How I USED to make 5,000,000 credits/hour through Custom Races... using a Fiat. But not anymore.

So for anyone who is not level 50 yet (I'm now!! Whoo!!) this was my method:
  • Maxed out Abarth with Nitrous, nothing else changed
  • Tomahawks crippled as in naffantait's video
  • Rubber band the gas and nitro buttons, motion control tilt VERY SLIGHTLY!! Since it usually reaches 150-180km/h, you need the smallest tilt.
1 lap time with NoS is 1:10, without NoS is 1:32. 26 laps net you around 860k (+CRB which you always get) in around 33 minutes.
Thank you everyone! I'm off to the swa(m)pland!
I’m running 53-55 second lap times with a maxed out, engine swapped Abarth with N2O while wall riding. Did you not do the engine swap?

So my super high collector points is basically meaningless now. Oh well I’ve barely touched GT7 since FM came out anyway and I now need to somehow gold all of the CE if I wanted to keep up which probably won’t ever happen. I guess I’m hanging up my GT7 grinding hat until the honeymoon with FM23 ends or I get every car in FM.

What’s the consensus, do we think PD will try and patch this out of the game? I can’t see how they can without just going back to before and nerfing custom race payouts

Yeah easy - they just make the current pp rating be what they base the payouts on not stock. This will change I'm sure of it

On the other hand. Credits will go down, but AFK method with rubbers would still work just less effective. But having an option to earn credits (even less effective) without actually driving braindead race will still be fine.

If the payouts in custom races are even close to 1 million / hr without having to exploit it then that'll be a huge improvement. There's a lot of fun to be had with custom races, and it would make the grind hugely more enjoyable if the 'fun' races you can setup also offered some worthwhile credits. It would almost be a step away from "the grind".
This. I get the hype about this credits exploit. And yes, it’s comparably a lot of money per hour. But it really just highlights again how broken the credits economy in GT7 is. The fact that people actually go to these lengths, either sitting in front of their screens for the dullest ever racing experience or putting rubber bands on their controllers…

Geez, this really needs to be addressed as a whole and not just tuning some custom race payouts like PD did with the latest update. And it’s actually very simple:
1. Don’t price cars at 20m credits.
2. Double the layouts for endurance races.
3. Give us more of the longer races on different tracks for variety.

I think the weighting (how the calculate the credits to award) in Custom races is actually ok now but the duration factor seems to stop at about 100km. From then they just add like 1% to the current prize fund for every 100km after the first 100km

(Don't quote me on those figures I've not actually used a calculator!)

You dont need to gold all the CE,I havent and still get a decent payout, not like if I had gold on everything but still enough to make credits. If you still want to`hang up GT7`thats your choice.

Started with the rubberband grind yesterday, wow this is amazing.

I now realize I never wanted 'fair payouts' for all races. I just dont want to worry about credits at all. With now just 10 million in the bank, I finally have the feeling I unlocked GT7's pandora box. I just want to do whatever the **** I want. Make a scape photo of this amazing new Ferrari? Let's go. Create a custom grid with 20 hypercars? Why not. Do a Sophy race with a heavily modded Nissan? On it! I can now finish all the events for 100% because it's fun and there's no voice in my head saying 'yeah but you need more money'. I dont have to choose where I'm spending my hard earned money on, I can do it ALL.

Again, thanks for this amazing method.

My tip is to set the spacing in the race options to be 100ft or 33m, something like that.

That way the Tomahawks are too far away from each over to try moves or draft and so they just form an easy line for you to pass. This also stops them from crashing into each other potentially causing chaos.
How are you doing that? If I try to change the spacing it just becomes locked at 15m.

One thing I'm finding is it's actually better to make the Tomahawks slower and lap them more often. The reason for this is it seems to be the slipstream that bunches them up, and the slipstream has more effect the faster they're going. When I made them lap faster they just became more bunched up and were more often not leaving me a gap to get through along the wall.

GTS had the ability to reasonably easily obtain all the cars by AFK credit grinding, and it was never removed from the game. The fact that this hasn't been present in GT7 till now has been a major reason why I've never enjoyed GT7 anywhere near as much as GTS (combined with the time-gating of cars).

Yes, the desire for fair payouts for races is just a concession, something we could reasonably ask for. Getting rid of credits completely is much better, but the credit economy car collecting concept has been so ingrained in GT and Forza for so long that nobody expects to be heard if they ask for that, so they try to ask for things that have some chance of being listened to.

