I did a new best laptime but with 3 big mistakes, i don't know how it was so fast.
Is there a corner where you actually use the brake? I think it's incredible that you're more than a second faster than my T1, I know I made one mistake but it wasn't that bad :)

Are you by any chance a GT Academy finalist?

T1: 34.785
T2: 33.369

I'm assuming you have submitted your Registry Qualifier and are awaiting results? Are you using Racing Hard tires like the race specifics mention?

Jerome

Gah! T1 is ****** me off now - keep getting low 35.0s but then stuffing T2. Seen 1x 34.992 T1 and blew it at the double left immediately.

35.173
33.837

Gain of 0.07 at the line though. Still looking for a couple of tenths I think - I want a low 35.0 for T1 and maybe another 0.1 off T2 and I'm done. 3rd sector seems ok (I hope).

Here's the setup I've settled on:

Aero
40/63

Transmission
Max 186mph
2nd 2449
3rd 1844
4th 1434
5th 1163
6th 0988

Differential
7/11/6

Suspension
-12/-36
13.3/13.3
7/7
7/7
6/6
2.5/1.0
0.00/0.00

Brakes
4/7

Edit: Is it me or is this a particularly quiet week? I thought this one might have been quite popular...

A few laps....gonna get Bob to do some B-spec break-in miles! :yuck:

What setup you running Jon?

A constantly evolving one at the moment. The gearbox is based on Kev's but with a shorter final drive, and a shorter second and third gear. LSD is 5/12/5 at the moment. Front DF is max and rear DF is 55 or something similar.

I'd have to look at the PS3 later and check the rest of the settings. It's not perfect but it's OK and there's a good 2 tenths in each sector just by driving better.

Another 250km done and steady progress in T2 and T3, but the first sector doesn't want play along! I had one 34.9 but went sideways in the right-left before the tunnel. :)

T1: 35.058
T2: 33.781

Tuning question: It seems all of you run very open diffs, but I run 15/25/15 and if I go any lower it feels like the car loses all it's bite out of the corners. If anything I'm thinking of going up in both initial and accel. I'm running a very long 2nd gear in all the slow parts (shift to 3rd at 140), could that have something to do with it?

Yes i use the brake sometimes :dopey:
No GT academy for me.

Yes you are correct. And i use hard tires of course. First time i compare i think maybe i have wrong tires but i have the right.:)

That could be it mate - too early on the gas out of the tight corners and it gets loose in 2nd. Try short shifting to 3rd when your at the limit of traction...? Nice T2 by the way đź‘Ť

My turn:

35.152 (still very annoying)
33.691 ()

Getting braver on the gas.

Second gear will help as the engine is quite peaky and I suspect too long a gear i.e. 3rd might mean that there is not enough power to scrub the rear tyres, so the result is power on understeer.

It also depends on your suspension settings. I would never be able to get a 15/x/15 work, I'd just be hitting walls all the time. Do you have high rear springs/roll bars to induce oversteer and a high rear BB?

A higher 'initial' value will give the car more understeer whether under power or not.

Alphabet soup tune: CSLs tune with EDKs gears. :D Having a tough time improving anywhere. I saw a .8 in T1 but ran into the sand on the next turn. :banghead: The second tunnel is where I think I'm lodging some T2 time but I can't write figure it out. Plus I am trying to stock with the wheel again this week so the learning curve it's that much harder. I'll get there, it just may take all week. :embarrassed:

Vagabond: 4 thousands! :P

Carlos: Dampers, ARBs and brake balance are default, springs are 14/14 (or whatever the default rear spring was, I just set them equal). Camber 2/1, Toe -0.05/-0.05.

Some food for thought from both your comments, I'll tinker with it some more tomorrow. The way it *feels* to me though is that whenever I lower the LSD values, the car loses power on corner exits. I simply can't keep up with my ghost. Perhaps it's just a difference in driving style but 15/25/20 is my standard LSD starting point for all race cars and I've never felt like it causes understeer... If anything it makes the car feel more stable and lets me be more aggressive coming out of slow corners. :)

Yanaran, it feels like it's losing power on corner exits when you lower the accel value because the inside wheel is spinning up. One set-up isn't going to suit all people as everyone has different styles. I doubt I'd be able to keep Wes' set-up on the tarmac, and I wouldn't be able to get yours around a corner. But then you are both D1 and I'm...well....not

My set-up after 170km with 565bhp.

Carlos v1.0
Downforce 40/50

Gears
3.675
2.375
1.775
1.410
1.176
1.007
Final 3.395 showing 313kmh in the top box

Diff is 5/12/5

Suspension
-17/-30
14/14.5
7/7
5/6
5/6
Camber 2.0/1.3
toe -0.05/-0.04

BB 5/6

Will try and refine tonight. Looking to try and take the rear springs down from 14 so that I can up the accel diff a little.

My first WRS entry!

T1; 36.592
T2; 35.501

I'll have to try a few different tuning settings when I get the chance!

:scared:
I'm away for 1 day and look what happens!

Nice to see an aliens tune, thanks Wes. đź‘Ť
Don't know if I'll be able to drive it, but I'll have to try it.

Hopefully I'll get some time to try to catch up to Chris and Yanaran, looks like I need sector 2 practice.

(I never say this) Am I the only one that thinks T3 actually won't be a big deal this week?

Welcome unkymo! I've seen you around somewhere - maybe an online race or something.

* * *

I think sector-1 is all about turn-4 (fast right-hander). Really difficult to get the most out of it. Get the apex too early and it's lap-over.

Had a quick few laps with Carlos's set up and a huge improvement through T1 but lost a bit through T2.

T1; 35.941
T2; 35.698

Yeah looks like its going to be a close one mate đź‘Ť I'll just tip it my way though if you don't mind.. :sly:

35.073
33.758

Looking for 0.1 in T2 and another 0.2 on the lap. Pretty happy so far though.

Am I the only one that thinks T3 actually won't be a big deal this week?
T3 here is quite technical with two very important traction zones - a small deviation in either can cost tenths easily. So still a crucial sector I reckon.

Ah yes, someone mentioned to me recently that max springs (front at least) was fastest with this car.

Except the suspension settings are back to front, so Wes actually has the rear set rock solid. Like he said, he doesn't like understeer

Had a quick few laps with Carlos's set up and a huge improvement through T1 but lost a bit through T2.

:)

Been struggling to find a set up on this one..

34.835
33.571

Definitely need to clear up sectors 2 and 3

Had a few more laps with the RVR tune.
Only a slight improvement in the splits, nothing worth posting at this stage.
Keen to try Carlos's set up to see if there is a difference in the way the rear reacts.
Only thing for me now is trying to tidy up my line through the second sector.
Slow and smooth seems to be the best way for me at the moment, I'm hoping the times will drop as the week progresses.
Cheers All !!!
