Well said Analog, I agree 100% and if there is unnecessary things made on cars couldn't there just be a report button. Also I expect there will be far more people using questionable language than there would be people making offensive design's don't you?

Pro Evolution Soccer on PS3 allows you to import .PNG files for kit designs, so it has been done.

Microsoft wont allow it though and you either have to draw it yourself in a crude Paint way or buy their pointless Live Vision cam.

An 'offensive' design is probably a question of taste foremost but maybe you mean truly offensive images ( offensive in multiple ways ) which indeed could appear although a report button would probably be too complicated to implement, I mean what's stopping some people who lost a race to report the winner for example with the excuse of having an inappropriate livery?
Not sure how this could be avoided though, unless the freedom for all will be severely limited due to it by making it more, well, limited.:)

Im in love :) plain simple and sexy

I love speedhunters
That meat Porsche really makes me hungry
On the subject of backwards writing, I'd love to put this on my windscreen in whatever car I use:

I'd like to hide one comedy ad on each car. Mostly in very sneaky way, so everything looked legit and pro, until closer inspection.
new_diamond_shreddies.jpg

Like this , for example, tucked away and fitting seamlessly with the rest of the livery.

Id probably be immature and do what I did on Modnation Racers and make Viagra and Playboy racing cars but i can be serious and I made an Airfix one aswell so the line between offensive and not is abit thin

Well... those are the only options anyone has available for a livery editor. ;)

As for importing images, as much as I'd like that myself, there's just too much opportunity for nonsense with that. No console game I'm aware of will let you do that, because too many kids will put obscene, racist or radical crap on their cars, sometimes just to get a rise from others for all of five minutes. Humans baffle me.

There's a website or two I lost track of with logos from various businesses around the world, and it would be so cool to just grab them and use them in Gran Turismo.

Website is possibly " best brands of the world "... a livery makers homepage

as for the bad taste / questionable car skins..

you will always get muppets putting stuff on cars to get a rise... ( little things please little minds ) even if its just a written word

maybe as somone suggested some kind of report button for questionable skins... or skins in private races only.. at least that way if your in a league or race regularly with friends you can still race with your design..

I have been skinning for years on pc sims.. and have always wanted to be able to skin GT...

heres some of my work.. and this is the kind of thing i would love to be able to do to the whole GT garage... fictional and recreation skins

there must be a way to enable this to happen... I for one have wanted this since GT 1

Can i just say they look amazing, We need a livery editor on GT5 just to see what you come up with (ghostrider135 stops kissing arse now) lol

haha.. i didnt post it for arse kissing purposes... i just wanted to show what i want from a livery editor in GT...

but thanks anyhow :dopey:

simple USB support to import files and the sky's the limit...

CMON SONY.... you know you want to.... lol

The one thing that's often lacking in this discussion is humour I find, as much as I hope a livery editor will give me and others who are similarly minded the opportunity to hopefully create unique and beautiful designs or others the chance to replicate an existing design, the fear some seem to have for obscenities or bad jokes to appear in their precious clean cut GT-Utopia is sometimes hilarious.

A simple option to not display custom liveries online would of course solve this but why impose self-censorship in the first place?
I'm not suggesting appreciating obscene language, symbols or bad jokes but part of the fun for me probably is watching cars created by people with no taste, code of conduct or creative skill as they stroll by, like I do seeing horribly butched-up and questionable modded road cars and their drivers passing by in real life.
Seeing those poorly conceived monstrosities always makes me chuckle ( and making completely unfounded and highly judgemental assumptions about their drivers ;)) but maybe I'm in a minority regarding this.

Anyway, like I said before the creative opportunity offered by a livery editor hopefully creates for the most part beautiful designs or recreations but it also offers the opportunity for a good joke and why not?
I couldn't contain doing it myself to be honest and adding a joke or an entire concept based on a humorous notion can also create an object of beauty itself like the picture below shows in my view ( it's a Porsche 917 "Piggy" ).
Remember the classic BMW 2002 Turbo in GT4 whereby the word Turbo was written mirrored on the front spoiler like the real one making it only readable seeing it from the rearview mirror of the car in front?
That was a nice joke by BMW in my opinion and sure offers opportunities to make a message only readable through looking in the mirror ( funny or not ).:)

These are very tasteful a lot of thought went in to them. Now this I would love to see in GT5. And we all seen Kaz talking about Mod Nation.

Haha as nice as the idea is and how much we would all love it I cant see it happening myself much in the same way Image importing couldn't be done on littlebigplanet (for fear of copyright infringement) sadly :(, So i guess if we did get a livery editor we would have to make us own Logos e.t.c but that said it could even the playing field out abit but on the otherhand it could have the opposite effect, And thanks Zuel I couldnt find my Viagra car sadly haha but i suppose F1 and WRC e.t.c have advertised alcohol and tobacco products so adult products shouldn't really taboo should it ? lol

as much as im not a forza xbox m/soft fan...

