I'll be honest, I don't care. Or should I say : I don't care anymore?

Sure those standard models are for the most part ugly, outdated, bland and without a cockpit view... but O WELL, I prefer to have them than not.

IMO, there is more important problems.

- We need an exciting single player experience.
- Where are the new everyday cars, that we've been missing on since GT2?
- Atrocious sounds.
- No Hood view
- Abysmal AI
- and where in the freaking hell is the course maker???

But guess what folks? All those issues are NOT going to be resolved. GT series - along with that FIA partnership and the fact that we've been asking for those changes since the Middle-Age is proving that

A) Kaz do not care about us
B) GT series is becoming more and more a tool for the industry rather than a game
C) GT series is likely to continue to go downhill in term of sales

I think the reason I love gt6 is because I don't have the same problems as others,
Ai and single player don't affect me.
I literally get months of joy out of just driving the cars I love in this game, it's truly magic.
And I like enjoying my cars with friends online as well.
This moethod I play gt and other driving games with is the reason gt7 is an immediate buy.

I could probably enjoy them for time trialling, except there's no system to manage times or be able to view times for specific cars, or classes, or be able to delete individual times, or view the setup of the car for a particular lap. Basically it is all so half-arsed.

PD's dedication to realism is being stretched to the limit by every element of the game - standard cars, crappy sounds, crappy AI, unrealistic races, no qualifying etc... etc...

GT series is turning into a poor simulation of a simulator.

Well, those who wouldn't buy the game because all of the standards would be ditched would eventualy come back to the series as the car count would gradually increase with time, but those who won't buy the game because the standards are in will never return to the series, as the damned standards would ever be there.

B) GT series is becoming more and more a tool for the industry rather than a game
This is it.

I wont post my full feelings on this, as I feel it would be wasted and glossed over by most.

But all I do have to say is that, this is the stupidest thing I have ever heard from PD. Bringing in PS2 assets into a PS3 games sure, but PS4? That's a huge divide. its just uncanny that they are willing to have black interior cars mixed with premiums when we have DB, Forza, The Crew and now GTAV with modeled interiors.

Just goes to show you that they care more about quantity than quality.

Well let's not go too far :scared:

The way I see it, there are not many people are really asking the impossible. But PD have their limitations, there is only so much they can do - they need greater resources, and for that they need a bigger budget. I would be happy to pay triple the amount for the game, if they tripled their staff levels.... PD could deliver 95% of what we want, IF they had the man hours and budget to do it.

At the end of the day I spend £450 on a wheel just for Gran Turismo, its ridiculous to draw the line for the game itself at a 10th of that!

Highlights
- likely a full game and not a Prologue
- sounds not likely to improve much until GT7
- Course Maker and B-spec in an imminent update (not a Kaz quote though)
- STANDARDS ARE HERE TO STAY!!

Polyphony Digital is at work on Gran Turismo 7, and it's likely that the standard cars whose heritage stretches back to the PlayStation 2 era are to stay for the PlayStation 4 sequel.

Speaking to Eurogamer at this year's Goodwood Festival, where Yamauchi has unveiled a number of new GT Vision cars as well as taking to the hill in a Nissan GTR Nismo, Yamauchi said work was under way. But it won't be out as early as 2014, as he optimistically stated last year.

"We are working on the title," said Yamauchi. "I don't think it'll make this year!"

Yamauchi also said Polyphony will go straight into development on the full game rather than working on a taster, as has been the case with recent iterations. "I don't think it'll be a Prologue," he said, confirming that the full Gran Turismo 7 was next on Polyphony's plate.

And what can we expect of the PlayStation 4 game? Polyphony has recently started its own blog where it's addressing concerns of its community, including the quality of the sound within the series which Yamauchi admits isn't up to scratch. It's still in the plan to update the audio in Gran Turismo 6 - as Yamauchi revealed to Eurogamer last September - but the full overhaul won't come until Gran Turismo 7.

"I think the quality of the sounds in Gran Turismo 6 will be improved, but most of the work will be done in Gran Turismo 7," said Yamauchi.

Gran Turismo 6 has enjoyed a suite of updates recently, with a selection of Ayrton Senna's cars being followed up by the inclusion of Austria's Red Bull Ring and the Toyota TS030 - all for free. The Course Maker and B-Spec modes, which are still absent from the game, are coming in an imminent update.

And when Gran Turismo 7 does come around, the standard car models that persist from 2004's Gran Turismo 4 will most likely feature.

"I doubt that we'll be throwing away the standard cars," said Yamauchi. "Each car has its own fans. So I think we'll hang on to the archive. In the meanwhile, some of those cars we may be able to make into Premium cars as they become available - but basically we're more focussed on increasing the number of premium cars."

I'll be waiting to see a few things before PD get my money.
- How big is the offline portion of the game. I couldn't give a hoot for online content
- how complete is the game when it's released
- how much has it advanced over GT6
and most importantly,
- how much improvement the AI has been given.

Not to be pedantic, but I would like to highlight that standard cars, bad AI, unrealistic races and no qualifying are not part of the 'driving' simulation.
Whereas the physics are top notch for console racers, defo the best since enthusia on ps2

and the award will be a 2D cardboard cut out of a 5' tall trophy painted with gold spray paint

I could buy a speaker dock for my iphone costing 1000 pounds.
Like your wheel, it would be amazing, but I don't think id want to pay more for my iphone all of a sudden lol

I was gutted when the Jensen Interceptor was one of a handful of cars that didn't make gt6. If they took all standards away because it's a choice between new premium models over upgrading standard models or obviously cutting them completely I'd be devastated. Obviously this is a selfish point of view as I drive wholly "classic" cam. I honestly flick to cockpit view and quickly have a gander and then flick straight back out. So I'll buy gt7 regardless, and like many a ps4 just because of gt.

The ONLY arguments I have about standard cars being in the game is:
1. Filtering by standard/premium when using the car search
2. AI racers will only use premium

That way those who don't like standard can effectively ignore them completely

Otherwise there are plenty of cars that I grew up with that I still love driving.

GT series image already have been damaged beyond repair.
No.
Kaz already done something. He creates the best human drama even Kaz himself got his mind blown.

(Remember, PD still have one redeeming quality and that is generosity. Yeah the slack is their big problem though)

PD is going to kill themselves if they include standard cars. Tolerate on the PS3, but absolutely unacceptable on the PS4. I'm out.

That's pretty much it for me. I hated standards in GT5, I could tolerate them in GT6. But its safe to say GT6 is officially the last GT game I will be purchasing. Not that we didn't see this coming. All of us already knew there was no way they would have enough time to convert 800+ standards to premium by the time GT7 came out. Oh well I still enjoy GT6, but this is just really it for me.

Judging by the poll seems that keeping them is the right choice, despite the rather vocal minority.

Wouldn't call that vocal minority. The poll will probably stay this way up until screens get released, but heck if you pit these standard cars against any racing game it doesn't matter which one they're going to look like crap.

Put these standard cars out of their misery it would be best for this franchise

Already bought this up in the Reddit thread, but I'll say it here too:

"I doubt that we'll be throwing away the standard cars," said Yamauchi. "Each car has its own fans. So I think we'll hang on to the archive."

Again, how is this total confirmation that they are in without question? At most, it implies they are being considered and the data from them are being kept, but its not automatically confirmed they are in 100%. I think people really need to stop jumping to conclusions, it never helps nor ends well and in this case, its gone horribly wrong.

But it literally is a vocal minority. People that are happy or indifferent about standards staying outnumber those that are disappointed by nearly four to one, despite the heavily biased and leading question used and answers provided.
