London and England riots

I work in Wavertree on a night shift so I'm watching all this very carefully. Wavertree shouldn't see too much trouble, but even so, it can be rough near there.

I know where you mean and I'm fairly certain you'll be fine from there to the M62 although the was a lot of trouble on Lawrence Road last night and the shops in Old Swan may be closing early as there may be trouble there.

They seemed to start (relatively) close to us, then moved away towards town. Hopefully, they'll stick to attacking Liverpool One and won't come near me!

Apparently Liverpool One is shutting at 6 tonight instead of 8 to allow all the workers to get home safe. There has been so much investment in Liverpool recently and a huge part of town is absolutely stunning, if they wreck that they deserve concrete boots and a swim in the Mersey.

Like I said, if anyone here thinks the riots in Bahrain are anything short of masked TERRORISM, you're clueless.

I'm not Bahraini, I have no interest supporting the government. Feel free to ask any expat here as well and hear what he/she will have to say.

You obviously have been affected by this, and I wish I knew more about the situation. But having a rant here, isnt going to cure anything, and from a selfish point of view, my concern is with London and other cities closer to my home.

Btw how would any of you like it if those "young chavs looting stores" demanded to kill the queen of England?

I mean, it's exactly what's been happening here since 2003. Bunch of kids looting stores, killing policemen and terrorising the streets chanting "death to al-khalifa".

Apparently if you smash up a Currys and nick an LCD TV that makes you... err... something... government sanctions!

Excellent! That's cleared that one up. Anyone have anymore funny seagull videos?

:D

I imagine most of us would join in. Which is kind of the point. These ****wits aren't making a political statement, they aren't trying to overthrow the government, they're just looting because they can.

TDK, respectfully I believe your frustrations deserve a thread of it's own.
I was going to make one but I've given up. I even got hard evidence to support my claims, unlike the foreign media.

It's not selfish.

sorry if I went off-topic but it really pissed me the **** off when all of you got upset at this when it's been happening here for YEARS and yet you've supported them.

BULL-****ING-****

1) They're not the majority

Shi'a form 70% of Bahrain's population.

tdk
2) Even if they were, they are not 1% opressed

The Bahraini ruling party is formed of Sunni individuals.

tdk
3) They have more rights than anyone in the country

Shi'a are blocked from holding posts of military or political significance in Bahrain.

If you're gonna nitpick and try to be a smartass, piss off.

If you're going to respond to any member like that again, your time here is done.

Does it make a difference WHY they're doing it? So, just because they have different goals our government should let them off the hook and everyone around the world gets to call them a tyranny? WHILE WE GOT STUCK AT HOME WITH NO FOOD FOR WEEKS BECAUSE OF IT?

Around there yes, not at, but nearby. And yes it can but nothing super-serious, I wouldn't expect anything like these riots but you never know.

I meant in Sony, to be honest. I used to work there, y'see.

Lawrence Eoad is proper rough, though. I'm surprised anyone noticed rioting along there...

I said i'm being selfish for being more interested in events in London, then in Bahrain.

Finally I understand where this came from. OK, I'm sure living in a similar situation day in, day out would make you angry and frustrated, especially when the UK and world (?) media does not cover it. But you can't really come on a thread like this with the vast majority being UK posters and blame them for discussing it when it's also going on in other parts of the world. Sorry to here about your situation, but I'm also sorry for ours.

If the Queen was having opposition leaders, human rights campaigners, doctors and nurses arrested and had shot peaceful protesters, then i'd want her head on a stick in front of the palace. But she hasn't. That's the difference.

"How do you keep them down on the farm once they've seen Paris?"

Here we have a generation of youth raised on the glittering promises of globalism, multiculturalism, higher education, technology and consumerism for everyman and woman, too. But when it comes time to take their bite of the big, juicy apple, the cupboard is revealed as bare, and expectations are dashed. Perhaps this is why their mood is sour, and they're wanting the swells to taste some of the disappointment and the ashes?

1) bullcrap, they're around 48-53% according to an unofficial study. There are no official studies discriminating sects in Bahrain. Btw, Samera Rajab is a member of the Parliment and she's shia, go ahead and listen to what SHE said on the BBC. She clearly stated shia are NOT the majority in Bahrain.
2) Yeah just like the queen of England is English.
3) bullcrap, they represent 75% of government jobs as well as the ministry of internal affairs. There's also shia in the military, they're just unspoken of for the sake of saying they're opressed. Everybody needs to pass a backgruond check to enlist, it's not the government's fault these terrorists have been murdering police and civilians for over 30 years. How can you let someone like that in the army? The ones that don't have such a background are let in, and I know some of them personally. Oh and they got 17 seats in the parliment.

The cupboard is bare, as the little c***'s have looted them.

Yeah I got, I was saying I understand and I don't consider it selfsh.

It's not that they don't cover it, they SUPPORT IT and they BLATANTLY LIE about everything that actually happens.

If the Queen was having opposition leaders, human rights campaigners, doctors and nurses arrested and had shot peaceful protesters, then i'd want her head on a stick in front of the palace. But she hasn't. That's the difference.
NONE.....NONE of that happened. LIES

THAT'S THE POINT! That's why I've been enraged by this. Everything you heard on the news is absolute LIES!

Seriously, how would you react if the world media came out and said "Tyranny UK government kills and apprehends peaceful protesters in London bla bla bla"?

And married to a Greek bloke.

Can we boot tdk from this thread?

Be my guest I'm getting tired. I'm glad to see people who are willing to at least hear from me about what actually happened, but sad to see brainwashed [people] such as Famine around.

Man, this isn't going anywhere on here, sorry.

You don't work for the Bahraini Press Office do you?

tdk
btw lmao at him calling them "peaceful protesters". See what I was talking about?

That's your media vs. our media. Your mostly media is state-run and therefore biased towards the royal family/government. Of course it's not going to tell you the whole story. 'Our' media has nothing to gain by distorting the facts.
