Anyone here been able to get any bug testing? I'll add the Lounge accounts tonight after I buy the DLC and maybe get some practice! :D Anyone free to join!

Anyone still in the room? I'm going to practice for a bit.

Ridehight.
This is a very powerful tune and will be different from track to track.
If you find that the car understeer in the corners, lower the rear ridehight.
If you find that the car oversteer in the corners, lower the front.
When you got it right for a track, you will notice a a difference by just changing one click. There is no big difference between an overall very low or high car, so just center it around 0. Its the delta front/back that matters.

Very informative post you got there Sail IC, thank you. I'm confused though with the above statement. Pls correct me if I'm wrong, but the way I understand it, if you have less grip in front you tend to understeer-- this occurs when the front ride height is higher than the rear wheel since the grip (center of gravity) shifts to the back. So to correct this, we lower the front RH (in relation to the rear RH) to increase the front grip, thus correcting the understeer. Lowering the rear (or increasing the front RH) to correct understeer contradicts my present understanding. Can you clarify on this one please. Thanks again. :)

Not sure how it'd work in real life, but certainly in GT5, increasing ride height on the front in relation to the rear, results in improved steering ability and therefore reduces understeer. In contrast, I often use quite a low ride height on the rear of the car to introduce 'looseness' to the car which is a personal preference of mine. Imo ride height should always be the first thing to change if there are balance issues with the car and certainly makes the biggest differences in my experience.

However you might find that a lower rear ride height in comparison to front means the car turns better, using the rear to get the nose pointing in the right direction can often be faster than having a front end which sticks. Trial and error, and personal preference :)

Thanks for your thoughts Andil. I'm confused now but I'm trying to digest and analyze what you said. I'm sure there's somebody here who've come across a tuning guide manual (Part 1 & 2) presented by Scaff (tuning forum). His explanation on matters of ride height is quite the opposite to what you and Sail are talking about. I guess i'll have to experiment with this ride height myself. :)

Scaff's tuning guide is for GT4 if I'm not mistaken.

In real life, generally speaking, you would encounter the opposite, yes. Lowering the center of gravity would add grip to whichever end you lower, but in GT5, it's the opposite.
But then the additional thing I've found is that a high ride height all the way around gives the most grip. I actually try not to lower the rear to much, because I'll have less traction out of tighter corners.

For example, on the SC430, +13/+8 is the ride height I run most races. I recommend anyone try driving a car, first at minimum ride height, and then maximum ride height to feel the difference, it's quite surprising.👍

Let me give you another advice. Don't analyze it. As CSL said, in real life it probably works the oposite and I don't think it has such a big impact on the cars handling as it has in the GT5 game. GT5 is a simulator and this is an aerea where it problably is very wrong.

Trying to analyze it will just confuse you more. In the tuning forum I have seen many trying to come up with theories why it should work the way it does in GT5, but its a waist of time IHMO.

I like one thing Andil added. Its the first thing he does when tuning a car. Using the delta in ridhight front/back to dial in the balance of the car. That's what I tried to encurrage in my "basic tuning guide". Focus and make sure you get the most important tuning parameters right, and don't worry to much about the other things as they have very little effect on the cars handling. I like to think about them as the "Power Tunes".

.:Nürburgring GP/F Specifics:.

Qualification rules for Nurburgring GP/F will be usual. You have 2 laps to submit your Superlap.

nurb.jpg

  • IMPORTANT NOTE:
There are three problem spots, turns 1, 2, the T5 kink, and obviously the T14/15 chicane.

Do not go past the white line/run-off area on turn 1 exit.

Do not go wide right on turn 2, you must stay within the rumble strips and you can only have two tires max on the run off tarmac at any time.

Do not go past the white line/run-off area on the exit of turn 4 going through the T5 kink.

Always maintain at least two tires on the rumble strips going through the chicane. Two wheels on the grass is ok, never more.

[*]Green Flag: Polecar will decide where the start is (somewhere before the startline). He must make sure that ALL cars are clear of the last turn before starting.
It's totally up to the pole car, as long as ALL cars behind him are on the straight. He can not start the race if the last car is still in the middle of the last turn. Pole car has right side of track for first right turn.

[*]Make sure to stay on track at ALL times with at least 2 wheels touching white line / Red / White curb. You can not use run offs or tarmac of any kind to gain speed. You will be penalized heavily during the race and disqualified for having a dirty lap in qualifying.
Just stay inside the rumble strips and course white lines.

    [*]Special Mixed Class Starting Procedure:
GT300's will do one lap then line up behind GT500s and wait to roll out.

[*]If you feel insecure of where the track limit is, just join a quali-session during mon-wednesday and ask a steward to do a slow lap with you.

    [*]Pit lane.
Entry: Go slowly into the pits as it's a quick right hair pin and the first part of the hair pin is all you.

Exit: Nothing special about the exit. Just make sure to stay right when you enter the track until you are 100% sure that you will not cause an accident.
General: When entering and exiting pits, the white lines are ment to be respected. Yes, you can cross the white line when entering and exiting the pits. But if an incident occur, the driver who crossed the white line (The one on track, or the one who comes out from the pits) will be held responsible, and a penalty will come as a result.

@CSLACR - Yes, Scaff's tuning guide is for GT4, so i guess it's not applicable here. Thanks for clarifying.

@Sail IC - Most of the things I do (in my line of work) I tend to think and analyze the purpose of doing them, or else somebody's life will be in jeopardy. :D But of course there are other things that we do instinctively like eating, driving a car to work, etc.

When it comes to GT5 racing, I try as much as possible to figure out the behavior of my car so I can improve or have consistent lap time. But I guess this is one aspect that I don't really have to put too much pressure on myself by trying to analyze this ride RH issues. Just follow where the crowd go--- and knowing what you and the rest of the guys think is convincing enough for me. Thanks. 👍

can everyone please add all 4 of the new psn accounts.
as things stand we have 36 drivers who have added all 4 accounts. there are a further 9 who have added some of them.
the 45 are made up as follows;
PAL GT500 - 11
PAL GT300 - 13
NTSC GT500 - 12
NTSC GT300 - 9

can everyone check they have all 4 accounts added

Btw guys, we need to try and make things more smooth. It took so long to get racing last week, I have things to do on Friday so I generally hope we can start and finish on time!

To all NTSC GT300 drivers.
I am asking about the possibility of bringing Saturdays race forward by 2 hours.
If anyone wouldn't be able to make it or it would cause an inconvenience to you, please do say.
Obviously if only 1 person has a problem with it being moved forward then it would stay as it is now.
Many thanks
Please post a reply whether it would be ok or not.

Sounds good to me.

As discussed folks about the online play, we had our Exotic Car series race that I am part of last night with 15 people in the room. It was plagued with some lag and no one could get near their qualifying lap times (I was 3-5 seconds slower on avg.).

Also, some people were complaining about how slippery their cars were. My Lambo cornered on rails during qualifying until the race started. I gave up on lap 26 of 30. We may have issues if we have more than 12 in a race as per the recommendation.. Just letting you folks know.

Thanks for that graz, we are aware of this and we are hoping this maintenance period fixes it to some extent atleast.

Oh great :grumpy: So the bug hasn't been fixed. I doubt this PSN maintenance will fix anything as I think this has to do with GT5 servers and not PSN.

I bloody hope it will be fixed :):) get back to my racing series

What is the original deadline? I would have qualified today, under normal circumstances, will probably do so tomorrow morning, if the deadline is 18:00 GMT.

Could anyone point me to a decent Lexus IS350 tune, by the way? Thanks!

Ask CSL Gv hes in NTSC so im sure he wouldnt mind sharing with ya :).

Quicky question to Garaiya (preferably 08) drivers from previous seasons: The Garaiya seems slow at Nurburgring GP/F, did you find the same in previous seasons? Is it better at other circuits? Just asking because it feels like the car is better than this - I've got the car to handle "ok", but it feels like it really hates the bigger kerbs and the undulating surface which is somewhat unique to this circuit. Most other circuits are quite smooth/flat, with smaller kerbs and are generally much more open, so I've got hope it'll be better.

I can currently do consistent-ish 2:03.3-5s in the Garaiya, but I can actually manage to lap in consistent mid-2:02s with the 08 Impreza (my baby from S2), and high-2:02s in the 06 RX7 (my baby from S1). And tyre wear is actually the same for the three cars, I think I just wear tyres out very quickly either due to using a DS3 or my driving style (I prefer a loose car, the tyres don't). So it feels extremely disheartening to be nearly a whole second slower in a different car - just hoping this is a "bogey" circuit for the Garaiya, if not, then... :scared:
