I still think the 08 Subaru is too fast even with it high tyre wear, which can be evened out just easy. Even when the tyres are screaming it still seems easy and quite fast to drive...
I was just telling cicua in a PM.
We can cap the Subaru, since most people are finding it so fast, but neither Aderrrm nor myself found it any faster then other cars.
It also definitely will need extra stops in the season, so even if it were half a second a lap quicker, every race it needs an extra stop it'd still be slower for the race.

I tried capping it at 337HP @ 545PP last night @ Indy, but then it ran almost a second slower then most of the others.

Last season during races, the Subaru 08 didnt need to take any extra pitstops. It had an advantage in qualifying though.

Would disagree with that - as an Impreza 08 driver last season, the tyre wear was very bad in comparison to other cars. Adam would be able to testify to that, as we were always battling together until my tyres would fall apart and his would not.

While the car doesn't need to make an additional pit stop, it's tyres don't last for anything like the length of others. At some circuits you can get away with a 2-stop strategy for example, like many others will do - but a 1-stop is completely out of the question. The Impreza basically has to run on totally shot tyres for more laps than any of the other cars, if you are to do the same strategy as everyone else.

If you pit when others 'normally' would in terms of the actual level of tyre wear, you'd end up having to do 3 stops at every race, but that wouldn't be competitive. So you have to do 2 stops and grin and bear it with extremely poor tyres for the last part of each stint.

I'm not an Impreza driver this season but can tell you that it definitely needs to be factored into the car's specification. It's no good having the Impreza being equal on pace over a single lap if it can't compete over a race distance.

I rekon its to do with maybe its easier to get close the what the faster guys/aliens can do with all the other cars but for us mortals its quite clearly faster.

Thats my thoughts.

Its over .5 faster than anything else ive tested at Laguna, Suzuka and Gp/F but Spa im only a couple tenths off in other cars iirc.

Also im sad we just lost our Pal Gt300 number 1 qualifier :(.

Last season though it was carrying ballast as standard. This season it is standard weight. I wonder how much that had to do with tyre wear?

It was standard weight until Mole, Atlas and Skanny incurred weight but yeah ballast killled the tyres especially when Mole and Aderrrm were hauling around 160Kgs+! :scared:.

.:Wanted:.

Since CSLACR has switched to the NTSC GT300 Class, we now have only one Steward / Capable Host for the NTSC GT500 Class (L_Hamilton). It would be nice to have a minimum of 2 Steward / Capable Host per class

So, who can do the Steward job? The Host job? The both?

PM me to let me know if you want to have this responsibility.

Thanks

.: Drivers Briefing (Read! Read! Read!) :.
Welcome to WSGTC newbies! I'll keep this brief and in simple English. Race clean, disciplined, and respectful around your fellow competitors! Fast but incompetent drivers need not apply - rather have slow and clean! Read the Racing Code 685 times (Click Here!).

You must follow the Car Specs and Regulations pictured below (TBA)! Not following specs will result in an immediate Disqualification.

While inside the race lobby, do not use the 'CHAT' feature while Stewards are sending out instructions for pre-race checks. If you have questions, go ask them NOW! Otherwise, read the OP. We will be using a special pre-race qualifying that is listed below - Read it! Thank you for your patience!

Car Specs and Regulations (All cars at Max Downforce for GT300!)
GT500 Regs - Open PP tuning.
All cars must be fully broken in, same as they would with set specs.
Modifications are unlimited.