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x222/mrlatteuk/MrLatte959NearCompletion.jpg

you can skin forza...

doesnt seem to be any issues with copyright infringement there...

also having a tool where you can paint.. means you can copy anything anyway... just takes longer..

so either way..

either it cannot be done.. or to hell with it, sony dont take any responsibilty al lthey have created is an editor... its not up to them what people choose to do with it.

i really dont see any issue... especially as its already being done... :indiff:

PC sim modders have been doing this for years... i never once seen a company complain because someone is using a logo without permission... either they are unaware, dont give a hoot, or the paperwork / cost / for one logo is too much to warrant doing anything about...

sorry to harp on about it...

but damn it would be cool to skin all those beautifull cars..

surely there has to be some way around this... and Kaz did say they were looking into it...

Nice 959 by the way, I cant really think of anything witty to say to that lol but the thing is SONY is a big company and maybe they are too afraid of any bad publicity, Microsoft don't give two hoots about anything coz Bill Gates could pay anybody off lets be honest lol, In my personal opinion though I would rather have to make logos e.t.c myself just purely coz it seems like more effort has been put in and that way the rewards seem that little big greater

There has been an F1 car sponsored by...( look at the provided picture ) in the seventies.
It was soon nicknamed "the small family car" ( get it? ).;)

This is an example of what I have done with FM3 livery editor, for my two teams, just to show what can be done, without being lairy...

thats a nice porka skin dude..

i have never played forza so dont really know what the editor is like or the game come to think of it ( always been a GT man... )

I have however seen many skins from users that could quite easily slip into coyright infringement.... and nobody seems to give a damn.

are you able to race your skins online with forza ?? or are they just for personal use ?

I have always bought and played GT games and love them to death... but always go back to pc sims after a while because I am able to create my own cars on there... not just the 3D, but skins too..

IF there were some way I was able to skin 1000 GT cars how i wanted... PC SIM racing would not get a look in on my screen.

that 959 isnt mine BTW... so kudos to whoever skinned it..... lol

As for sony not wanting bad press.... c'mon... with all the release date fiasco thats going on atm..

I do see your point about re-creating from scratch each and every logo and feeling the sense of accomplishment after.. I have done this with many skins I have produced for PC SIMS.. alot of the older cars had advertising on that doesnt exist now... and finding a logo is impossible.. so your left with no choice but to make it yourself, the BPR cars first spring to mind from 1996.

Most of the logo's that I would want to use are licenced and in GT anyways, it would then just be a case of the colour scheme. and maybe adding the odd one here or there.

I know this aint gonna happen, and I want to much...

just for me it would put GT at the top of the pile in as far as .. great gameplay / best graphics of any racer .inc PC / user options.

Why, thank you ;)

I race online with it all the time, in public and private lobbies, and have never had any issues with it. I've got a load of other liveries that I've done, I'll put them up sometime, but the best one I've ever done is this one... Took me about 40 hours in total, with 3980 layers (item shapes) out of a possible 4000 used.

Hahahahaha oh dear this must show that im really rather immature that is the best thing ive seen in months lol

Lol at the whole release date fiasco thing lol that is something to exploit if we got a livery editor ;), but I do see your point for older rarer logos e.t.c but ill just say look harder and your shall find :P, I guess all we can do is hope for a release date soon and hopefully some feature details so we can ascertain weather we get liveries or not

I need to bookmark this page. Those are some beautiful, pro-looking liveries, Border. 👍

A livery editor really would make everyone happy. Those who want nothing to do with it can... have nothing to do with it. Those who want a new car but don't have a clue how to use it can pay some artist in game credits to whip up a ride they'll dearly love. Those who want to get their feet wet can be schooled by those of us who have used similar tools in games like Forza, or can get help directly by sharing cars. And those of us who have the knack can whip up the cars of our dreams. Car clubs and racing teams can have a unique identity like real life race car drivers with their own liveries and sponsors.

It's almost inevitable that we get a livery painter of some kind in Gran Turismo. I just hope against hope that we can ultimately get one in GT5, because GT6 is likely three years or more off. And as fun as Forza can be, it's just not quite as good, and Turn 10 manages to blow something up in each game, like every MS product.

this isnt livery but it would be nice to do this to my cars in gt5 it would make me forget everything bad that happen if i can rock the hellaflush look in gt5

Nothing wrong with Viagra and Playboy liveries, DTM runs Playboy Benzes and NASCAR Runs Pfizer\Viagra COTs.

Has to be pointed out though its not something you see everyday haha, And that some rather immature people i.e me still find things like that to be quite entertaining :P

Ive been a life long GT fan, but I just wish it had a editor whereby you could make truly unique creations and sell them in a marketplace

What really got me was this:

My question is, what type of Livery will you create if/when the GT series puts it in place?
