riots are taking place across the UK, with hundreds of shops house and cars being set on fire, windows smashed and thousand of places being looted and much more...which all started from the shooting of a man called Mark Duggan. thats the 'gist' of it...

just hope that my mum isnt going to work...shes right on the edge of town in B'ham

What is going on is disgusting, but it's localised. Its not going on in every financial centre on the planet.

Not my words. They belong to Max Keiser. Stock market expert turned whistle blower. Thats what all the "Sell your gold" & "We'll buy your phone" adverts are about, countries against the £ $ & € buying it up. There is an estimated 1kg of gold in 1ton of mobile phones.

Talking of sensationalism, I just had a quick peep at Sky News. Look out for the guy with a can of Special Brew on the front of some of the papers tomorrow. They made it sound like he was Beelzebub himself.

Couple of words used to describe what's going on, from the news & this thread seems real appropriate: a) opportunistic b) disgusting

If you are in position to influence kids & younger people, please teach them to be stand up, honorable people. When a event like this take place, let us be the people standing up to do the right thing. Let us be the people helping others. Not going around stealing or burning buildings & cars, just because the Police aren't stopping them.

These rioters are opportunistic tools, and they disgust me to no end.

You could just read the earlier pages in this very thread. I finally caught some on TV, also a story on Google News, but it's really hard to gauge the size of the Riot, other than it is pretty serious.

What's barbaric is these riots in what would be classified a civilised country, I can give more than 1 reason why the army is a simple solution,

1 What's happening isn't going to help with the economic recovery
2 The police seem poorly equipped for the situation
3 Police officers have been injured
4 To make an arrest an officer must get in close proximity to said miscreant
5 What's going to happen in the end, "If the arrests turn into convictions" they will be let out again and it could escalate

Tell me which is better a pill to soften the effects of an illness that keeps coming back or surgery to remove it completely. The rioters have started using guns so the solution to that is to bring bigger guns and people who know how to use them.

No, the authorities cant resort to a massacre to end it. Apart from the million other reasons, it would just add credance to what the louts are doing now.

I expect this to go on through the night and peter out at day break when everybody gets tired of causing havoc and carrying dvd players back home.

The police will get control back of the streets and the scale of carnage will then become even more apparent.

What do vet's do with animals that cant be cured/healed they put them down, Same goes for these hooligans, Breaking into shop after shop looting everything they can setting fire to cars, homes and businesses endangering innocent peoples lives and destroying their livelyhoods, This is already a serious problem that needs a radical solution to put an end to it we have all seen the damage that has already been caused.
