@daddyo845 some on your list are on my list, I'll add the ones that are not, & queue them up for testing.

I'm not so sanguine (and most people are not) about putting cars that are under 450pp on sports tires... unless they come with them.
Most of those cars you have listed, I beieve, come with comfort softs.
I actually think that comfort softs are more reliable & predictable than sports hards. You can't go as fast on the comforts, but they're not as dicey either.

If we do super cars, then those should definitely NOT be on comforts of course. :scared:

Okay we could run them on comfort softs if you wish. What do you think about the idea though if we were to do a compact sports car list?

I was also thinking of having a get together.
You know running 3 lap races where you spread out - or "race alone" :odd: And take lap times from that. And then get money for it.

This should work, though it would mean scheduling another time for the get-together. Maybe set the race to four laps, and have everyone spread-out on lap one and then run as fast as you can for three laps and record the fastest lap time. If Longbow joined us, he would just have to be careful as he drives past us on lap # 4.:D

If you should want another tester, I'm interested. I went ahead and ran the luxury car list on two tracks, if you want some more times.

(that 300C -- ugh, I now remember why I haven't touched it since GT4.)

Anyway, I would be happy to test anywhere, I just sort of picked DF at random, and Laguna is my go-to test track (even if I'm not that fast there :irked:).

Also, I like the online test/race idea. Plenty of credits left after being a miser throughout career mode, but these luxury cars certainly ate into the pile.

I did those bonus luxury cars and here are the results
Audi S4 '03 1:42.192
Jaguar S type R 1:40.759
BMW Z8 1:40.181
Notes: Audi S4 was easy to drive and like people have been saying there is no 4wd under steer
Jaguar S type R: as one may be able to guess it steers like a boat. Surprisingly fast however. Also it ages you 45 years .
BMW Z8: tricky to drive but very fun. A very effective cure for the aging caused by the Jag .
All cars were run on trial mountain and were run on sports medium tires and with no traction control.

Yeah I noticed ... I'm tempted to try the S3 again now.
I hated that car in GT5. Tried it in a snail drivetrain event thing... and OMG it was awful. I mean really awful.
And I immediately thought - well I also didn't like the S4. (or the a2)
but the S4 didn't seem so bad now... though I hadn't driven it in Gt5 in well over a year or more.

Some cars definitely seem somewhat different... maybe I can't drive them faster, and maybe they're not really EASIER... they're just better somehow.

PS: I can't afford to be aged 45 years... I'd have to host races from a nursing home. :scared:

I know how you feel watermelon. Except for that last part . I'll get there eventually either don't drive that jaguar or if you do immediately drive the BMW z8 or any other fast fun car right after

Yeah or having the master database of @snowgt from GT5. :odd: :sly:
His test database has been extremely helpful to me in judging cars. And believe me, it shows me starkly that pp sometimes doesn't mean squat. :indiff:

But again... if you're going to look at PP definitely stay in the same year-range and class-range. If it's the same type of car, and ballpark the same era, it's usually pretty good predictor.
But if you're comparing vintage to new models, or 2 different types of cars ...

You might like to know that I'll be starting the all-car-testing-project again soon. Check back in a year or so for results.

Seriously though, I've got about 20 million in the bank on my primary account, and it seems that I could buy 635 cars with that already. Now, I don't think I'll go overboard again and test on 4 different tracks including the Nordschleife again, because GT7 will be out before I finish that, but 2 or 3 well-chosen tracks, with something like 800-900 cars (without duplicates), at an average of, say, 20-30 minutes per car, that would take only about 3 months. If I was testing 8 hours per day. :odd:

I knew there was a flaw.

That's ambitious. That's it that's all I have to say.
Oh yeah I forgot this part.
Good luck with that

Plus ... I just have to hope they won't change the physics much half way through testing or otherwise the results are worthless... :yuck:

@GTsail290
Did you run the Audi at Suzuka East? I don't have that time.

