We did something we haven't done in a while. No- not win a game. That was on Friday night. But the Astros managed to win a series! It was 5-1 at Cincinnati as we took down the NL Central leading Reds. A win is a win. A series win is a series win. And we'll gladly take it for our 44th win of this hapless season.

So what did your team(s) do today?

Yeah, I saw the highlights of that 8-2 thrashing ARI took on MLB Network. Ouch. Sorry, man. Impressive wins for the Yankees at the Orioles and the Rays at home against the Rangers today.

Congratulations to all other winners from today's games.

Atlanta's on a tear, but I just discovered that two Wild Card teams will play against one another in a do-or-die game. At this rate, NL Wild Card game will be between the Braves & the Cardinals. My #1 & 2 teams. It figures. It really does. :banghead:

Braves are within 5 1/2 games of the Nationals now. Make my wish come true, MLB! I'm a casual fan at best, but really loyal one! :P

Lose. Again.

What about LA? :P

Giants shut the hated ones out 4-0 on a ESPN game that had quite possibly the worst broadcasting crew of all time. Of course we always get Orel for every freaking Giants/Dodgers game on ESPN all you hear is a bunch of bias. Oh well, its not like I care from 5.5 games up.

Prosthetic

Could have been worse. No joe morgan or john miller. Fun game to watch

I rarely watch ESPN Sunday Night Baseball. However, I have LOADS of respect for the great-sounding Jon Miller and former Astro Joe Morgan. Those are two guys I'd want to hear to call any baseball game. Them, or maybe Vin Scully (wow- I go from Giants commentary to Dodgers commentary!).

Enjoy any Monday action today and good luck to your team(s).

Anybody need a closer? We got rid of Francisco Cordero, who has a total of six blown saves this season with both Toronto and Houston this season. Astros lost last night 4-1 vs. the Cubs.

By closer you mean a pitcher who is having issues with many things? I'm sure that Milwaukee, Los Angeles (A) and New York (N) could use him .

Ha,what is his ERA? Like 19.00

7 players on the 60-day DL, Billingsley out for the season... I really hope he doesn't need Tommy John and miss 2013. The season isn't over yet, the offense still has a chance to turn it on, but even my endless optimism is beginning to wane.

Regardless of the outcome of 2012, the Dodgers now have an extremely talented core of players and look to be set up for success for quite some time. This offseason is going to be sorely needed by the players in this club. It has been quite a rollercoaster for a team that nobody expected much from at the start of the year.

Wow, I knew Cordero had been bad for Toronto before he was traded, but his ERA there of 7.55 looks pretty good against his Houston ERA of 19.8.

The news on B. McCarthy is absolutely great. Glad he's okay. This deal is just heart-wrenching just thinking about what injuries he suffered.

As for the Francisco Cordero deal, hell... bring back Brad Lidge, especially the Lidge that could PROPERLY close games for my Astros. Speaking of former Astros, Lance Berkman will be getting more surgery and likely done for the season. I thought I heard he may retire. If so, THANK YOU for your service, especially here in Houston. My favorite Rice Owl (speaking as a U. of Houston fan).

Oh, and we won tonight! 1-0 tonight against the Cubs. Jordan Lyles got the win along with a Wilton Lopez save. Germano (CHC) was the loser. We're eventually going to have 100 losses, but every win counts. I think this is win #45 for the Astros. As I said before, when your team is going to lose 100+ games, I think making it to at least 50 wins is an accomplishment. MAYBE things are getting better for the Astros. But even as we know, the season is already been well over for us. It's been over since going in the wrong direction after being just one game below .500 heading into that at Dodgers series. Then, it continued with absolute futility after the All-Star Break. Every win since has only saved me from absolute pandemonium.

Jeff Luhnow, I hope you know what the hell you're doing trying to save my team...

Sweep. :D

Only a two game series but a sweep is a sweep. We need to keep this up as San Diego has the best record since the trade deadline and they are only 2.5 games back. :nervous:

Phillies have won seven or so games in succession. Now for four games, they're coming down to H-Town for a four-game swing. Snowball's chance in Hell we take down the Phillies, unless the Phillies get bored and WANT to lose. "Two teams going in different directions" is merely an understatement. Pessimistic as I sound, I still want my team to play hard enough to win as well as actually WIN. Still- doesn't stop us from being an NL doormat. Only we'll be an AL doormat next season. So... we'll see what happen.

Good luck to you and your team(s) today and this weekend.

I would like to offer some congrats to Boston's Dustin Pedroia who had to leave the game in the seventh against the Yankees to tend to the birth of his second child. May his days be long and plentiful.
