Has whoever chose the Megane combo ever played GT before?

BM is lovely đź‘Ť

Hehe, this is my favourite of the two. Not enjoying the BM at all, but then I've never liked the race cars in GT.
Having said that, I'm having great fun racing the Red Bull Junior online.

OK guys with out reading through 4 pages of posts what replay do we save for submission the fastest lap replay or just the save replay?

Thanks in advance
Doug

That's been answered a couple of times and is
CSR Elite wheel motors went out just as I was crossing T2 of the BMW trial :ouch: Clunk-clunk-sshhhhhh

Went and bought a G27, drilled some new holes and got everything working. The power cable from the wall to the power brick was faulty (WTF?!) and wouldn't power on. I swapped it with another and all is well. I just got a decent lap in the BMW with my Fanatec equipment, so now I can see how my times will compare. I'm sure gonna miss those pedals!

Jerome

Sorry to hear! You can still use your pedals for PC games though!

I don't really race on my PC, it's too unreliable.

I think I'm going to look into one of those brake mods from GT Eye or AP Electrix. Any suggestions anyone?

Oh and for those of you who are new to the WRS, don't worry about how fast you are now. This is a solid community, just know that the time you put in, you will get out and be faster than you initially thought đź‘Ť

I have the GTEye in my G27... very, very good modification. I think Ramon has another version of the same thing.

Recommended đź‘Ť

Yeah, @Jump_Ace I had the GTEYE before I got my CSP's, awesome mod and highly recommended.

I've researched the mods extensively before buying it and InsideSimRacing (see youtube) made some great reviews on both.

They concluded that the GTEYE was a little less stiff then the Nixim mod and they prefered the GTEYE when racing on your socks, the Nixim requires more force and that you'll probably want to hard mount your pedals with the Nixim. So I got the GTEYE and was very pleased. Felt really good and you van very precisely modulate your braking.

The last time I competed was Week 97 in GT5 before I had to bow out due to time constraints with the birth of my first. I have only a little more time these days but I'm itching to get back into this, I had too much fun last time and have followed along each week for the past year and I've been dying to come back. I hope to get started on the qualifier tonight but both tracks and cars are completely new to me so I will need the full three weeks if I hope to qualify anywhere close to where I was before.

Good luck everyone, I'm thrilled to be back racing with all of you!

Just started with the Megane, holy .... its understeer city !

I had no problem driving that car, it's the BMW that feels more understeery to me

First 100km~ at Brands Hatch = zero clean laps. Oh these 3 weeks are going to be fun :D:tup:

Almost done with the renault! ^^^^ now i feel nervous about brandhatch and the BMW

The problem with the BMW is that it almost kills me every time I put my foot down  Hopefully I'll get used to it soon, probably finished with the Megane now :D

My pedals are hard mounted directly to my seat so that's not a problem. Thanks man.

I'm almost happy with my effort with the Megane and Willow Springs. I just need to remember to finish braking before trying to turn it.

The M3 and Brands, on the other hand, let's just say I'm glad I have some time to try and not get it completely wrong.

Loads of people are going to end up in the wrong divisions because of this Willow nightmare and I'm one of them. Partly because I'm just not interested in driving under these conditions where the feel of the car just has no resemblance to what you could feel on track IRL, and partly because I know my willow lap is so incredibly sub-optimal that (as a consequence) I have little interest in extracting all I can from the BMW; it will do little to salvage the situation and would be extremely time-consuming, let alone futile.

When you expose the shortcomings of a game by putting a car on what are effectively the wrong tyres and induce the "infinite understeer" that this game has been famous for, you are going to get messed up results. It becomes more about gaming the system than about displaying driving skill.

I was Div 1 Silver in GT5, I expect to qualify around Division 3/4 this time.

I'm just going to chuck a couple of times together and submit well below ability because the Willow experience is simply a hurdle to participation in the weekly trials where we can exchange splits and whatnot and where I actually enjoy myself.

Sandbagging is frowned upon. If you can't put your best effort into the qualifier, do it another time when you can.

Be interesting to see who gets what times, as there is no comparing other people or watching the fastest guys lap to improve etc.
Like you could on gt5p in the rx7
Started on megane earlier wasn't that keen but the more I did it and learned the track I was starting to enjoy it :), never tryed the track before, apart from one career race I think, brands is probably my favourite track, or be it Indy version, so will be given that a decent shot

It's not really an excuse if your a div 1 driver you should be able to be within a second of the fastest driver with any track/car/tyre, it may take abit longer to get up to speed sometimes but nonetheless still should be able to be competitive, the qualifier is what it is, there is always going to be someone who doesn't like the combo can't please everyone, even if you do struggle IMO they will still reflect on your previous placings/times and it would just be unfair to put you that far down

This can't be repeated enough. You should find your limit for the qualifier(s) đź‘Ť And remember it's not a race to submit the qualifier first.

This assumes everyone is going to be a petulant infant and throw a tantrum like you are.

Some drivers seem to be enjoying it. Some hate it at first, and then get used to the technique required.

As others have stated, sandbagging is highly frowned upon. You have 3 weeks, give it your best effort.

I think "petulant infant" is a little strong seeing as I've explained why I think it's a strange combination (the CS tyres that cause the most unintuitive handling, on a track that requires handling more than anything). What would happen if I started throwing around those sorts of insults based on one post?

I'm not going to sandbag, I'm going to give it the best effort I can. But when you are red-slipping, or close to it, and increasing wheel-angle continues to provide grip (so you are effectively driving "through" front tyres that are almost perpendicular to the curve).. that's not driving. That's leveraging bizarre physics. My problem is the tyres. They're wrong, simple as that.

Certainly, the less I enjoy something the less I am inclined to continue pursuing it. Being forced to do so is going to feel like work and that's not what I'm here for. In a normal WRS I can just sit out the daft combinations and wait for the next one. Unfortunately that isn't the case here; indeed it's a hurdle to doing something that I enjoy rather than being something that I enjoy.

It's strange, i was worried more about willow than brands, i suck there usually...
I'm doing good there, i'm having more problems with brands instead LOL
I'm constantly improving on willow, i had 3 nice laps on brands and now i can't beat that, i need to work on turn one that's for sure.
I'm the type of driver that needs a time to beat or at least reach to do my best, racing against myself it's nice though.
