La Sarthe and Spa ,weather report and other " stuff "

McLaren F1 94
That car is really frustrating, feels too heavy .
Whatever i did wasn't enough to fix his behaviour, i try it stock , tuned , with and without aero but nothing really worked.
One run yesterday based on @Chikane_GTR suspension tuning and aero seems that work but am not pleased either.

IMG_20230924_202638348_HDR.jpg

My fastest lap wasn't a " clean " one since i got 0.5 sec penalty at the curve before heading to the pits .
Rain caught me out and i just crawl to the pits .
If someone have a decent set up i might try it again but not now .

Now i must " recover" from the 40 millions need to spend for McLaren and the today SL mercedes 🥴 .

THIS IS WHY I LOVE THIS TRACK...
Daily Race C....
When daily races come to LeMans I am so happy, I get to use my experience of grinding and racing in weather. I am using my alt account (C / S) and using my favorite grind cart, Mercedes AMG CLK.
I didn't qualify because I'm used to starting in the back (lol),
P13 start in the rain and I forgot to quickly change to IMs in the warmup, so I am on RMs and I believe all but one was also on the RMs too.
It was carnage on the first lap including me, I spun at the Mulsanne corner.
Somehow with my cautious driving I was in P2 at the end of lap 1. Four others had quit before they completed the first lap, and others were skating in the chicanes.
At the end of lap one the rain was letting up but it was stage 2 accumulation. Because the rain was going away I chose to stay out on the RM tyres.
Lap 2 was slow but steady and rain accumulation dropped down to stage 1 and speeds were picking up and more others quit the race.
Lap 3 I was in P4 and halfway around I caught up to P3 when he just disappeared in front of me, leaving me in P3.
Laps 4-5 Track was dry with no accumulation and I stayed where I was and finished in P3, not bad gained 10 positions.

Yesterday i run McLaren " Fina " from BMW.
Very good handling car with great fuel economy.
4laps at FM1 and 6 laps at FM6 .
I test it at FM1 .

Lap 1-2 was sunny and try and allow me to hunt the best possible lap.
Lap 3 start bringing some rain showers but didn't know what was coming and went at the pits to change tyres and refuel .
Lap 4 reveals a very heavy rain .
Lap 5 still very wet track but instead of start drying out , a second bunch of rain showers came during the end and at start of lap 6 and that was the end .
Overall very good car , a bit on the twitchy side but nothing serious about it.
Can run easy at 4.10 territory and get the job done.
Unfortunately runs at very low hp but thats what it is .
Still is very pleasant during the last part after the Porsche bridge.
I miss to shoot the set up but ill edit post at noon.

i like this F1 at lemans, did 8 laps on 1 stop.

Wow 8 laps, something I have not accomplished in this race...

Why are you saying that ? Its very easy to do 8 laps on a dry track at lemans .
You just need a car a bit fast and with 4 laps on fuel at whatever FM .
It just that ( almost) nobody want to do an extra lap and finish a 30 minutes race way after .
I guess the majority of the cars that can lap under 4.10 with one stop ,can achieve that .

Yup I did a 8 lap race once and I could had done alot more but I already hate having to do 7 laps which is why I always pray for heavy rain to slow down the AI enough for just a 6 lap race. 👍

It's not a " bad " car anyway, just can't find " rhythm " when am pushing it and feels too heavy .
Of course since i use almost only AT gears is inevitable to be able to save fuel.
First time i ride it , i thought that he was able to " bust " the 4 minute barrier on FM6 but i never did it .
I never find a way to set it to my liking.
And my liking is that i prefer the front end nailed and sharp and deal only with the rear .
Also i love cars that can go flat out after the Porsche bridge ,all the way to the section that lead at the pits.
Fina McLaren can do that and its great feeling.

The only car that i drive at lemans with manual gears is the Aston VGT that has more than 10 seconds!!!! faster laps from AT .
You only need to use 3 gears but has a terrible behaviour , it just runs like hell due to huge top end and its able to " load " speed even with the top gear in the gear box.

