Some Lion's Den Performance Racing liveries on my race cars, particularly the home-built ones, would be nice.

Did this a while ago, I hope there'll be some newer Yaris models in the game... :D Also, first post here!

My favorite livery is the Rahal/Letterman BMW M3 GT2 from last year (sans JOY but instead Efficient Dynamics). Coincidentally, BMW holds an annual Art Car Project- not the typical stuff you'd find in races or in Forza 3 but this year Jeff Koons (know for his huge "balloon" animal installation) is the chosen artist. In the past there were Warhol, Lichtenstein, Rauschenberg etc.. For his design Koons "collected images of race cars and graphics, vibrant colors and speed. He layered them into a digital collage depicting his sources of inspiration. The resulting graphic conceived by Koons – evocative of power, motion and light and rendered in the artist's signature saturated hues on a black ground set against the car's silver interior – will impart a dynamic appearance to the race car even when it's standing still." The collage will be spread over an M3 GT2 race car and shown at Paris Centre Pompidou just before this year's Le Mans. Here's the preliminary design:

The Jeff Koons design above is the first "art livery" which said *zoom* to me. I'm looking forward to this one.

Unfortunately, life got in the way of my own car art tonight. Alas, but perhaps tomorrow...

A lot of nice pics of some ideas but would you rather use your own imagine? I would.

i would do the same as i do on forza

standard colours but sticking as many of my faveourite companies logos as i can fit on my car

Same here, though for the most part, I do want to create originals. The cars I posted in the thread, except for the Altezza, are originals.

Well I do agree there, making originals will be the most fun. I just hope there will be an ability to load images from the drive to use. Because making complex graphics or logos within a game app is usually tedious and takes much longer.

This is when you head to the store to buy decals others have made. :sly:

This is a feature in Forza 3 which I hope is "borrowed" for GT5, because I agree, creating decals is tedious and time consuming. I've made dozens and dozens of decals, flags and other livery items myself, and it is rather time consuming. So I've also resorted to Forza 3's storefront to buy many items when I just want to slap something on a car I've already spent tens of hours painting up. There are some very talented artists in the Forza community who have made some very accurate designs. This really needs to be incorporated in GT5.

I don't think there will be the ability to load images though, because of the opportunity for mischief. I could be wrong though, and they could use the community and mods to keep things clean. If we could learn that punnishment comes hard and heavy when people abuse it, maybe we could be trusted with graphic import.

They really do a great job. Despite Forza's whole "let's put the baby from Family Guy on our car and make him fight an anime catgirl" on every car reputation, there are a lot of honest-to-god awesome car people on there with great skills making the stuff people who are big into cars and are older than 12 want. I got the urge to paint up my Lotus Elan in John Player Special livery, and was able to get all the logos I needed off the storefront, and this is the case with pretty much every logo or image that has ever been part of any good bit of racing livery going back decades. When I wanted to paint my 131 in Martini livery and couldn't be bothered to spend time making the fairly easy logo, I just hit the storefront and had my choice of at least 50, maybe as many as 70, perfect recreations of the Martini logo.

A lot of people make awful, tasteless crap, but for those who want to make their race cars look like actual race cars, the storefront offers everything you'd ever want or need.

Or being turned into one big piggy like this Porsche ( with all the "parts" marked in German ). ;)

Right now I'm fighting an urge to fire up Forza and put step-by-step pictorial instructions for how to properly dice an onion on the side of a DBR9.

Thats halarious. even looks round and fattish in shape like a pig.

Yeah I know image loading is not likely. Just would make things easier tis all. But as has been mentioned there'd be a number of ***** trying to put all kinds of crap on their cars. :grumpy:

You'd be surprised. The cars you see online in Forza, which means on Xbox Live, the home of the most obnoxious crap-spewing 13 year olds in the known universe, are at worst just, well, tacky and stupid. You rarely see anybody trying to be shocking or offensive. Most of the time you just see racing liveries done by people with no graphic design skills.

And when you do see people do something with their cars with the intention of getting a reaction out of somebody, it's usually light-hearted, innocent smack talk. My favorite was the guy I raced who wrote "BEEP BEEP" on his front bumper backwards as a playful taunt to the driver in front of him as they look in their rearview mirror while they try to block him from passing.

Racing games, sims in particular, don't attract the same crowd other types of games do online.

yeah I hear ya Balocco. But even just tacky badly designed stuff makes me cringe. But not everyone is good at design.

I go "ugh" at a lot of cars I see and wonder how anybody could find that aesthetically pleasing, but it's a lot better than seeing every car painted with a crudely drawn penis that has "HITLER JIHAD 9/11" written on it.

Well, that's another easily solved issue. In Forza 3, you can either go to the storefront and search for a livery, because the liveries themselves can be sold, not the car. Or, go to the boards and ask some car artist to make a livery for you. I did that once, it was a lot of fun, and I made a tidy sum doing it. There are a number of people who have made a "career" in Forza just painting liveries or making decals.

Tidy sum? as in actual money? or some form of creds? I am unfarmiliar with XBL as I put all my eggs in one basket in going with PS back in the day, can't really afford two systems.

Would be cool to sell some liveries. Just have to find the time to sit down and make a fair few. But when the GT5 is released finally, I think i'll be too busy rracing for a while.:)

Yes, that would be game credits. The only thing that costs actual money are the DLC cars you buy from MS. Not to say that a few deals weren't worked out privately with actual cash, but that's their business.

On the other hand, one or two people have actually been hired in real life to design liveries for racing teams, based on how much their cars in Forza impressed the teams. Now that's an accomplishment not many can crow about!

Adding a livery editor would be amazing. There's so much space on the blu ray disc, so why not implement something as useful as this? So many fans of cars would have a blast just editing their favorite rides. And rightly so. There's nothing like adding a sense of you into a beautiful car. Talk about the essence of racing, the essence of Gran Turismo. The car and the driver united. Call it matrimony. Doesn't get much better, I reckon:)

Absolutely yes

+1 for legendary post 👍

Das ist ein leckeres Auto! I never knew there was a big German pork baron controlling its pork industry like pork's Rupert Murdoch.
