OK, the new qualifier is up and running. I'm going to see how this pans out in regard to everyone being able to view the top lap times. Sorry for all the problems and I hope you like the new qualifier. :nervous:

Well, new qualifier is up, so I guess we can discuss the old one:

I'd managed a 1'19.197, and saw another 2 or 3 tenths in there (yes, with N3's)

I suspect I won't be as competitive with the new format, but I'll give it my best!

The race is listed as Suzuka forward, I'm assuming since there is not a Suzuka reverse you mean the full course not the mini course Suzuka East.

So if I don't do the qualifier race I'll be removed from the registry? Will I have to give up my PSN name even though I had my GTP_ name before the registry began? I don't really race online much anymore because other games take up my time so I don't really need to be apart of it anymore, at least not until the full game comes out.

Looks like its suz. now

This time its S2's NOT N2's like last time for me :dopey:

Gonna try tomorrow :dopey: a wheel disadvantage :ouch:

Sorry if the 'forward' part confused you. I have now removed it and left just Suzuka Circuit.

Yes, you will be removed from the registry. You can do what you like with your PSN ID, it's yours.

What does the "Video Replay" bit mean? I'm slighty confused by it.

In OLR (OnLine Racing), replay files from earlier GT game versions were downloaded from the Playstation to your PC via a replay device, such as a Max Drive, X-Port or an X-Plorer for example. There were those who weren't prepared to spend a small amount of money to buy one in order to have their lap times verified and they also felt that a 'Video Replay' ie; a movie file, would be an adequate and cheap method of verifying their lap times, unfortunately it isn't a adequate means of verification and is therefore outlawed.

I will amend the qualifier to make it clearer. I won't remove it because there will always be someone who will say that they haven't got a memory stick to copy over the replay and no doubt ask if a video replay/movie file would be OK to use.

You and me both :nervous: I didnt do GT Academy and I dont know this track's line very well so I dont see myself doing very well at all. Ah well, I suppose I better get practicing for the next month.

I had a go at GT Academy, but only managed to get to rank 5000 or something like that. Don't get me wrong, I like the track, but the N1 tyre restrictions is like asking an elephant to complete an obstacle course whilst on ice!

I'm sure I'll master it to a fashion, lets hope that the actual division races are a little more forgiving. 👍

This event, just like GT-Academy is a reminder of just how much I suck at GT5P :(

At least in online races against a bunch of monkeys I can delude myself that I'm quite good :grumpy:

I have a question, Just say for example, I end up in division 50, or 15 whatever, And Driver X is in division 1. Does that mean when we get private rooms me and driver X will never get to race? Or am I way off the scent. :dunce:

👍

So could you download a ghost of the track and use it to your advantage? Seems like cheating in a way :indiff:

As it is now, yes you can download a replay to chase. Unfortunately PD has messed up the replays so we just have to live with it, and see how things go.

Remember, in order to chase the top replays, you have to be good enough to keep up, and if you can keep up, then you would mostly be at the top anyway.

HotShot66 is now GTP_Tally_Ho!

I hope I can keep up the standards of GTP online. And especially with the new qualification test.

See you on the track!

Jerry, great work you're doing for GTPlanet!
Almost looks like you're working for Jordan full-time
How on earth can you combine this with RL?
If you need help in this huge project just let me know ok?
When will they make you a hyper-mod?
👍 👍 👍

You picked a great combo for this qualifier. In fact, I always do the F430 at Suzuka when I can't think of something else ... (tho not in PRO mode but with all aids off).
What I don't understand is hiding laptimes from others in Prologue. Aren't the best 100 times recorded and displayed in the game?

I think I've already addressed this question some time ago, but hey:

The original qualifier that I posted yesterday was designed to prevent anyone knowing the lap times of others because N3's were going to be used and therefore no times would've made it onto the Online database. However, PD put a spanner into the works and prevented us from using any tyres other than S2's.

Yes we can see times in the online db, but that doesn't mean we will be having a full discussion about them here or anywhere else, there will also be more members outside of the top 100 than actually in it, and we also have the secret cut off times that determine the divisions. I'm afraid that's all we can do here, so we simply soldier on with what we've got.

Thanks for clearing that up. I think I may have jumped the gun a bit last night and I suppose I will attempt it even though I can almost promise my time will be quite high.

With that said is there a minimum time racers must meet in order to qualify for the registry? I would assume no but we all know what assuming does.

If you want to do a lap time of 2.04'23.666 then that's fine by me. Just don't expect me to verify it ;)

How many divisions are there going to be? Or does that depend on the amount of entries?

Hard to say at the moment. Will have a better idea when the submissions start coming in.

Thanks and sorry for not reading up on every post you write my friend ;)

Why is the initial deadline almost 2 months away (Sept 26th)?
I'm going to go nuts shaving hundredths of a second off my time & get a couple of lucky laps out of hundreds of laps & then probably end up in too high of a division & get my butt kicked!!

Can someone point me to the area in this thread that explains the outcome of the qualifier?

I've had a quick look, but i've only picked up dribs and drabs.
