I want to practice and not going to do freebies. Premier series would probably be the only place I race in any Grand Am car next season.. newbies in Mustangs kills me so Class C Grand Am I'm pretty much done with. But I hope the Honda HSV 010 is done by then and I say bye bye to the entire Grand Am. And if anyone wonder, yes I had a race where I had to dodge Mustangs like I was in a Rookie race.. and got wrecked 2 laps before the end... Good thing its a sim or I think he would be dead :scared:

anyone kind enough to create a paint for my grand am premier debute at lime rock this weekend:dopey:?

By that, I'm assuming you mean the DP? I could if you want, just tell me what you want.

oh yea .. the normall series is weird.. the mustangs are all over the place there, one minute their going right before the corner so you can take em from outside and next thingu know their on your side pushing u off track:scared:

but lime rock is pretty annoying till now .. cant seem to get the 45's :ouch: car tuning here is much more difficult than gt5 but hey trying my best :D

I didn't create it but it's the first time I actually did something with the skin, namely putting that L+ logo near the rear and my name above the door. And that took me a long while of trial and error until I got it the way I wanted.

New paint, Mazda MX-5 cup. The design is loosely based off of Edoardo Mortara's DTM livery. Instead of having "Audisport Performance Cars" on the side, I put "Mazdaspeed performance cars". Tried to do the red/grey/black transition spikes on the rear quarter, but that was way too hard, and all my efforts looked terrible. I'm still learning as I go along though, so my paints will probably start to get more detailed.

Virginia International Raceway is the race of the week in Grand Am and I couldn't care less to race, and to be honest I wouldn't risk everyone's race by being part of it. I just don't feel confident and every time I try to learn it I can feel the smell of manure through the screen.. I just really hate that track.. But a week of none racing and very little practice made me open up Photoshop to play around with my car, been working on a few without really get the feel for it so I started from scratch on my Cisco Riley

:scared:

Now let's see if I like VIR better next season. a lot of people like it so much so it will clearly be in next season as well.. All I think about is manure and I look around for cows all the time..

Me Like  Good work Erik :) I am just to lazy to be busy whit how the painting stuff works :)

I did VIR once whit almost no practise in the Mustang. i just drove around at the back to not hurt someone elses race. its not my track either. But i would give it a go on sunday whit the DP. :odd:

I usually don't like American tracks(there are exceptions). Its like "here is space" lets make a road were wherever we can. Japanese tracks are like "here is space" lets design a circuit. I like thats better.

Nice paint, I like the Playboy Bunny concept. If you have Photoshop I would be tempted to add some shine to the matt black Finnish, but of course a lot comes down to personal preference.

You cannot turn off the shiny surface, but you can forget to change your graphics settings before you take a screenshot. Low graphics settings will do that to the surface of the cars.

I'm tryin to make my first scheme and well... it's tough. It's based off of a standard scheme for the legend. I have a couple questions, first is how do I make it so it's not so pixelated? and second is it possible to flip my right side over to match my left side? I'm using gimp because PSE8 is too difficult.

Here's what I have so far, I'm going for a Griot's Garage Legend
iRacingSim2012-10-1322-56-47-12.jpg

Also notice on my left side there is red separating my white pinstripe and the gray (it's one pixel wide should it be 2 and cover my corners of pixels too), and it's not there in the template, I have very little idea of what I'm doing just an idea of what I want it to look like
and My left side still has green from the template and it's a pain in the but to color it out 1 pixel at a time
Any sort of help would be really nice:tup:

Edit: took out pic in shadow

Eventually I'll add the logo
I've made a few changes since then, I've gone to a double red top stripe, which may or may not stay, and the white pinstripe that wasn't even half done may or may not go.
But I still don't understand why it's so pixelated?

Yeah, i think you are making it more difficult than it needs to be. :) Have you seen the RGB/standard pattern tutorial in the general painting forum? Also, when you are using the exact same pattern on two sides you can indeed just copy and flip it over, there is no need to do that twice. Just remember not to merge with logos, since you will need to 180 degree the logos while the pattern wil be flipped vertically.

I'm saving logos for last, and I've read the tutorial but it's been awhile since I have, I should probably reread it. It's just that I don't know how to flip it over, since this my first real project in gimp.

It's pixelated because you didn't anti aliased it, I never used the template to do my graphics, so I'm not sure how to "fix" it, but the template you use wouldn't be to much work to copy with the pen tool.

The fun part begins when you work over different parts of the car to make it look the way you really wanted it to look

Here is a example of the Riley I posted a page back (yes it's slightly modified since the picture was taken)

Everything in the picture is made by myself, even the logo's are made, of course it's a copy of the original, but to make them stand out it should really be as simple as possible. And of course be anti aliased as the cars in iRacing have rather low resolution (1024x1024)

With low res, the best way to make things look sharp is to anti aliase it.

Hope you fix it! I could of course take a look at it, but the fun is in the making and the fact that you have your own made paint so good luck with it.

it's pretty much done, I just have to anti alias it since I didnt have time tonight. I wasted several hrs trying to get the racing stripes to line up and the back one was always a half pixel off and just noticeable, so I deleted it and I think it looks better simple and clean.

I think I might move the side GTP decals to the front with the rest of the decals since they're behind the bars
Edit: I just noticed I forgot my Semi-pro 'S' logo on the left fender and one of the GTP logos is upside down:dunce:
