Resolution and Hz must be the same for Nvidia i think.

I guess just try it and see what happens.

ok thanks for the info!

think HZ and resolution are the same, but im using the sapphire radeon 6970 2 gb card. any info regarding that perhaps?

Shouldn't be an issue as the ATi drivers allow you to run different monitors at different rates, provided they're not replicating screens (ie, seeing the same thing across all screens). I've got a 19" monitor and a 32" Panasonic TV connected to a Powercolor 5750 512Mb, and as long as they are set to the same resolution and Hz, it's fine.

Maybe your just weird? Because the car feels really good to me. I feel none of the sensations that you feel. I feel like i'm actually driving the acura where as most other cars in the game I feel like i'm detached from the road just sort of floating. And have you driven the Acura in lobbies with other people? It's certainly not easy to drive fast. I found it easy to drive fast because it really really really suites my driving style. But i've heard countless stories of people struggling to find speed in it. Maybe you should check if your FFB is peaking and adjust accordingly.

I have played with the FFB settings and the power steering car settings, I'm no newbie to using my G27 and i know how to set it up how i like it. It isnt a massive deal, I just generally don't think the LMP2 feels all that great. I'm no wizzard alien driver but I'm above average and i've been playing Netkar for the last while, as i said. The LMP2 is exactly the type of car i'm used to driving in sim racing and I can drive it easily but as I said I'm no pro, I'm never in a position where I am going to be competing with the division 1 guys who race it everyday, I just don't have the time to practice, and setup (that i suck at) makes such a difference.

Example - My Silverstone GP setup I had been given for the F1 car and used for a while had me stuck at 1:23, I tried another setup and went 1:20 within 2-3 laps and it just felt easy. I do suck at setup and I don't have the time to learn to perfect it or practice it, I also don't have the benefit that real life drivers have (not needing to know how to setup a car to race) so I'm stuck with the hand me down setups or the iRacing basic setups.

Also, iRacing evolves faster than I get the chance to play it, I used to run a comfortable 59.7 (ish) at Lime Rock in the MX5, after my resub this week I did 5 laps and slammed out a 59.1 - I am rusty so I know that is not skill, so something has changed in the sim that has made the MX5 considerably faster.

Lastly, I don't race and haven't in some time, 90% of my driving is done in offline testing and apart from aquiring my D licences all of my licences were earned via time trials, mostly because on my old PC iRacing caused it to blue screen or just power down when there were lots of cars on track.

Last thing : There are an absolute load of people on the iRacing forums who feel exactly the same as I do, so I doubt it is me being "weird".

Then maybe your all a bit weird. I almost neget listen to the people in the iRacing forums because most of them dont know anything. I am fairly good friends with Simon Pagenaud, and he told me the car feels really quite close. He said it can handle bumps a bit smoother IRL but thats about it. So... that being said. Most of you are weird IMO.

So I must have practiced for like 2.5 hours yesterday in my brand new Skippy (on Lime Rock btw). I know for sure I probably did bout 60 laps. But I've only gotten my time down to 1.03s :ouch:

Apparently the average iRacer can hit 1 min easily so I guess this means obviously in a real race they will be blowing off my doors at launch. I've been watching replays, tweaking my setup using advice from forums, etc. Man I hope I can my times down to a nice consistent 1.02 at least.

I really don't want to hop out on that track doing 1.03s if I can help it.

edit: interesting, on the forums they seem to running some more drastic setups than I anticipated. Guess I was using pre-NTM setups or something. maybe this will help me cut another second or two

God this was confusing for me to read. Are you talking about 1:03.000 or 1:00.03 I can't tell what time you ran.

But don't give up man. All on the practice. If you want any help with the skippy hit me up in about a week and I can give you some tips. I don't know if they will make you uber fast in the car but I've driven the Skippy in real life a ton of times and could tell you the stuff that works in the game that I do in real life.

@christhedude - why did you just drive off the track at the end?

Sweet I'll appreciate the help. Ya I meant 1:03.000 was my best time so far. However, it appears most people are running 1:00.000 lap times. So I've been just sticking to practice sessions with this car until I can improve.

Yeah ChristTheDude I watched the video earlier hoping for some inspiration or tips but was shocked to see you wrecking over and over. Sounded like your wheel disconnected?

I think I was running 58's at Limerock. Could be wrong but I recall the Skippy being about a second faster than the Miata which runs low 59's around there.

Show us a lap. I´m confident that you are just not using all of the track or the right line through certain corners like T2 which is abit tricky if you never driven the track before.

Take my replay for example. This was in a private lobby that had about 40 people come through in the Acura. I set fast time. I'm not driving the car completely idiotically. Infact, I don't even see a single correction to the steering wheel. The biggest thing I notice is how smooth the input is. Maybe try driving the car like this?

Fixed.

