No, I'm pretty careful not to divebomb. I usually don't even try to outbrake someone for the inside line. I do have voice on and spotter on, but I don't have a mic.

Divebombing only really bothers me if it is at the start of a race since there is so much going on in the first lap or two. Near the end of a race it should be expected if you and another car are running bumper to bumper! imho, ymmv

Cool! yeah, the chatter can get pretty crazy sometimes.

I spend most of my time in the Skip Barber races and everyone is quite good so far about not abusing the chat feature during the race.

Anyone race with the ISRA? I love their multi-class setup, thinking about joining, but wanted to see if anyone else here raced with them.

the ISRA League is a great group of guys who run a very professional but fun set of events. The have their own rule book, pre-race driver meeting on track before qualifying, in-race officials who monitor incidents and issue penalties when appropriate. With all that said, everybody is very courteous with each other and the driving standards are very high from a safety perspective, and there is a good range of speed.

They get 40 to 50 to 60 cars on the grid EVERY week for the Monday night (US time) races. Bottom line is that their races are fun and they are very welcoming to new racers.

Here is the broadcast of the endurance race from a couple weeks ago. Just search "iRacing ISRA" on YouTube and you will see plenty of videos.

I just jumped into the iracing world got a 1 month trial just to get used to things and if I like it ill get a 3 month subcription.

This question might sound silly, but what does a "fixed" even mean?

This means fixed setup. That is you use the baseline setup created by iRacing and cannot change suspension settings e.g. springs, dampers, gears etc. Setup in iRacing can get complicated :)

Cheers, that is what I thought, but I was wondering if there were no tire degradation and fuel consumption as well. I have another question; can you compete in two events at the same time? When looking at the different series, some of them say "Eligible: Series Selected" in green while other say "Eligible: Select Series" in yellow. Does this mean I need to finish a season in the selected series before I can compete in other series, do I loose points if I change series mid-season?

Green means you can enter all races in the series, yellow means you can compete in some of the races, but you need to download additional content in order to take part in all events.

You won't lose points or anything if you switch mid-season. However, if you do not complete 8/12 weeks out of a normal season than you will not get the payout. For Class C/Class D the payout is just $4. Class B/Class A payout is $7. The max is $10. So if you do two different 'series' you can earn $10 per season

Not a whole lot of iRacing dollars but it adds up over time. You can earn up to $40 a year.

Maybe you knew this not sure (fps_christian)

Whats annoying me is my pc wont download the 298mb software everytime it finishes its says "This program is not commonly downloaded and could harm your computer". The actions it gives me are, Don't run this program, Delete program, Run away (that one I laugh it ).

So I have no idea what to do, if anyone could help me with this it would be much appreciated.

Yes, in fact I was aware of this, but no harm in mentioning it. There are possibly other people who now know because of you :)

I was just wondering if I still get the payout even though I choose to compete in a Class D event and a Rookie series in the same season, switching between races.

Edit: Another question; is it possible to report players? I just ran a race with 2 players who deliberately rammed into me and some other players, does reporting them do any good or should I just leave it?

So, we are getting a Cadillac CTSV-R, the Lotus, the new Dallara and a bunch of other cool stuff! But...what happened to the Mclaren??

@Jav: Yeah, I watched that last night and thought the same thing!

The 'Team' addition looks very cool though... 24 hour races shared among a bunch of us would be awesome. :)

Oh man that'd be so awesome! It would work out perfect for us since we have people scatered trough many time zones!

24 Hour Races? That's it, I'm getting ten subscriptions right now!

Now that sounds very interesting! I would love to take part in a 24 Hour race. That's been my dream! Especially with a multi-class setup like iRacing has.

bummer! What OS are your running? I am definitely no expert with computers but is the DL being blocked by your AV software? maybe you can turn off the AV software and see if you can download and install the files?

good luck!

Oh, I saw a post somewhere in the iracing forums by one of the iracing team members and he mentioned a delay in the mclaren - something about the company that sent them the car data files sent them in the wrong format(?). I do not know if he stated anything about the length of the delay.

I'm assuming the "Run Away" is actually, "Run Anyway"?

As far as the video is concerned: the team feature looks amazing, the Lotus 49, of course amazing, and the CTS-V-R-X-VV-LGA...

I got to see them running at infineon - if they can get the sound anywhere near close they will be awesome. At first I was a little dismissive of a Caddy racecar, but after the first fast lap and hearing it pass by, I was a true believer. It has one of the rude and scariest sounds I have ever head from a car.

Nope its literally run away ive turned off the AV to try get it to download it. Also whats OS?

If it doesnt work this time maybe ill have to give up until I get a new computer :(.

OS is operating system. i.e. Windows XP, Vista, 7 etc.

If it says Run Away, then is must be a 3rd party program like an AV product or something. Windows itself will never say something like that.

download the file again, try to open it, once it gives you the error message, take a screenshot. how to screenshot: press PrtSc button on your keyboard -> START- accessories- go to "paint" - click paste - then save the file in a .jpg format and upload it into this forum via http://imageshack.us/

At first i thought you might be using an Apple macbook or iMac ... but strange that you're having issues with vista... I can only recommend to use Windows XP or Windows 7!

You sure they rammed ya on purpose huh? Was it a rookie race? They probably wont do anything at all but doesnt hurt to try if you got a vid / replay, etc

That was an awesome TV clip. Very stoked for those cars 👍

I like how they did a feature on the sim racers like the guy that won Indy & Ray, etc. Very awesome work

I'm looking forward to trying out that Lotus 49 perhaps although it sounds like it's probably way too difficult for me. I rather love this HPD ARX for having the downforce, etc on my side. Very easy for me to remain consistent in races :dopey:

That Lotus 49 looks like a super hard Skippy car thats intended to put hair on your chest! :scared:

Ah thanks for writing this post. Was not too keen on a Caddy racer. But your post has me interested in the car now. I wonder what series the car will pop in at?

I managed to bypass it and download it, now next problem sorry (Atleast I think it is) Everytime I try to update the new cars it closes the window when I press update and does nothing.

Just signed up for my membership.

I got a g27 from my wife for xmas. I've never had a wheel for any racing game.

I'm very excited to try this.

Downloading updates now. :)

Welcome to iRacing! Just take it slow, you have a steep learning curve ahead of yourself. enter a lot of practice sessions before you enter a race. Make sure you get comfortable with the wheel, that's gonna take the longest to get used to. A few hours should be enough, so put some time in and enjoy it!

Thanks I figured i'd spend a lot of time on test tracks.

I have a few questions about wheel setup.

Should I be using h shifter or paddle shifters?

Should I use the cluch? It seems to shift without it, it just revs for a second.

Anything else I should know?

This is an entire new experience since I've only ever used automatic + controller lol.

> Should I be using h shifter or paddle shifters?

Personal preference and it depends on how good you are. Try both and see how you feel about it.

> Should I use the cluch? It seems to shift without it, it just revs for a second.

Auto-blip is set by default, so the clutch is automatic and it will blip the throttle when you downshift. You can change it in the options section once you start a test or race session. Using manual clutch is slightly faster than auto, but it is personal preference.

> Anything else I should know?

The only thing to know is to NOT join a race until you are ready and confident about what you are doing. Kn ow the flags, know how to get into and out of the pits, know the track and car. Wrecking yourself is a lot more serious than GT5 and wrecking others is seriously bad form.

Good luck :)
