The Astros get a modicum of revenge as we won 4-3 tonight. Hanging four runs on St. Louis in the Bottom of the 4th put us ahead for good. Otherwise, we would have lost 3-0. For Houston, Bedard picked up the win and Veras got the Save. It was Lance Lynn who took the loss for St. Louis. We finally hit the 30-win mark.

Nice job, 'stros! Way to take down those Redbirds.

Get ready for the weekend series as the first half of 2013 will come to an end! Some of these games may even be nationally-televised. Here are the upcoming series:

--- American League ---
* Cleveland Indians at Chicago White Sox (double-header on Friday)
* New York Yankees at Baltimore Orioles (Sunday Night Baseball)
* Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim at Houston Astros
* Toronto Blue Jays at Boston Red Sox
* Detroit Tigers at Tampa Bay Rays
* Kansas City Royals at Minnesota Twins

--- National League ---
* Milwaukee Brewers at Pittsburgh Pirates
* Washington Nationals at New York Mets
* Arizona Diamondbacks at Atlanta Braves
* San Diego Padres at Miami Marlins
* San Francisco Giants at Colorado Rockies
* Philadelphia Phillies at Los Angeles Dodgers

--- Interleague ---
* Cincinnati Reds at Texas Rangers
* St. Louis Cardinals at Oakland Athletics
* Chicago Cubs at Seattle Mariners

I'm sorry for any typos- if any. Enjoy your baseball this weekend, and good luck to all of your team(s).

Cueto lasted 1 inning against the Rangers before leaving hurt for the third time this season. The Cincinnati train has officially derailed. I think injuries and poor play are going to keep us out of the postseason this year. :indiff:

Well it was a great run, but we finally were the last team to get shut out this year. Fully expecting us to get swept this weekend.

This post WILL be updated with more material after power went out at my house earlier tonight.

Anyhow, the Astros just didn't have enough to pin down the Angels. We are now 30-50 on the season having lost 4-2 to LAA on Friday night.

That was bad, but our loss was nothing compared to the exorcism the other Los Angeles team took. The Dodgers lost 16-1 hosting Philadelphia. Dodgers haters must have enjoyed seeing LAD get creamed this bad.

[UPDATE] As for Game 1 of the CLE at CHW doubleheader, what a knock-down drag-out brawl (not literally) that was. Talk about going blow-for-blow! I saw the score while I was looking at ESPN's Bottom Line while watching parts of the NASCAR Nationwide race at Kentucky. Here's the numbers on that game:

CLE: 19 runs, 21 hits, 1 error
CHW: 10 runs, 13 hits, 1 error

In Game 1 of that doubleheader... former Astro Matt Albers won for Cleveland, and Brian Omogrosso was the Chicago White Sox's losing pitcher.

This was game 81 of 162 for the Astros, so we're halfway through the season. Temperatures may have reached the unusual high of about 104°F here in Houston today, but my Astros got burned. 7-2, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. One more win for LAA will mean they sweep the Astros after the four-game sweep we handed them in Anaheim earlier this season. Maybe that sweep made the Angels turn demonic against my Astros. Either LAA gets the broom out tomorrow afternoon on us, or we prevent the sweep and snap our back-to-back losses with a win.

The Astros are now 30-51 after the halfway point of the season.

We got swept ourselves, R1600Turbo. LAA won 3-1 to sweep the 'stros here in H-Town for this three-game set. Tomorrow night, my Astros will have some Tampa Bay Rays problems for a four game set. This will be our last home series before the All-Star break.

A few National League notes...

* Shout out to the Miami Marlins in pulling off that Walk-Off Grand Slam to win 6-2 hosting San Diego.

* It was ugly at Citi Field. NYM lost 13-2. Only good Mets news is that they didn't get shut out and that they actually got some hits. NYM will host the Diamondbacks for four games in their next series.

Congrats to all other winners, including eventual winners of games in progress.

Last Sunday, the Dodgers were 9 games back of the first place Diamondbacks.

Seven days later, the Dodgers are a mere 4 games out of first place. The next stop for the Dodgers is Colorado, where they will send of the best starters in baseball to the mound.

You might want to start checking those rear view mirrors, boys.

I think its a bad idea to pitch to Chris Davis. Perhaps they just walk him since he's on pace to hit 60 HRs.

I didn't realize St. Louis lost the top spot in Central. :grumpy:

Pittsburgh has been on a tear. 9 straight wins now. But it's looking exactly like the last 2 years where they were in the same position, only to tank in the second half of the season. If that happens again, the Cards are going to casually stroll to the end as division champs. At this point, the Reds are looking like crap and likely won't make an impact unless they decide to start hitting.