YMS Yellowhat Supra - 596PP
Xanavi, Calsonic, Yellowhat GTR - 596PP
Motul Autech GTR - 597PP
Takata, Arta, Raybrig, Stealth NSX - 597PP
Denso, Petronas SC430 - 598PP
Bandai Direzza SC430 - 600PP
Eneos SC430 - 601PP
Tom's Castrol Supra - 603PP
Nissan Xanavi Nismo Z - 607PP

Pre-Race Qualifying
  • Since we're not doing the weekly qualifying, we'll do a pre-race one instead.
  • After pre-race PP Checks are done, the track will be reset.
  • The field will be given 15 minutes to do their Qualifying in Free-Run
  • If you are satisfied with a lap, DRIVE back to the pits. DO NOT press PAUSE and then EXIT!
  • Again, drive back to the pits! Do not press pause and exit!
  • Stay in the Pits and wait for the start of the race.
  • Once everyone has been confirmed to be inside the pits, the host will start the race.
  • Once the countdown hits ZERO, DO NOT MOVE!
  • The field will roll slowly and maintain 50mph/80kph
  • Maintain your grid spots while holding a double-file grid (8 rows, 2 columns)
  • Follow the Rolling Start Procedure Inside the OP!
  • Goodluck and Have Fun!

Mixed Class - Formation lap procedure

  • GT300's will sort their grid positions first. While GT300's sort their grid, GT500's DO NOT MOVE. GT300 cars move from the grid ONE by ONE in qualifying order.
  • The Pole car drives up and parks about 100 m (300 ft) ahead. (WHILE DOING SO, THE OTHER CARS DO NOT MOVE ONE INCH). As he pases the start line, the
  • next driver can move up, and so on. Once all cars are in the correct position and are NOT moving, the pole car may start the first of two formation laps. When
  • the first lap is completed, be sure to pass the parked GT500 pack with caution. As soon as the GT300 pack have passed the GT500 pack (It's not always that GT300's need to pass the GT500's to lead the formation lap, details will be provided by the host before race start), the GT500's may pull
  • away from the start line ONE by ONE in starting order. From here on, GT300's lead the formation lap, with GT500's about 45-60 seconds behind.
  • We use this procedure to try and ensure that all cars got a decent chance of completing the race before the timer (max 180 sec) runs out. By doing this, we
  • also get finishing times for (hopefully) all cars making any penalties incurred easier to apply.
  • With this in mind, follow the steps below:
  • First, you must remember your Grid Spot (Super Lap Qualifying).
  • Hold your positions when countdown reaches zero.
  • Cars will make their way ONE BY ONE to the front and roll as a separate pack.
  • Cars must roll at a maintained pace of 55 mph / 90 kmh.
  • Field will roll double file (Single file for the Nurburgring 24h race).
  • Odd numbers will start on the inside lane relative to turn 1.
  • Even numbers will stay on the outside lane (Opposite side).
  • The Pole sitter will decide the point at which the race starts as he approaches the start-finish line.
  • You must maintain a minimum of One car length between you and the car in front (same lane).
  • One car length is the minimum, meaning it's up to you how large the gap is.
  • You must always maintain FULL visual contact with the ahead of you (opposite lane).
  • You're front bumper must not overlap the rear bumper of the car ahead of you (oposite lane), doing so can be viewed as a false start and a penalty can be applied as a result.
  • You must wait for the car ahead of you (opposite lane) to accelerate before you do!
  • No passing before the start finish line! Penalties will be strictly enforced for false starts, illegal passing, and overall aggressive driving!
  • * In case of a disconnect during the formation lap; cars behind must maintain position and can NOT move up the grid. Doing so can result in a penalty for breach of "jump start".

________________________________________________________________________________

.:Attention:.

As you can see, there are a lot of available spots in each room. But actually, because of a GT5 bug, we can do a nice race with only 12 drivers per room. It means that we stop the sign up when there will be 6 GT500 and 6 GT300 per room.

If need, we can do 2 rooms per conference = 48 spots. :)

Thank you

PS: One more time, sorry for my wrong English. But the goal is that you understand me. ;)

I agree it is easiest to drive, and looks like we'l be trying 335HP for Indy race tomorrow/Saturday.

But tire wear will affect "non-aliens" more then aliens.
For what it's worth, I ran identical times with 4 of these at Laguna, and a bit slower for the MR's.