@jrbabbitt i was " about " right for the 8 laps.
Here is my today run with my 908 Fap on intermediate tyres , FM1 ,one stop .
Of course i drive the wheels out of that thing at i was lucky to catch the timer on the very last second.
So every car lapping under 4.10 in dry conditions and does one stop , definitely can do 8 laps without a doubt 😉 .

Overall the Vette was faster but both can use some better tunes. 👍

I guess I drive a lot more conservatively than all of the others here, oh well i will have to give it a try but regardless i get it done with 7 laps..:scared:

Wow 8 laps, something I have not accomplished in this race...
I always try to push every car to 8 laps to more challenge to this race, driving fast while saving fuel at the same time.
very easy to do with gr B cars.
Can you post the setup for this even at FM6 i cant get more then 3 laps? maybe I'm using to much HP at 605hp
will check my setup, but it's very simple, as far as i remember, no suspension, no brake, racing transmission lengthen it so you'll always at lower rpm, reduce power limiter not ecu.

must be on M/T to save fuel, similar to DP-100

i think 1 stop is faster.

2 stops, non engine swap
View attachment 1290519

One stop is definitely faster than two .
Its a very nice way you choose to run .
Being fast and saving fuel at the same time , unfortunately is out of my league such a race since i never had it with manual shifts.
I only use to shift manual when rain caught me out on wrong tyres 😂 .

@jrbabbitt don't feel guilty because you're more conservative.
Especially when it's about griding, anyone do it as he pleaded.
The real measure on this ( and every other race i guess) is run it at hard difficulty.
But that's something i use very rare since i want to do the job done in most of the cases.
I prefer to wait at finish straight than do an extra lap which is the 7th one .
Those two samples above was for the first time to find out what times needed for 8 laps.
What is impossible is to do 8 laps within the 30 minutes mark .

Question what's everyone's favorite overall car for this race? Like the 1 car you always come back to and its still your favorite for this race.

My is the McLaren F1 GTR 95 I made a better setup for it and now it handles better and can reach 180mph down the main straight on FM5.

Its my favorite Version of the F1.

My favourite car " overall " is the Nissan R92CP period 😁 .
I can do whatever i want with it ,run 4 laps or 7 laps .
As for a road car , didn't find something that fit my preferences yet.
Yesterday i run one Aston Martin, didn't remember what now but ohhh boy , that thing was so thirsty for fuel that was able to pull out only one lap at FM1 😂
Get in the pits at second lap ( i use FM6 at the beginning ) choose manual gears and short shifting with the ears 🤣 .
Didn't even wait to see the red line coming up in order to save a third pitstop.

I don't know if you notice, but we have some changes when the car is out and the game put you back inside.
There's a label running for 3 seconds and then automatically remove the car back on the track with some delay to start again.

Since the update happens, its time for the month report.

So till yesterday we have the following.

Dry races without a bit or rain =. 55

Races with light rain at some period. = 38

Races with rain and tyre change needed. =. 51

Races with very heavy rain. =. 22

Races with sudden rain at lap 5 or 6. =. 3

Some races with rain had two waves of rain .
Usually at the end of second lap or early third and when the map was at a dry stage a second period of rain ( usually heavier than first one) follow at 5th lap most of the times.

At heavy rain with the blue mark on top , the indicator never went at high levels , was always a little above the 3rd line .

Other that notice, was that sometimes the radar was full of yellow spots but the rain hits the track was normal .

All in all the lighter side of weather forecast prevails again over the " bad " weather.

Next report after the next update .

How dare you insult my magnificent F1 '97! I'll report you to my MP and I'll tell Kaz on you.

I thought this was a bit odd, I did my daily grind workout after the update & somehow finished with 50.4 miles. Usually it's 53.x miles.

Yesterday i was try to find a road car that can do a lap close to 4 minutes or under .
I tried mercedes McLaren, la ferrari and Viper gts 13 .
All cars are " killed " by their fuel consumption, none of them can do 3 laps at FM6 without coasting or MT short shifting.
I even try cayman swapped but the same result 🥴
I didn't try any Godzilla gtr yet but am running out of options.
If there is any proposal, ill be glad to try it , my verdict till now is that all European cars are fuel " eaters " .
Some, are able for only one lap at FM1 🤣
