How do you keep Gran Turismo 6 fun?

Well I took the term proper drive to mean something along the lines of cruise rather than pushing it to go fast.

I have always hated driving in the rain, especially at night or in fog or even near dusk or dawn.

Think of it as a fast cruise. Not necessarily ragging it with one eye on the clock but pushing it pretty hard.

I went to this thread to see what things to do to have fun and all things i see here is having fun with friends from gtplanet so i'm pretty much out as i don't have people to race with. all i find is some non speaking english or things that i don't like.

I wouldn't bet on everyone having their clothes on racing though! I was just going through to look at new joins of members to our club... and one person has on their GT6 profile "I usually play naked".

I guess that's one way of keeping it interesting. :scared: :boggled:   :odd:
(Though hey, understandable in the heat of summer, right?)

I'm not going to say who it was, because I'd rather everyone in the club who sees this just wonders if the person with this on their profile is currently in the race... and maybe that will have a deleterious effect on their performance and my finishing results will become better because of that.:mischievous:;)

And, I guess everyone knows now that I keep things interesting by being silly... :odd: :guilty: :sly:
I guess being adventurous *cough cough* 50 shades of grey *cough cough* while playing GT6 can make it exiting again  .

I hate it IRL and in the game. I can't stand night driving. Highway is fine, but small roads not so much...

I can't see 🤬 to be honest. Only when my car drops two inches on one side and bounces back up, do I know that I've hit a massive pothole.
I am absolutely horrible at night driving in the game. I can do it in real life, but hate it for sure.

A display with good contrast and black levels probably helps for night driving in the game. Turning off the lights in your room does too.
I actually do that. But I have poor vision to begin with (besides having trouble at night). It is kinda like I see the corner but can never judge my apex. I have ran tracks i day and night and it is a totally different experience.

Inbetween online racing and seasonals I am still busy giving all of the cars a go in the Nürburg 24' race.
Since I have them all and some 630 have completed the race ( some of them several times), I still have lots to do

I don't do much online myself, so if I want to have a challenging race I will usually go Single Player Race at Sierra, no changes to car settings after entering, pick a lane and stick to it around the entire course (at least 2 wheels inside at all times).
AI will cut corners as normal but I'll 'take the long way' around the corner. Also have to slow more for tighter bends and therefore be mindful of the backside to not get bumped. If I must slow for lane-crossing traffic so be it, I'll slow and concede position until they offer enough of a gap to squeeze through cleanly.
Finish is dependent upon car and AI but the challenge level is upped vs. normal. If that is still too easy, then will redo with downgraded tires or all 4 wheels inside the lane at all times.

Online racing is the way to go. Find a solid group that races on your schedule.

My best kept secret is the Spinning Arrows Club. The most awesome, funny and helpful dudes I've ever been fortunate enough to meet and race with. We do regularly scheduled "casual" nights where we just have fun and blow off steam. And intense monthly enduros, where everyone preps hard and helps everyone else out for a month before the next big race. Big props to @tarkus1 and @MRTeam for all their amazing work.

Every week I look forward to racing with these guys, I wouldn't hardly ever play GT6 otherwise.

Open invite to stop in this thursday. Also @MannYhAvitZ is a YouTube sensation who we are fortunate enough to have on or side. So Check Out His Videos of some of our races if you're at all curious. :)

IF gt6 had a good online management whit proper races and more variety (7 to 13/14 to 25 laps max) and qualify real gas consunption, tires, damage, you could avoid de single player and run as b-spec now that we have it and do real races in online! Way more fun, better cash, it can be frustrating but more "real" than 2 laps slow car crappy ai. And the changes can't be that hard to do!

Challenging the career mode with a Dahiatsu Midget, no online credits multiplier, no seasonals, not using prize/gift cars with only 1 chance per every event and choosing the most underpowered cars in the game could be considered as "keeping the fun"? :sly:

I mostly test different non-supercar cars at willow springs with my inner voice commenting in randy pobst style about the cars characteristics :dopey:

And yesterday i cruised a stock trans am with 4th gear at 80km/h with my left hand hanging out of the window at sierra
The trans am has an amazing rumbling sound when being pushed at those low rpm's :D

So i basically have fun enjoying the physics of all different types of cars being alone on a few different tracks and it seems that i never could be bored of GT6 just because the driving itself is fun due to the great physics 👍

Recently i've found myself getting a bit bored of GT , before i'd play it every day , now i play it every 2 or 3 days , and with GTA 5 Heists coming out tomorrow , i doubt i'll be playing it for a while...

I already collected almost all cars (around 1200) and finished all the events , so i pretty much "completed" the game , and i've been trying to find a way to have fun it GT.

And so , my question is , how do you keep Gran Turismo 6 fun?

For me the game represents 10% of the fun and the cars and tracks are there to enable the other 90% to happen which is online racing with clean, high quality drivers.

There are many good online series to choose from and you don't have to be fast to find one (or several) that you enjoy. I can personally recommend ones by: @FergusMik, @gkgamer, @SmileyWRX, @Cu3e, @JockeP22 and the GTP Geezer Club (for Geezers over 60 years old).

Different people enjoy different aspects, but for me the fun is in finding groups of cars which can race together to recreate great race series from the past - sometimes using substitute cars (where the originals are not in the game). Testing those cars, planning then hosting a series and seeing the great photos that the racers post here on GTPlanet. Who would have thought that a Mini, Buick Special and Renault 8 Gordini could have such similar performance and produce such great racing and recreate the spirit of early British Saloon Car Championship Racing.

I'm running twelve race series this year - this is one example - a recreation using substitute cars for the ones which competed at Le Mans in 1966:

Everyone remembers Ford's 1, 2, 3 with the Ford GT40 7 litre MK2, but not so many remember Porsche's 4, 5. 6 and 7 with their white painted 2 litre 906 / 6's.

For me, you get as much out of the game as you put in and if you have good friends and good online series to race in you will have fun!

hard to keep online fun when you have/see lots of disconnection
peoples not seing/hearing each others
see friend quit the game because of 🤬 online gameplay

Usually I only play GT6 on Friday nights in my weekly club races.
GT6 doesn't have proper races offline, and time trial can get really boring after while, so I'd rather go play something else.

I just play online with funny people, with friends or at RACE (I can't stop laughing in those lobbies). If I feel like doing something more serious, the Turtle Racing League hosts two specs races every weekend. I even try the WRS Time Trials if I have too much time.
The photomode is also great for killing time, I opened a GTP gallery last month.

I haven't touched GT6 for nearly seven months now. I guess the only thing to try is playing it with a wheel. I ordered a G27 last night, and although I bought it for Euro Truck Simulator 2, I might as well give it a spin on GT6. After enjoying Forza 4 for the past months, it will be hard to go back to GT6 though. And I just got the Porsche expansion, so...

Trying out new cars and joining my racing league on an external site. (People will have a hissy fit if I post a link.)

Nice pic of Jo Siffert.

Now that I've maxed out my credit load, whenever there's a new seasonal event, I buy the least expensive Premium car I don't own and go on until I can get double the cash and still have money left over.

Well, I thought the wheel would do something to bring back the fun with GT6.

I got the G27. It's fun, but it wasn't enough... The shifter and clutch act a bit weird. Missing a lot of gears and I can't power shift either. It's like the clutch is almost a on/off switch. The wheel itself feels like it's going to fall apart when playing. It's not nearly as difficult as I thought, but rather chaotic. I';m pretty sure a BMW M5 would stay solid to the road when on a straight, instead of the wheel trying to rip your arms off. Definitely not how a real car would feel.

The wheel was worth it though. Played ETS2 for nearly 10 hours straight today!
