Little things you'd like to see in GT5

A few more changes:
9.Actual fully working taillights. When you back up, the back-up lights should come on (this is supposed to be a simulation right?) and if theres an extra button on the new controller, actual working turn signals (just for fun, especially if you leave it on the whole race)
10.Maybe a horn for that A.I. that cuts you off! Also, copying NFS Hot Pursuit 2, have the high-beams come on when the horn is blown!
11.Two Player Drag Races (in the online photos there was one with two Cudas' racing at the Las Vegas dragstrip)
12.Lose the carwash unless they let the cars get dirty
13.Be able to compare cars in 2-player, kind of like GT3
14.Be able to buy real brand-name tires with different tread patterns. Also, dont automatically put sport tires on vehicles when they are bought. Some look stupid with them.
Ill think of more later.

How about the one thing people havn't mentioned!

POS lights!!!!

The one thing forza had that GT didn't..

Position lights that worked.....

That would make it seem pretty authentic to me.

It'd be cool to have REAL LIFE scenario's. Maybe bugs hitting window's, or your tire falls off cause one of the pit men were being Arsehole's haha. Um, what else. A better car lot garage. Something where you can look for the year, car type, how many miles, as if you were looking for a used car on the internet. It would be awesome if when you win a race, if there would be some hot chick giving you trophie on the podium if you came in first place!! :D I think it'd be cool if you don't have to buy another DFP kind of wheel for the ps3...And you can use that in ps3 and gt5. Another cool thing would be, having a bigger variety of exterior / motor/ interior / suspension mods. Choose from real companies like Buddy Club, APEXi, Stuff like that. Put Body kits some times, for D1 kind of look if you drift ( like me ) Change the paint on the car. I found so many cars that I like, but the paint is ridiculous. More variety of rims, and that the spoiler's wouldn't quite be higher than the roof line...I think it gives that "ricer" look, A corny look. That's all I can think of at this time.

christ, lots of pages lol.

as for the body damage should be like this f1 game i have (havent played in a while forgot the name). choice to either, full damage (visual/performance), performance only, or none.

I already stated that we need more event races in GT5, compared to GT4. There wasn't a lot of event races in GT4 for my tastes. I would also like to see the return of HP limited races.

Of course this means several things. One, PD need to make GT5 feature the same from the garage vehicle adjustment that GT4 had. That way we can adjust the level of our car's HP before entering the race. This feature was not needed in GT4, because there were no HP limited races, and they included a automatic tire change feature that would affix the correct type of tire for the race entered. This was a nice feature. And two, it limits the "Rabbit" car sydrome that was very annoying in GT4. And thirdly, PD would need to come up with a vehicle restrictor feature that would reduce the HP rating of your car. Air flow restrictors are used a lot to control the HP of cars, so why not feature them in the GT series?

How about GT300 race event series, with individual races, and a GT500 race series, like in GT2? That was an awesome racing event! Again, these are events of HP limited races, so that would fall under what I saying above. But, I was pointing out what event races HP limited evenst could be like. Or, how about GT1, GT2, LMP2 and LMP1 vehicle events? That sounds like great idea.

Advanced A.I. based on your driving style. in other words, how the A.I. reacts to your style of driving based on your performance, resulting in every game owner getting a realistic experience taylor made to everyone's individual style.

AI developed by COdemasters, a full on damage system (I won't say developed by Codemasters on this because we don't know how good PD are at this yet). 20+ car grids which seems a reality, when you turn traction control to 0, it's actually off, not just set to medium. Aero-kits for all the cars, turn your car into your own race car, every part would be functional and you could paint the car how oyu want and recieve offers from sponsors to put their name and logo on the car. Stricker regs for different races and plenty more races and series to take part in. Say a GT 2.0 road series with race spec cars limited to 2.0 engines and 320Bhp maximum only and classes like that.

I agree with the HP limit. In GT2 the HP limited races are what makes it so much fun. I used to take the 400+hp Celica GT-Four to race in the 600hp class, it was really fun. And another thing they should add back to GT5 is to show you opponents HP, that's a very useful info.

What would be easiest is if Polyphony Digital put out some sort of survey to see what everyone would like in the new game. That way they could compile them and figure out easier what they should and shouldn't put in.

thats a great idea. 👍 in fact, that or maybe they could put a focus group together too(which could be us members here at GTplanet.net).

I've read through a good percentage and some of them I never thought of but I agree with.

  1. I'd like to see is a more real sense of owning a race team.
    • They already have a system where you buy cars and upgrades with the credits you get, but I'm talking paying a pit crew, then paying for each tire you actually use, not just pay $22k for a set of racing medium tires and you get an unlimited supply of them.
    • Maybe also enforce the idea of a 365-day calendar where races are only held on certain times of the year. You can go into the schedule of races for the next year and check off races you want to attend and it alerts you.
  2. I'd also like someone to fix it so that when gasoline is put into the car, no other work is being done on the car and the car is still running like it does in GT4. In real life, when the gas is being poured in, the car is already off and no work is being done and I want GT5 to behave the same.
  3. Damage with requiring me to pay for repairs.
  4. On the rally courses where they have the orange plastic fences, I'd rather plow into them and be disqualified than me hit them and bounce off as if they're some impenetrable wall and be penalized or whatnot. This includes the possibility of falling off cliffs on stages causing the car to be possibly totalled and therefore be erased from my garage.
I also like other ideas about driving to the dealership and test driving the car before purchasing.

I'll think of more later.

A crazy idea, but is still interesting, is if you could have a trailer attached to your vehicle and race with it! You could even buy one like you would a car!

Now that would be hardcore but very real, have cars that you demolished and maybe spents hours and hours perfecting be deleted from your garage.

i think gt5 should have the following:

-variable (or random) weather conditions at each track
-time of day changing in enduro's
-car handling different according to fuel (eg. more fuel - heavier and slower)
-far far more intelligent AI
-off racing line to be slippery, making it harder to overtake
-pit radio via headset (not a must, but would be cool)
-easier to lock brakes
-locking of brakes creating far more realistic understeer (and flat spotting tyre)
-engine wear - and the ability to blow an engine (even if it means you just coast back to the pits, the same as running out of fuel is currently)
-car tuning more advanced - painting cars (as in forza on x-box)
-when buying parts from tuning centres, you receive a sticker on your car to promote them (eg. buy an HKS turbo and you get an HKS logo to place on your car)
-as opposed to just buying tyres - sign a contract with a supplier for a year (or so)
-damage - even if not visible, just to create worse handling etc.
-races only available on certain days - eg. sunday cup races on a sunday
-flags incase of a vehicle spinning ahead etc.
-less responsive handling - they're too toyish atm.
-driver name on car (and countries flag)
-driver number on car (depending on what position you came the last time in that championship)
-b-spec training - eg. licence tests etc.
-practice and qualifying sessions for each race (time limited to 1-hour)

... i could go on and on, but i think that's enough for now :sly:

I'd love an interior view. Could they implement that on PS3? And maybe a viewing gallery for your cars, so you could appreciate it inside and out

i think that would be kinda difficult, cause each car is different, and it would have to change depending on the level of weight reduction each time... so work out who many pixels it would take (on average) for each car, then times that by 3, and again buy how many cars, say 700+... that's alot of data, they'd need to sell a hard-drive with the game so it could extract and save the data... but it would be a nice thought

Sorry if this was mentioned before but I want to toss a few pennies before bed. As usual there are some fantastic ideas here, and PD really needs to have a few people sort through these threads and work many of these ideas into the upcoming games. Anyway:

- Streamline the selections and menus so there are fewer button presses! Jeepers.

- Crowds react to amazing passes and collisions.

- NO duplicate cars in races: same car make, paint job, number, etc.

- Sponsors and mod kits reflected in your cars.
What I mean specifically is - and this goes along with my Career Mode idea, when you add pro parts to your car, and I think someone mentioned this already, you get their sticker logos put on your car. When you enter a pro circuit, you either canvass for sponsors, they recruit you, or the game assigns a roster of sponsors to you to fund your racing activities. Your cars have a paint job scheme reflected in all the pro cars you own. Your pro racing cars are also assigned numbers. In Career Mode, you don't win cars, you win cash purses, and along with your sponsors, you build up the funds to buy generic/used pro race cars, buy stock cars to modify or whatever, that get painted to your team racing color scheme, and your sponsor's logos, your car number gets painted on with it. PD can surely provide a library of cool pro quality paint schemes to choose from.

- Big wins and/or a hugely successful career - being in the top 5 every race - should net you big bonuses from your sponsors, as well as being recruited by even bigger named sponsors. Sponsorships should be the big prize in winning races in Career Mode, like winning big expensive pro racecars in the previous GTs.

 I would like to see modifications for drag racing and drifting so you can make your own drag/drift car... and i want manual burnout and staging in a drag race mod!

Some small things I would really like are:

Optional Tuning. Not all the pre-set options they have.
Realistic Paint Jobs. Example you could change a GT40's paintjob to make it look like a car that raced in Le Mans in whatever year.
A bit of an upgrade on the home system.

-water spray liek on clubman special stage 11 i tihnk, on gt3? there was water outside, then when you go into the tunnel, nothing gets dragged inside.
-real smoke, smoke that lingeres like a bad fart lol.
-real louder engine noises, i wanna hear a v8 lump over at 800 rpm not some rice box humm along.
-top mount blowers like the 6/71's. some some bolt on side **** in a tin thing.
-different mag sizes
-different exhaust to emphasize your cars engine
-tinted windows
-paint jobs where you do it all yourself, sand/bog/primer/paint.
-changing engines, gbox's, diff's where you all do it yourself or get the mech to but for extra money.

and yeah. bout it.

I liked all your wishes exept the last one (changing engines) that would be to unrealistic (to much) better to allow you to rebuild standard engines... and every tuning that is vissible irl should be vissible in the game, like when you put on the racing exhaust you will see the difference! chose size on the wheels and tires would be cool to, or maybe not, it should depend on what size the tires/wheels are avalible in...

Id like to see road temperatures, tyre pressures, road angles (camber etc) actually taking an affect on the car and its performance. Realistic oil degradation, turbo lag, cockpit view.
Maybe things taking effect on the driver, like if you do lots of races continuously then your driver gets tired and the screen gradually becomes blurry or sleepy therefore something like B spec would actually be handy, driver injuries after accidents and such as well as race ending crashes. Being able to intimidate the AI would be great by driving closely behind them but with the same being done too you, if the AI intimidate you then heartbeats could be heard or something. Just all in all realism.

well, the screen would be filled with all these information but it would be cool, maybe little to much if the driver gets tired...

EDIT: the cockpit view is a must!!! :D

I agree with h82bu on all their ideas, especially the wheels and blowers. There are a lot of sweet wheels, but on some cars the only wheels that look good are stock rims because the stock size is too small for the other wheels. For example: On the Chevelle, the stock rims look awesome, but when other rims are put on, the sidewalls make them look tiny. This is because the stock size was only 14". Changing the size would be more realistic. Also with the blowers, those would be awesome to see coming out from the hood! For the exhaust, id like it to be like Midnight Club III where you can change the style, like on muscle cars you can have rear exhaust or side pipes.

How about both, engine transplants and re-builds. Many race cars use different engines to the road versions, look at the Super GT skylines, some of them race with V8's, a few WRC and BTCC cars don't use that cars original engine, theres some older Euro tourers that were family saloons but had the engines ripped out and V8's dropped in. Engien swaps are in no way unrealistic, they happen all the time in the world of motorsport.

I think you mean supras. Skylines never used V8s only six cylinders. And Skylines stopped competing in 2003, a full season before JGTC became SuperGT.

Anyway, My idea is an custom engine creator mode to go along with the swap idea. Choosing the dispacement, cylinder amount and layout, compression, cams etc. youd be able to create a custom engine for the race car you are creating. Though Id only want to see a mode like this for racing modified cars (From GT1 and GT2). PD has expressed that they are aware that fans are asking for it back, though no word if they are planning to bring it back themselves. With race mods, and ad in Engine swaps/creator and drivetrain switches for the cars you modify to be race cars, you would be able to create your dream race car. I am only dreaming though.

A selection for Russian cars would be neat, the ability to put your convertible top up/down whenever you want, and the ability to open the hood and look at the engine.
