The decal stamps are in the template just as information to you, iRacing will stamp it on in the game. So those are not removable.

You see when you save it they are gone anyway, because you turn off the decal layer, they still appear when you load up the sim.

Decals you can change the color on can be removed though. (if they exist on that car)

On a roll now . After making the Arrows, I decided I couldn't just stop there if I'm racing the Lotus 79 too, so I went and made another paint.

This time this is based on the Benetton B188:

I was basically wondering what I could do to give the Lotus a nice paint, saw that a lot of people had already done classic era liveries (McLarens, Ferraris, Brabhams, Williams, etc) so I decided to do one thats a bit later and one that I remembered from when I was younger.
I used to always flick through an old Scalextric magazine from about 1992 and one of the F1 cars that you could buy was this one. I never had it, I had the Williams FW10 and Lotus 98T. But this car stuck in my memory because of its in-your-face colour scheme and the Benetton logo on the front.
Nice job. I'm running the L79 too this season, feel free to add me on your friends list, maybe we can race together. The name is Felipe Andre. :)

BTW, I also use a Benetton livery. Berger's 1986 Benetton.

Edit: You can see it on this video I've made:

Cheers and yeah sure, I'll send you an add. Judging by that video though, I think you're going to be way ahead of me - I'm still struggling around the 1'16s at Road Atlanta. I've been around 1-2 seconds off the fastest guys in the other cars, but with this car I'm really struggling to find more pace.
I really need to nail some more practice, work on my setups and generally just try to drive a bit more relaxed. I find I'm not practicing as much due to the days being limited (and real work being hard!) and it really hurts a lot in this car. Consequently I'm over-driving it trying to find pace I'm missing from lack of practice.

Yeah, the Lotus is really different from the other cars on iRacing. Bear in mind this lap time was done with an empty fuel tank and this makes a lot of difference with this car.

Also, make sure to grab some setups on the forum, some people more experienced with the car always share them there, and they're faster than the baselines.

Other than that, the L79 is all about throttle control under braking IMO. If you're a right foot braker you're in trouble because the rear goes wild unless you put some gas under braking.

Yeah fortunately I can do both left and right foot braking, unfortunately I tend to avoid hitting the brakes and the throttle at the same time. So yeah I can definitely agree with the handful of a car when braking!
I had to crank the bias all the way back actually to 50% to even begin to control the car on the brakes.

Will definitely have a go at giving it some throttle next time I drive it. 👍

All done with my Elliott paint job, this was definitely fun to make and now that i have some experience im sure ill make more schemes in the future. For now im loving this one.

Two very nice Mustangs, I like the simplicity of both, makes them look real. But I guess since they are theme "copies" that explains it ;)

Good job both of you ;)

I think I would move the circle you have the number in behind the standard number plate to make it look like a circle would give a better result on the blue one. Two number plates on each side ruins it a bit. But that could be just me.

Ya, I thought about that but the decal square would go over the circle. The iRacing decals just kind of ruin it. The decals cover where the Boss 302 logos would've gone so I put them on the wing plates and over the FR500S logo, I wish that they were all paintable :sly:.

I saw a really cool Boss 302 hood logo that somebody had made for a decal on The Mustang Source forum that would've looked cool but there's nothing on the original's hood so I left it out.

So i've had a really good look over the internet and I can't really find any good tips on painting in iRacing.

I heard something about anti-aliasing or something but could someone explain a couple of must-do's?

I know photoshop well just need some tips please. ;)

Thanks!

So I am having problems with making the outlines of my liveries smooth. I started the whole anti-alaising thing but it seems a very lengthy process...

Are there any other things I should know other than that when making the lines smoother?

Can you post a pic of what you're talking about? Would like to see how do you make your lines.

Well, in Photoshop, I am just drawing my liveries, but I heard to make the lines look smoother, you have to use anti-aliasing.

I cannot post a picture as I haven't got access to anything iRacing related where I am right now unfortunatly.

For example, a circle that has rough lines, to smoothen it out, you have to go through the anti-aliasing steps.

What are these steps?

Mostly done with my new mustang paint now.

Stil havent found a sponsor though. If anyone got some good tips on what would fit please go ahead ^^

I might remove the flag. Not sure yet. Just thought it might be taking a bit to much attention.

Sorry I took so long to answer. All my posts were made on my smartphone and it begin running low on power so I had to turn it off while I was out.

Yep, Anti-Aliasing does wonders for smoothing out lines. Its not quite hard though as there's actually a checkbox in photoshop where you check "Anti-Alias". I don't know if you already done that (or if you have CS5 as thats what I use and see it), but try it and see if that helps.

Sticking with the color scheme, Parnelli Jones had something similar, but being another '69 trans am car there was no hood sponsor just a stripe, I don't know if that helps or not

Edit: better yet maybe check out the shelby Terlingua mustangs, there's a '60s and an '05 version out there, just throwin out ideas that are yellow and black

Love that scheme Tyragus, reminds me of an old trans-am racer. The flag should stay in my opinion, its a nice "personal" touch.

Thanks alot for tips and comments :)

Just noticed I hadent fixed the door handle colour xD

Im Thinking about having the theme of a hockey team or something simmilare on the car.

Now its done ^^ Might add some sponsors or something in that direction later.

Added carbon fibre spoiler and painted the door handles black :P
