.:Nürburgring GP/F Specifics:.

Qualification rules for Nurburgring GP/F will be usual. You have 2 laps to submit your Superlap.

nurburgring.jpg

  • IMPORTANT NOTE:
There are three problem spots, turns 1, 2, the T5 kink, and obviously the T14/15 chicane.

Do not go past the white line/run-off area on turn 1 exit.

Do not go wide right on turn 2, you must stay within the rumble strips and you can only have two tires max on the run off tarmac at any time.

Do not go past the white line/run-off area on the exit of turn 4 going through the T5 kink.

Always maintain at least two tires on the rumble strips going through the chicane. Two wheels on the grass is ok, never more.

[*]Green Flag: Polecar will decide where the start is (somewhere before the startline). He must make sure that ALL cars are clear of the last turn before starting.
It's totally up to the pole car, as long as ALL cars behind him are on the straight. He can not start the race if the last car is still in the middle of the last turn. Pole car has right side of track for first right turn.

[*]Make sure to stay on track at ALL times with at least 2 wheels touching white line / Red / White curb. You can not use run offs or tarmac of any kind to gain speed. You will be penalized heavily during the race and disqualified for having a dirty lap in qualifying.
Just stay inside the rumble strips and course white lines.

    [*]Special Mixed Class Starting Procedure:
GT300's will do one lap then line up behind GT500s and wait to roll out.

[*]If you feel insecure of where the track limit is, just join a quali-session during mon-wednesday and ask a steward to do a slow lap with you.

    [*]Pit lane.
Entry: Go slowly into the pits as it's a quick right hair pin and the first part of the hair pin is all you.

Exit: Nothing special about the exit. Just make sure to stay right when you enter the track until you are 100% sure that you will not cause an accident.
General: When entering and exiting pits, the white lines are ment to be respected. Yes, you can cross the white line when entering and exiting the pits. But if an incident occur, the driver who crossed the white line (The one on track, or the one who comes out from the pits) will be held responsible, and a penalty will come as a result.

Theres nothing in that post about how the second race will be run. Is it a reverse gird for the sprint race based on the feature race?

Also is the qualifying that we are doing this week for drivers to be eligible to take part in the race and also their grid positions? Or will the drivers who make the cut have to do a qualifying run on the day of the race?

i will answer this if i may.
the sprint race will be run with a reverse grid , based on the results from the feature race.
the qualifyer being run this week is for grid position.

Thanks Twisted.

Just looking at the Qualifying spread sheet and noticed no one has qualified yet, Hmmm....

i think people are looking for a target. the question is who will be brave enough to set the target?
a little more worrying is that a lot of people still need to add the new accounts,
without adding them they wont be able to qualify or race.

I know CSL did his Quali run this morning (GMT), and his times were good.

Whats this Photo thing we have to do?

Also has anyone noticed anything new on the 2.03 update regarding the online bug?

I did a 1:58:1xx but i reckon i could shave maybeee another .5 from that

Damn the benchmark has been set would be nice to know the time he set tho Lol. I might do my laps tonight got down to the 2:03s last night. But saw johnkiller get in the low 02s which is worrying Lol

Sorry for any confusion. This is what i am talking about.
Can you guys confirm example 1 or example 2, Please?

EX. 2 Turn 14 - 15 observing the rumble strip

Yes, both examples are clean. To give you some perspective, if the right rear wheel in the first picture of Ex. 2 was on the green zigzagged rumble that you can see just behind the car, then it would dirty. As long as two wheels maintain contact with the tarmac and the kerb/red and white rumble strips, and there are no more than two wheels off those surfaces, then it is clean. On some tracks there are gray areas and special exceptions but we will go over that bridge when we reach it.

Don't worry about this. It seems to be a common circumstance that most competitors qualify on the last day or the day before. It was like this last season, and has also happened in other series' I've raced in. People just don't seem to like making the first move :D

Do you know what time he got?

Not quite sure, but i think it was around 2:02/2:03. You'd be best asking CSL himself, as I wasn't watching his run particularly closely.

Setting a fast time in practice going flat out is one thing and setting a qualtime is another. I'll be very happy if I can get a 2:02:high in the qual.

I don't think I'm very good in putting in a top qual time or superb pace in the race as I focus much more on not doing any overambitious mistakes.

Maybe some of you are a little lost in how to set up your car in general or for each race. I have spent quite a lot of time on it, but I'm most often coming back to just use what I write below. It follows the KISS princimple (Keep It Simple Stupid), which actually works for many things in life.

Basic guide in how to set up your car almost perfect

There are only a few things in the tune to focus on. Its better to get them right for you and your driving style than to fiddle around with all the other far less important tuning items

There are three very important tuning items.

LSD:
Stock is 10/40/20. The middle is the one to focus on. If you are having a problem with the rear sliding out when applying throttle at the corner exit ... Reduce it.
If its very low you will lose some acceleration traction, but I wouldn't worry too much about it. Better a bit too low than too high and you will not spin in the race.

Ridehight.
This is a very powerful tune and will be different from track to track.
If you find that the car understeer in the corners, lower the rear ridehight.
If you find that the car oversteer in the corners, lower the front.
When you got it right for a track, you will notice a a difference by just changing one click. There is no big difference between an overall very low or high car, so just center it around 0. Its the delta front/back that matters.

Rear toe.
Start with following front/rear toe, 0.00/0.00.
If you want a tighter line on the corner exit, put in a little negative rear toe. If you have a problem with the rear sliding out at exit, put in a little positive rear toe.

Incease camber to 1.5/1.0 and leave it there.

When you really get going, you will run with different setups for above on every track and they might even be very different for the same car. That's where you find the big time inprovements.

Don't waist any time on the other stuff but focus on above and you will be able to set up your car great for every track. Its much better the get the important things right than to mess with the unimportant things. If you have a setting for the springs, dampers, ARB that you for some reason like, just continue to use them. Changing them will have very little impact anyway.

For the "advanced tuning guide", it probably better to have the real experts like CSL to write it.

er rest everything e.g. Ps3 router etc

if it doesn't work then you might have to uninstall the update and try again, not sure how to do that tho lol

Really doubt it is a problem with the update, more an internet issue if you can't connect to the server. Just reset everything like Pag said, if that doesn't work just try again later.
