London and England riots

Best of luck guys. Haven't seen anything all day as I'm at work here. We just had our riot a couple months ago and I simply don't understand it.

Police will always be blamed for not doing enough, they were blamed here to although it was hardly their fault. It's there safety first and when then are outnumbered there isn't a damn thing they can do but defend the best they can. More likely local governments problem for not having protocols and plans in place for these sorts of events as was the real case here. Again best of luck and I hope everyone stays safe there.

Yes although what is happening is saddening, loss of life has been minimal on both sides (police and yobs), the only death I've heard of is a man shot in Leeds

That's a bit of silver lining. Any word on injuries and such? So far all I've read about is looting and other kinds of vandalism.

My comment that you quoted was really just placed to enlighten this rocko kid that his statement about an old man with a shotgun wouldn't do anything to help and that it does not work like that in the US at all. Getting residents involved in quelling a riot just sounds ridiculous to me. Who do you think is doing that rioting in the first place? Did the rioters just spring up from nowhere?

Let the professionals do what they've been trained for. If the police in the UK need any tips then they oughta call Daryl Gates - learn from the mistakes of others!

god forbid you would have to see something nasty going on.

There seem to be a few people who arent thinking about peoples feelings. I have someone who i care about a great deal who is one of the member of the police that are in the heart of it in london who are having to defend themselves let alone anything else so please people. bare in mind that this might be close ot the heart of a few member before coming out with flippant commets!!

Sorry to hear about that, but seriously dude. What crawled up your 🤬? I didn't mean any harm in that comment and you completely took it out of context.

I think he made it perfectly clear, what his concern was.

I love my city and more than that am genuinly worried about the person i care about as like i say she is in the heart of it. The same as i am sure others would feel if they had a loved on in the middle of it in a police uniform.

Wait, a riot started because someone was shot? I thank God that Detroiters don't have the same mentality or else we'd be burning this mother down daily. Granted we had race riots back in the 1960's.

I'm just curious what the deeper cause is behind the riots, we are getting very minimal news on it here in the states so it's all kind of foreign to me. Is there an underlying racial cause, or is it really just a bunch of people who had nothing to better to do so they picked an event and ran with it?
In Detroit, many murders happen daily and police are in bed with criminals, so the possibility of a officer shooting a gang member or someone related to a gang member is incredibly low. Detroit is already full of empty, burned down houses so even if their was a riot now in Detroit there wouldn't be much to destroy. I'm happy to say the amount of time I lived in Detroit was very short, fortunately.

I think this is one of those moments where it's better to just let it go and focus on the news as it's happening. Crack jokes about it later. 👍

I wasn't cracking a joke. That was a serious comment about being glad that this rioting didn't happen during my trip. Was not meant to be funny.

All those in London, hope the night passes without incident, and the streets get reclaimed and we can get back on with our normal lives and not scared to set foot on them because of these idiots.

ive heard that a police station is on fire in handsworth or somewhere begining with H....just get the army to sort these youth dem out!

A tiger is apparently free in London. First image is CCTV of rioters breaking into the Zoo, second is a mobile phone photo of the Tiger, I've seen another photo too but lost the link.

Looting is one thing, but why burn houses, businesses and other buildings and people's cars for no reason? I heard earlier on Sky News that someone told the reporter he is looting to get his taxes back but I'm sure the cost of insurance and stuff will be going up in their area as well as for many others. Hope no one gets killed and the people who are doing this get sorted out.

Oh no, that's terrible! Hopefully they can round up the tiger at least, before anyone gets hurt.

i dont know why but that instantly reminded me of hangover...

Not seeing how it was a joke in the first place.

My bad. I just read it in the same voice that I read other comments from the past when the devastation in Japan was still in the news "Do you think there will still be Seasonals this week?" I wasn't trying to say that you made a joke, rather that there are more important things to worry about than current event ramifications in the world of Gran Turismo. Poor choice of words on my part - plus I didn't realize you were out there for GT Academy.

Don't you find it ironic how they are trying to stop people contacting each other where to meet up and keep organised, yet the BBC just mentioned streets to avoid in Liverpool.

Umm, now all the other scum who are interested in joining in now know where to go?

It reminded you of it because of the closed circuit camera shots that they saw at Tyson's house. But let's not get into that, that would be a tad heartless right now.

with that in mind and all the cuts the government is making its inevitable...as bad as it sounds it was going to boil over some time....

This has nothing to do with government cuts. I bet you any money you could ask any of these numbskulls if they care about government cuts and the only response would be a gormless look on their face.

Make no mistake these sorts of people are always looking for an excuse. Lack of education and community spirit maybe to blame, but not recent cuts.
