If GT5 does incorporate a livery editor...

The latest discussions make me think there will be no livery editor. PD is not the studio that want those young kids f. up the nice cars they made. I think it will be more likely that they put in a few livery's of some racecars or only some paintjob and decals of some sponsors (like grid).

I would make a red car that had the text "THIS CAR IS BLUE" in the rear just to confuse the ones behind to miss the next braking point :D

Or maybe a math problem like "24 + 7 * 3 = ???" It's easy enough to count but hard enough to distract you from the race :)

Hahah That´s really nice lol. Or just add a picture of some nude girls on it, also working perfect. :P

Wanted to say don't worry about it, PD should trust us enough to give us the total freedom to create with all its possible implications and just concentrate on the possible beautiful creations that might evolve out of this.
And maybe just ignore those with questionable taste/sense of humor as they will be a minority, until well, read below.................:indiff:

I think it was in rFactor that I created a pink car sponsored by Playboy just to be an @$$ with some buddies

Eh, thats fair enough. Just because of the subject matter it doesn't always mean it was designed badly. Having half nekid ladies done in a tastful and well designed way would be better than some shoddy badly designed monstrosity with typical race logos all over it.

That's also very true, i just wish for total creative freedom with all possible negative/distasteful consequences taken for granted.
And you're also right in saying some chosen subject matter is not necessarily going to be distasteful.
Just wish this view was shared by PD and Sony, but at least any livery editor is better than none.;)

Well that ain't pink. But it is simple and stylish.

As Analog stated full creative freedom would be best.

Oh poop, is that game out yet?? ZOMG...

GAH... you evil guy, you got me excited! I thought it was shipping in May. :P

Wow after seeing some of the things people want to attempt, it would be a waste if they couldn't share it properly.
When i played Forza at my friends i quite liked the auction house and thought it was a good idea so i think GT could do something similar to this. Like on older GT's you could buy "used" cars, these would actually have been used by people from around the world. But yeah back to my point, perhaps being able to sell these designs to people as a way to bring in money. Perhaps it costs you X amount to put it on each car that buys it but you can charge what you like for it.
The only problem is that this could unbalance the car by people bringing in money whilst not actually racing, but i suppose people could only buy it whilst you are in the auctiony place. I dunno, but if it was implemented properly i think it would be a cool idea!

Oh and there would be people who would find a way to spam..
Wow i just picked apart my genius idea :/

That's just reminded me of a ~'96 Prelude I saw today; silly bodykit with massive wing, stickers all over it, naff zorst - probably neglected and mistreated. There'd be loads of these on the (hypothetical) GT auction :indiff:

and so what if there is??. Its not hurting anyone in any way at all

Personally I'm hoping that there isn't a livery editor in GT5. In forza 3 they focused too much on all the other aspects such as liveries, photos, storefront's etc. I think that all of this took away from the actual racing experience. I would rather that PD stuck to what they are good at, which is making the best racing game as possible.

i would only hope its workable for the non artistic

b

Also hope it will be workable for those who do posses artistic skills, as they're not necessarily complemented by technical skills.
If indeed it is included, i think there will be several possiblities to approach it and given PD's logical menu's i assume it will be implemented clearly and understandable to everyone and the end results might differ not just by artistic ability but also the time you're willing to spend and choices you make.

Well, fine if you like that sort of thing, but it could be cumbersome having to filter through all the ruined cars to find the odd gem - but then that's what happens in real life...

Hmmm, maybe there could be different "auction houses" - i.e., one for the "modified" ('tard) scene
classics
ex-racers
drag
restorations
etc.
etc.

A bit like there are specialist listings for real cars in the real world :dopey:

At least some sort of criterion for cars with certain modifications could be set in a search, or something ?

If those mods are reversible, and i'm guessing any mod will be, and a "real" marketforce is put in place i guess some of those might actually be snapped up for a bargain and needing some little TLC.
And you would probably have some already bought mechanical tuning parts thrown in for free, might not be as black and white after all.:sly:

Oh, and yes most heavily visual modified road cars are for tards.

Never said I did, but I'm also not going to pretend that my taste in cars represents the "correct," or "good," or whatever else you want to believe...

Ruined in your opinion...

"modified" ('tard) scene
Now modified cars are for "tards" oh please...:dunce:

the auction house, if there is one should be handled just like Forza 3...you can sell full cars with already modified livers/tuning/mods...or you can sell just the designs to the cars...

Yeah, don't agree that modified cars are for tards. Yes there may be some or a lot of bad mods going on but if someones knows there stuff it could be great.

Does sounds good though the idea of being able to grab a bargin with a car maybe half done up with a couple upgraded parts and all you'd have to do is fix up the rest and you'd have a awesome car done for a lot less than the full price.

But unlike in real life I don't think money will be a big issue to get in game so in the end I don't think it would matter so much.

Forza does have some good search tools. You can search by make - and model, search with a menu of preset key words, or even search with a keyword you type manually. On top of that, you know there will be board space provided here for livery artists to post about cars being worked on, and projects finished and up for auction. And to make special cars even more special, the seller can limit how many copies of an item will get auctioned. So a special livery for those of us here at GT Planet like alba and others worked on could be low, or even free, and be for auction forever. A special one of a kind replica or original might be limited to 25 or 50 copies, so that those who got one could know they really do have something unique. The rest of us could beg for a reissue, or try to make our own.

Pretty good incentive to try your hand at painting a car, really. ;)

Question: I was just wondering, if you were designing up a car and were making a bunch of graphic pieces say logos and such in game, would you be able to save them separtely to some kind of library so you can import/use them again on another car? What is the system in Forza?

And furthermore if you made a car livery and wanted to use that on another car do you think there would be a way to import an existing creation and use it as a base for another car?

Was only thinking about these points because I like the idea of doing a few cars as a series of styled cars, like a Team's livery for example.

This is how Forza works. You can either store your self-designed logos or upload them to the store front so other people can use them on their cars.

Ok cool. Well if it GT uses a similar system then that'd be alright.

I wonder what pixel resolution the skins would be produced at. hmm.

Edit: In forza, how does those elements work as far as scaling or resizing? Say you made something at certain size like a logo but made it bigger than you needed incase you wanted to use it differently next time. What kind of size limits are there? And when resized does the image get re-interpolated or does it just look jagged or wierd because of too much size change.

Or would you just make different sized versions of the same graphic?

Not that any of this will be how GT works if it does have a livery editor but just curious as to what exists and what I might be in for as far as usability.