I've got mine only going slightly slower than me so I pass them at the start and never see them again. It takes 3 to 4 laps to get past them at the start (stay high, keep position on the straghts, get them in the corners) and they finish the race 25 secs behind me.

Well that depends on what your looking to achieve.

Do you wanna own 1 of every car or multiple of every car?

To see which LCD cars you already have you can use the UCD car selling feature and this post by Eggstor.

Now I've got to 100m credits, I've realised that's the max the game will let you have! So I guess we just buy every brand central car, maybe even multiples of cars that can have the engine swapped, or can be wide bodied, get it back to 100m, and then we're done till a car we don't have comes back to the LCD.

Now I've got to 100m credits, I've realised that's the max the game will let you have!
In terms of "free" credits, yes. However you can have (almost, I think) as many paid credits as you can buy.

reached at 100m cr today. bought all engine swaps . now i have to spend 60m cr to 20m cars. after that, my game progress is %100

They were testing a method for people who haven't reached level 50 and don't have the right engines.
Who is testing this? I personally am working on a script that is a total PITA. I'm using a Volkswagen 1200 '66 with nitrous, max speed is 78mph downhill and depending on how the AI drives, 80% of the time I get first place. I'm level 44 with stage 1-3 in daytona time trial complete besides the full lap and it pays out about 54k every 2.5 minutes so around 800k an hour. I've exhausted all of the 6 star roulets and collected useless engines for this purpose. I'm trying to automate this using a script but it's so inconsistent, I have to do some research.

I'd love to hear if anyone else has made any progress

My adorable little script has been farming for 2 days now:lol: 100 million feels good lmao
Curious what setup you're using for the scripted runs? Or what I should ask - does it work nonstop, or does it fail after some time and you have to reset it?

Reason I'm asking, is because I've doing some testing with Remote Play v5.5 and PS4Macro, and while it works well while I watch it, after I've left it alone for a few hours, it gets thrown off somewhere, for some reason, and when I come back to it it's out in the menu or similar, like it has missed or done the wrong input somewhere.

Case in point: Last night I tried for the second time to run it overnight - I make my own script (Abarth without swap, not lvl 50 yet), with safe margins for when I set it to press X to continue and so on (I've done a couple of scripts before this, having seen some point of failures to watch out for). I watch it run 15+ races without problem, and leave it overnight.

Today when come back to it, its in the replay menu doing who knows what - the script is still running, but obviously been thrown off somewhere. I can see it has accrued around 3.3m CR total, so it must have been working for 50+ races (I make about 56k per race), but then failed somehwere. I estimate it has been working for under 2 hours total before it failed..

Any tips or input would be lovely 😄 I am just so curious to figure out whats wrong, more than I care about the CR, haha

I haven't tested without engine swaps, but with engine swaps the VW 1200 is around 5 secs a lap slower than the Abarth 595. My advice is to just get the money to buys cars to reach level 50 and engine swap the Abarth ASAP then grind with that. I have the Abarth doing 35 lap races in around 29:10 per race, getting just under 2m each time. It's sufficiently easy to set it going again that I haven't bothered scripting it. I have fuel consumption on 1x, and nitrous on 10x and 10%, and both last for a 35 lap race.

If you're only getting 1st place 80% of the time, you may be able to set the AI up better. I've found the best thing to do is to only nerf the AI gear ratios, don't nerf them in any other way. Make the gear ratios the slowest they can be set to. This causes them to bunch up in the corners where they are leaving plenty of space for you to pass, then they thin out a bit on the straights, so my car almost always just sails past them without hitting them, I get the CRB almost every time with it driving AFK.

What’s the consensus, do we think PD will try and patch this out of the game? I can’t see how they can without just going back to before and nerfing custom race payouts
They could easily take away the CRB for touching the wall. They could adjust the PP settings so current rated PP is what calculates the payout. If they do both of those, they have pretty much ruined this.

But in the mean time, I need to run this race about 40 more times to get to 100M credits. I don’t really care about buying all the engine swaps. A number of them make the cars completely impossible to drive. Some are amazing, like the LT engine in the Miata. Others are just kind of meh…

Yeah it's annoying that it doesn't reset the car if it's off track. Something happened to mine earlier (I work from home but couldn't get to it immediately) and it had been doing donuts on the infield. If it just plonked it back on the track it would've only cost me a few seconds and the CRB rather than coming last
