change to 5th if approaching downhill at that speed. On any uphills, change down to 4th before you lose speed (so change to 4th at 143kph) and that'll allow you to maintain 140kph+ speed on the uphills or turns. I'm constantly jumping between4th and 5th in that magic 140-143mph zone to maintain speed.

Then NEVER brake. The very last corner I lift momentarily to ensure turn in and pointing to the apex and then gas it out in 4th to avoid the wall. The penultimate corner you do not need to lift. Turn in in 5th but then downshift to 4th under full throttle is enough to make the corner and keep speed up.

Edit: changed from mph to kph. I forgot that in VR the dials are usually in kph...

Edit 2: for starts off the grid do not rev out the engine. It will bog you down. Hold the throttle at low revs (there is no rev dial in the van in VR so I go by sound but I would guess around 2000 rpm) and then as you release your handbrake then floor the throttle. Change up (if I remember correctly) at 40 kph, then 64 kph, then 91 kph.

Edit 3: this one is much more engaging in VR. You can look around the van in the slower parts and marvel at the detail. It's fun. I would imaging this is very dull in bumper cam.

I swear a lot of people are racing Sardegna like they are grinding for a million credits.

Half the field is clean the other half pushing so so hard.

The thing with this race is the main passing places are the narrowest on the track so making a pass stick the conventional way is very very hard.

Tricky race this week in B I thinks

So more on my strange jumping of classes, I was AC and somehow, after jumping out of a race due some persons recklessness 🤣 I went straight to BC - bizarre!

But @mellofello9 im diggin the Porsche I have to say and I’m sticking with it for the weekend, struggling to get under 1.41.4xx with all kinds of late braking, early braking, 1st or 2nd out of corners, short shifting - so from here I’m just enjoying the racing.

I really do love sardegna A such a racers race circuit, it simply has it all

I give up

I hate this Sardegna track. It's all dive bomb braking and people making passes that they could not have made if they didn't slam into your door to make it.

In three days I have gone from A+ S(full) to A A, and getting over that hump from a Full A to A+ again will take a week of successful racing. I might be able to get some of the SR back at Race A, but that's doubtful.

If only there was, you know, a penalty of something for aggressively slamming into people. 🙄

I supposed that a long endurance race should keep dirty drivers away.
I was wrong (very)

On the first clip Im not involved but it was a "remarkable" moment to share because this is something else than blocking or cutting the splistream...

On the second clip Iam involved.
Slow car creeping the climb at eau rouge and I saw a suspicious move from the slow car trying to put a passing car off the track.
Seeing that I decided to take an inside line cutting the track to avoid contact knowing that it would cost me some pen.

After that, the "slow car" tried to pitt everyone ahead and when he manages it and he also loses his car he quits.

What amazes me the most, is that this drivers are very capable drivers.
They have the pace and consistence to achieve A+ and they behave like this with the rest of the field.

Why bother in a 50 min race just to ruin others races and then quit?
Cant understand wheres the joy in that.

FWIW, I'm running +1 on BB and it's been working out. Seems to free-up the fronts enough to turn instead of ploughing straight through apexes.

And am with you 100% on Sardegna. Absolutely love this place. T9 is my favorite hairpin in all of 'GT7-landia', tbh. Rewarding as hell when you get it right, rare as that may be. Also, great spot for an impromptu pass around the outside. Outbrake 'em, park it at their passenger door (or right side, for those across the pond 😁) 'round the bend and steal the inside line through the right-hander. I open the door and invite people up the inside on that one all the time. Just gotta be sure to break overlap before T11. Whether that's you in front or them matters not, survival becomes the bigger issue.🤣

Thanks to successful weeks at Daytona and this week at Spa, I just got both accounts back to a B/S. No wins, just consistently top 5. My goal has been to qualify better because racing in the back of the pack sucks which, I better get used to as a DR-B.
My race position was so bad at Nurburgring last week that I quit as soon as I saw that Spa was next up and just practiced qualifying… with the wrong car of course.

I get a little caught up in ranking and progressing through various levels but, when you consider that DR-A and above comprises the top 5% of all drivers and that DR-B is top 20%, my ranking becomes a little more palatable. (Numbers are my estimates from Dr-edge.com)

…Well, I won’t be here long, qualified low, finished low🤷🏻‍♂️.
The guy who won has 16 races at Spa in the last 2 days, that’s 1,671 laps, at 13 1/2 hours over a two day stretch.

I had a friend who is A like me, we are inconsistent and happy.

So we went to daily A qt2/3 team game.

Essentially I get shown a lot of wall and my wingman waits and we just have some fun at the back....or a 8 car grid.

The van race isn't for me but it's a fun race or a crap one but make friends and it's a happy race when results mean nothing.

Wow, I'm finding the van races quite addicting and amusing, they are heavy cars so you really don't need to brake much at all, there's some room between the walls. I've already done almost 20 races so far and I'm fixing to do a couple more before quitting for today.

I was wondering if anyone had success trying to team-up with someone/anyone for the Spa race? Seems two/three people working together on a race of that length could absolutely dominate those flying solo. I know, I know, good luck finding someone to team-up with and all, but the thought jumped in there. 😁

EDIT
@newmedia_dev that was my favorite discovery about the A races...the lack of give a damn about finishing position completely alters the experience. I know it SHOULDN'T, as that should transfer to DR races as well, but it does. Well, for me anyway.

Haven't tried the van race yet but thanks for the idea/motivation. 👍
