It was dry. You see that little meter? It was at 0%
The room was set to 0 for the setting that supposed to guarantee a dry track start. Raining at green flag doesn't mean wet track at start I guess.
Weather change was 5 or 50%
So yea Masi and us stewards should of been on testing these features to tell us what to use.
Either this crap gets tightened up and Masi focus on WSGTC or I am considering dropping out. This place is slipping and it's due solely to those running things not being actively involved.
Sorry I feel this way. But it's felt like we have lost our leader.
One suggestion make Denilson in charge of WSGTC and make it his baby. This guy is dedicated and really pulled together the WSGTC last season and this. However about mid season it was going strong. Then we started getting less involved. Then lost Wardez. Hmmm why was that? He jumped off a sinking ship IMO.
There is hope. this is a very solid series that would come back inline with proper activity by those in Charge. That means you gotta focus on WSGTC and nothing else admins.
First of all, i came back to WSGTC around week 2-3 as i finally had free time. I saw that participation, specially in qualy, was halfway decent. So i went ahead and put out the graphics and tables for the OP along with sending out more than 100+ invites inside the forum (mainly premium members). Then we saw the full grids the following weeks.
In week 3 and 4, i raced. In la Sarthe, my bathroom caught fire around lap 2 - with my close friend receiving 3rd degree burns. No need to elaborate why i quit. At Nurburgring GP, the disconnect bug hit me halfway through the race.
Week 5 came along and i was given my schedule for the semester, which to my surprise, includes a friday session which lasts 9 hours - 7.00am to 4.30pm for just one class (runs until December). It requires familiarizing myself with at least 150 medical terms every week - certainly, i wouldn't put racing at noon in favor of my life's career.
Remember the 'News Articles'? I stopped doing it simply because i was too busy trying to understand these complicated words. Even then, i managed to race (wasnt able to qualy) for round 7 and round 8 - test week so i could leave early on friday. Mind you i was racing along the freeway just to make the green flag (Japan), still 15 minutes late though. Same with Round 8, which again, i got caught with DC bug following Wardez' internet woes.
Which brings me to Wardez... i felt really disappointed with him dropping out. I'm not sure of the full reason but my guess is that it was all in rage. He let his emotions get the best of him after a few weeks of sub-par races accumulating to its breaking point in Monaco. I didn't want to repeat and ask him numerous times to come back. I think we all did enough to persuade him not to.
And to Dennis, this man's great. I was struggling with real life commitments so i had to pass admin duties to him while i was gone. I can't say enough about what he has done to keep the series, specially in season 1, intact. I can't complain. He's a great asset to this series.
While I rant. Masi. Please please please stop whoring the WSGTC title or whatever you changed it too. You seem yo have a plan. But us racers are suffering. To many series started and you seemed to neglect WSGTC in favor of new ventures.
Please know I support WSGTC and will put forth extra effort to help get us back to what we was a few weeks back. I take responsibility as well. Being a steward I should of spoke up instantly when I felt these feelings.
Also next season. No weeks off. Race every week. Dump Nurb 24h
Do two Spa and two Le Mans. One with out weather in day light. Shorter race. Then our Enduro's here with weather and time.
That is all I got for now.
Neglect? I created WSGTC and will always be at the top of my list. As i explained above, i cannot commit with racing fridays (until december), so in-turn, i 'tried' to create another series on Mondays. I sent out invites as well, but to no avail. I guess people are too busy that day. So i created WRC, an online time trial series which requires no commitment to any timeslot. You can run any stages you feel like.
I guarantee you, if i could race in WSGTC, i will race every week, but i can't at the moment - that's why we have multiple admins to manage in some shape or form if one or the other is away.
I started the Discussion thread (Interest Section) and i've expressed all input there. Only a few even bother to post or comment. I've proposed to further homologize the GT300 grid because of the differential in performance of the cars. I asked for help to get some of the cars and i only got a handful of responses.
I'm doing all i can to make this series the best as it can be with the little time i have free.
And to my last point, about overall participation. Around 17-18 qualified for Nur-24 and 15 started. Last season, only 6 people raced. Certainly that's a massive improvement. Compare the whole of season 2 to season 1. Participation is up at least twice (as far as i can recall).
I don't see how this is a sinking ship - far from it. Just the thought of it (from a driver's perspective) being the last race and having no chance in the points i think is the main reason not to put max effort compared to early in the season. Also, the 'off weeks' don't help at all. I think i've voiced my concern over this the same week i came back. I thought the season was too long and it might lag the attention of participants.
@ Owens - You're a great example as to how someone should conduct themselves in terms of agreeing to that 'commitment' the moment you sign-up. You made all the races last season and just one early this season. Would be great to have you back.
By the way, it's not 100% yet but
Fanatec and
InsideSimRacing will be onboard with us as Primary Sponsors for Season 3.