If you watched the video and you listen to me talk, you will hear that i say that my wheel and pedals just disconnected for some strange reason... :)

well, if people want i could make a "how to" or "tips and tricks" for the skippy video...
Regarding the crashes... Turn 1 after the start, i ran a bit wide and my left rear wheel touched the dirt, hence i lost it and spun but recovered pretty quickly and yea, in the end of the video, my wheel and pedals just disconnected out of nowhere.... strange

:)

Yea makes some videos Chris, i like them.
But i still for some reason think you are Andreas Nie that does the exhibition stuff for Inside simracing.tv

Don´t ask me why lol :)

I was watching it in my History and Significance of Racism in America class. So I couldn't really have the sound on.

:lol::lol: and i promise you that im not andreas nie. I mean, i certainly would like to work and help out Inside sim racing but im not him.
Infact, theres is a significant difference, cause hes german, and im austrian, so our accent is kinda different even though we both speak the same language, but the dialect/accent is different :)

explains the question then :)
regards to japan btw :)

Yea i know but it´s always that initial "hey guys" then i know that it´s not you because i think i said that to you before :)

Keep the videos coming!

When you say "regards to Japan" what exactly do you mean? Sometimes im not so good with expressions lol :D

I worked on making my replay last night to demo my issues. I was practicing with the Skippy on Lime Rock. It appears I've hit a brick wall around 1.02.

But at least I'm a clean driver so I am sure my SR would go up but my iRating will continue to dwindle. Ah well. It is still very much an honor and a pleasure to drive alongside this community. I think I just need to remain patient though and master these Class D vehicles.

I drove the Ford Mustang a bit last night too and wow I agree it is much easier to drive than the skippy. My times are pretty much decent with that car already. I used to have an '05 Mustang and this one in the game reminds me of it quite a bit. But this might sound outrageous but I could've sworn my real life car had more grip? Sometimes it feels like these iRacing devs just put the equivalent of "Sports Soft" tires on all these cars to make us learn how to control them

Cause when I drive my Williams F1 I can have very nice grip (feels like true racing slick tires). But these other Class D cars feel like they have on tires with not very much traction. I've read that the Skippy for sure isn't using racing slicks. It's taken me tons of laps to learn how to keep it stable

Well, I can tell you that the difference from the Williams F1 tires to the Ford Mustang are going to be huge. F1 tires are designed to last... oh lets say 30-50 laps being generous. The tires on the Stang are probably more similar to a endurance tire which can last much much longer than an F1 tire. They're so hard in fact that they can sometimes be triple stinted, or so we saw at Le Mans this year. So harder compound will last longer but have less grip.

You are pushing to hard or making way to many corrections with the wheel which upsets the balance of the car.
It´s impossible for your Mustang to have more grip that the one in the game unless your Mustang was tuned.
The mustang in game is probably the laziest car in the game in terms of rear end happiness.
What FFB settings do you use? It´s never a good option to run with "your own" settings or what you feel is right because that might not be correct.
You also said you were working with a replay but then you changed subject :)
If you give me the replay of the lap i can whip up a video clip that we can help you with.

And no offense but are you wondering why an F1 car has more grip than a Mustang?

Less weight - wider tires - better rubber - downforce - more mechanical grip - Slicks vs grooved R-tires/road tires depending on car. etc etc.

I definitely think you should run with your "Own" settings, since there are no correct settings for FFB, the way FFB works in general is wrong as far as making it feel like a real car is concerned, that goes for all the sims and infact there was a cool article about it written by a wheel maker explaining why. https://docs.google.com/viewer?url=...er%20Simulators%20Does%20Not%20Work.pdf&pli=1

I always liked the Mustang, but it doesnt take rocket science to work out that it isnt an F1 car ^^. Looking more into the NTM not being that great shhiny48, the NTM forums are full of people, some who like it and some who don't. I saw a certain pro level driver who said he was going to quit because he thinks it is that bad. I think that was a bit of an overly dramatic outlook but atleast i'm not alone in thinking that the NTM isnt that great, and perhaps i'm not weird for thinking that the cars do not behave like the real thing.

Like I said, I still like it but they made out the NTM was going to be something special but it appears they have released it in a fairly gimped state. I'm also not the only person who thinks that the NetKar Pro tyre model is still better.

When it comes to such a high price and exclusive simulator like iRacing you have to be picky, when you're paying the money and expecting the best. Just because i criticize it, it doesn't mean I dont like it.

Actually there is. Even if we can´t simulate it properly there are still forces on the wheel that should match the real life car.

iRacing has recommended settings for a reason.

You're wrong, the recommended settings are simply guidelines just like the premade setups (some of which are terrible) for cars, read the article above and come back to me. The forces on the wheel are nothing like the car, driving in a sim never feels anything like driving in a car.

A lot of the reason people hate the NTM is because they can't drive there favorite cars at ridiculous slip angles anymore.

on another note... McLaren MP4-12c GT3 announced for 2012!
