This looks like a lot of fun, I'd like to try my hand against some of the best GTP has to offer. Could you sign me up for tourney #2?

Another idea with the team thing why dont both teams drift together friendly then ask both teams to select their best driver to battle that way the segment wont go for to long and 1 battle instead of 6 or so to long for a short segment.

^^^DrifTa-AJV you are brilliant, This is a really cool idea and it would get some sweet train drifts in the show as well. Thanks for your support, chris. I am really high on this idea and i think an SS vs ACN battle for the inaugural episode would be pretty awesome. (especially with all the ACN members in the quarter finals)

Jimmy, that was some wonderful practice mate. That was what i'm talking about. 2 more sessions like that and our "battle" will be magic!

Good stuff! Respect to D-Trick. :)
Tonight?

:P

Something for Seigo:
That is the most single minded thing i have heard lol, every professional competition in the world goes by those means, if you get left behind or overtaken then tough luck, it's not a race and it's not wait for me at the next turn i messed up.

It's dog eat dog.

If you have a problem with that you have a problem with 99.9999% of any drift competition that has ever existed in the real world.

Not being mean, but come on now this is common sense stuff.
jesus..
2 mins 30 in, check it ;)

As good an idea as the whole seperate run thing is i cant say i particularly like the idea! I think it should be a first come first serve thing to applicants? i'd rather battle it out and have my fate in the hands of the judge instead of my fate in the hands of other drift teams all voting for each other...

Taking into account the amount of applicants from a paricular timezone you could open a lounge and have say 3/4 battles per session which gets things done ALOT quicker. Just not hugely keen on the whole single run.

^^^I thought we were done with this argument. Jimmy, you may have a point. As of now all 32 slots are full (assuming everyone from tournament 1 stays on for tournament 2. If a ridiculous amount of people (like 20) all try signing up for tournament 2 I would try to accomodate them all. Even if it's not a public vote I would prefer everyone got a chance (excluding 5 people isn't too bad tho)

Ok sorry... lol was just a little wink in you general direction, humorous meant.
Sorry if it was seen otherwise.

Don't attack me by saying i'm impossible though, because i'm just not to found of high yellers, that's all.

Some fun stuff btw just now. Sorry that i'm so slow, probably the car... :P
Although my GTP tag has something inthere pointing at that problem... :)

greets

Don't forget that the judges do belong to teams already and I really don't agree with the post and vote thing either sounds like a bit to much work I was talking about a three judge panel it was just an idea I had trying to save the organizers some time plus qualifying would assure that th best of the best battle and that is what I wanna see top quality battles not the best drifters having to stop because someone spun out and it's also a bit much to ask the judges to sit through 16 battles 8 battles is much more managble and a 16 round comp would drag on forever just think about it realistically. If your worried you won't make the cut why don't you try practicing a bit harder I don't think judges would care who belongs to what team I think they would rather judge spectacular drifting.

That is true and having three qualifying times (to suit the three major time zones) would be very manageable.

Ok fair enough that's a good argument!. I'm not worried 1 bit about not getting the cut because of my skill I just feel there may be a slight bit of favouritism when it comes to sepereate runs (not slagging any judges at all). obviously you would want you're own team through as much as possible!

An idea i do have if the seperate runs were to go ahed is... a judge from each of the main participating teams? would even it up and each judge allocated particular Drivers (Excluding there own team) would make it fair i reckon?

Sorry Jimmy my comment about prac was a bit harsh

At the end of the day it's up to the organizers and judges I feel that as tournament 1 finishes tournament 2 needs to advance I can understand drifters like seigo and hks wanting this comp to be more like real world rules this is what all true drift fans want and to be honest if we can't make it like this then all the top gtp drifters will lose interest and then all haydens hard work will be waisted
There's always gonna be new competitors but if we can showcase what drifting is really about and the best drivers this will create more interest and give all the new drifters something to work for to beat the beast gtp has to offer. Large tournaments just won't work my opinion only.

FM3 Drift car! Possible decals right there ^^.

i suck at
(a) Vinyl editing
(b) Photography
(c) XBOX

so it kinda sucks on a whole but is still pretty cool IMO

Why? I judges ACN vs Nemesis the other week and it took just over 3 hours to complete two full comps on 2 different tracks, and that was with NUMEROUS disconnection issues. Well run, it could take a lot less. In JDM AllStars, we budget an hour and a half for top-32 (16 battles) and then an hour an a half for the top-16 (15 battles), but that allows for crashes/offs/5 minute rules etc. I reckon 'in game' we could get each down to an hour.

Wouldn't really work, there is still the potential for people to score down members of the other team to try and give their guys an advantage, the only 100% guaranteed way to do it without favouritism is to have three independant judges, none of whom are on a drift team.

can I join #2 even if i had been listed for #1?
i would really like to join a competition again because i couldn't compete last sunday

Guys who competed in tournament 1 are automatically down for tournament 2 unless they request otherwise

You should keep the winners from tourney 1 out of tourney 2... Make tournament 2 only available to people who were NOT in tourney 1.

Seeing as how much of a response you have been getting from the community. It would be better to have the top 3 people from tournament 1 battle the top 3 people from tournament 2 in some kind of championship or something. Then rinse and repeat.

This is just a quick thought that I put out there - obviously you will want to add your own spin to it. But think about this - eventually it will be just the same people in the tourney's over and over and then the tourney will die. By keeping fresh faces cycling through - it will help keep the tourney fresh...

Nah, it's better to let them stay in, that way you will have people entering to try to beat them, and trying to raise their game as a result. Overall standards only improve when the up-and-coming drivers are allowed to battle the best of the best ;)

Still looking for segment ideas? The last section of Fuji is amazing backwards, but that may be common knowledge :P

Indeed it is, and it requires MASSIVE amounts of control to get line/speed and angle right. Needs a fair bit of power to link the whole section up though. :)