Would disagree with that - as an Impreza 08 driver last season, the tyre wear was very bad in comparison to other cars. Adam would be able to testify to that, as we were always battling together until my tyres would fall apart and his would not.

This.
Plus I honestly don't think it even has a single lap advantage at most track though, probably on very tight tracks, but other then that, I think with some tlc and tuning, any other car in the field can keep up with it at 345HP.

Why you guys run 12 people in Pre-Season Race 3
Current issues. :sigh: :(

Hi there.

Well, I want to speak about the Sub '08.

I just watched the replay of my 1st race in WSGTC. I was in Garaiya '08 and Mole was in Sub '08. I confess that he used his tyres faster than other guys. But imo, it's not because of the car, but because of the drivers. Indeed, Shrugging_Atlas was in this race with the Sub'08 also, but his tyres wear was very good...

And for this 3rd season, I done the 1st preseason race in both conferences. PAL in Garaiya '08 and NTSC with Sub '08. I just bought my Sub before the race and I have forgotten to change oil... I didn't have the time to do a decent setup. So, when I'm in this situation, I trust to the stock setup. So, as you can understand, my car was totally stock (I had only set the DF to maximum).
So here is the race and I had a very good pace. If I remember, I take the lead for 75% of the race and my tyres wear very nice (like Shrugging_Atlas). I had no training wis this car before the race.

So, as Dom says, this car looks too fast for me, even with the stock settings. and the tyres wear is not a problem in comparison with the other cars.

thoughts?

I won the second preseasonal in the Subaru '08 with same pit stops as the others, and tyre wear was not too bad.

There are 3 keys to managing it:

1) Brake balance 0/10.
2) Avoid engine braking at all costs. It puts brake load on the fronts, and induces understeer which cooks the fronts even more.
3) Use a lower torque split, 20 or 25 on the fronts. Less saves the tyres even more but 4wd advantage goes away.

The ability to change torque split is really an advantage over the other cars. It is like a boost you can turn on and off as needed, trading for some tyre wear.

In my runs the tyre wear wasnt much worse than the others (Im generaly quite good with tyres) This seasons spec is also less powerful so tyre wear should be better this season than S2.

garaiya's 335hp
lexus 355hp
subaru 08 335hp
subaru 03 335hp
rx7's 325hp
celica 315hp
mr_s 315hp
Will have exact numbers later for PP, power limiter %, etc.

This is for the pre-season race at Indy, testing the Subaru at 335HP. Not sure what we'll get out of a race for data, but it can't hurt to try.

I think maybe taking 9-10bhp away from the 08 is a bit much id go for maybe 5bhp less..

I think maybe taking 9-10bhp away from the 08 is a bit much id go for maybe 5bhp less..
It's the easiest car to drive, and it's claimed the fastest, some also say it has no worse tire wear.
If all these are true, it definitely needs a handicap, 10HP should be no problem.

Which one, the subaru? Yeah, if so, that thing is amazing I have ran that thing quite a bit....

Quick Question: i know there is a GT5 Online Bug but can i be allowed to race tomorrow for once?

Any chance your PS3 is on?I need a set of eyes to check out something.

I will open a lobby room in free run Grand Valley East
I can hop in, in a second.

One thing I did take notice to, is that is seems the '08 Subaru is clearly not an absolute favorite, because as of now, we don't even have one in NSTC, and there's still an open one in PAL.
That's like 2 out of 40 drivers so far choosing or ending up with this car. Shame, cause it's so gorgeous.

if thats the case, leave it at the higher bhp level??
if it was as quick as everyone says, then surely everyone would of picked it

I love the look of the 08 Subaru but I just find it a tad be boring to race with. If it was rear wheel drive then sure I would of picked it that's why I gone for the older model hehe

Regarding the GT5 bug, it might be fixed with 2.03. I doubt it though, PD seems to be crap when it comes to bug fixing nowadays. They even managed to bug the Chase cam