This is the way the Luxury list looks to be shaping up:

  1. Jaguar XK Coupe Luxury '07
  2. Chrysler 300C '05
  3. Infiniti G35 Coupe '06
  4. Audi S4 '03
  5. Jaguar S-Type R '02
  6. BMW 135i Coupe '07
  7. Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG '08
  8. Mercedes-Benz SL 55 AMG (R230) '02
  9. Jaguar XFR '10
  10. Maserati GranTurismo S '08
  11. BMW Z8 '01
  12. BMW M3 Coupe '07
  13. Aston Martin Vanquish '04
  14. Aston Martin DB9 Coupe '06
  15. Lexus IS F '07

Thing is, I really don't think the Lexus is better than the DB9. :odd:
I mean it's a DB9.

Is it just that Aston Martins are my favourites and I'm partial to them?

I hate the C63 AMG . :ill:
It drives like it's got damage. It's bouncing around everyone's test drive lists. It's not that exciting in the looks department.
I'm trying to imagine why it was ever in the list in the first place.
Is anyone loving this car??
I think on any given track I'd probably make out better in a race if I was in the 135i or even the old man Jag. :odd:

I mean the c63 I think is ok. No offense @watermelonpunch but I think you may be a little bias. You say you hate mercedes in general and well I think the mercedes vary greatly. I think the sl 55 is really bad. I think the c63 is ok but I really like the ALS amg a lot. You also say that you really like astons. I really like astons too and in real life I would taken Aston over an is f any day. Astons are nice to drive. The Lexus is just very quick and very easy to control allowing me to push it through the corners faster but the astons gave it a run for its money that's for sure.

I probably am biased.
But we are going to use some of the bigger tracks with these cars. So I want to make sure the straight speed is taken into account more.

True but from what I saw from longbows testing, these cars have very high speeds and they probably won't be reached unless we go to ssr7 or x or de sarthe no chicanes so I don't think it will be a problem. @LongbowX, do you think these cars are going to reach these speeds anywhere other than the places I just mentioned?

@GTsail290
Did you run the Audi at Suzuka East? I don't have that time.

I hadn't run the Audi earlier, or the Jag S-Type R, so I've just run both at Suzuka East

57.221 -- Jaguar S-Type R '02 = GTsail9
58.221 -- Audi S4 '03 = GTsail9

The Audi S4 is a nice car to drive but it does exhibit understeer going thru all the esses at Suzuka. Not excessive, but more than you would desire, so this slows the Audi down. It would probably eat its front tires in an Endurance race faster than the other cars.

I will also put my times in my earlier post for consistency.

Oh no don't do that because then I don't see it.
I mean you can put it there, but also put it at the end... because I don't go back & check earlier posts all the time.

About the speed - no I don't think they'll reach their top speeds... but the acceleration makes a difference at places like Monza & nurb, and places with uphills like Spa.

I think the kind of track it is will mix things up considerably. Generally, actual racing favours speed (acceleration). That's why the Volvo Station Wagon actually achieves reasonable results most of the time. The cars with greater cornering will always be slowed in races.

I think the list looks fine. I would maybe switch the S-Type R with the 135i for the reason above. The IS-F and DB9 were close in GT5 and I see they still are. The DB9 handled brilliantly in GT5, I think it lost a little but not very much.

The C63 is fine for me. It didn't handle so bad. It's not the greatest or anything but good enough to include I guess.

List now with all the times I've gotten:

  1. 118 -- Jaguar XK Coupe Luxury '07 =
  2. 111 -- Chrysler 300C '05 =
  3. 103 -- Infiniti G35 Coupe '06 =
  4. 093 -- Audi S4 '03 =
  5. 080 -- Jaguar S-Type R '02 =
  6. 073 -- Mercedes-Benz SL 55 AMG (R230) '02 =
  7. 073 -- BMW 135i Coupe '07 =
  8. 068 -- Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG '08 =
  9. 052 -- Jaguar XFR '10 =
  10. 048 -- BMW Z8 '01 =
  11. 047 -- Maserati GranTurismo S '08 =
  12. 035 -- BMW M3 Coupe '07 =
  13. 030 -- Aston Martin Vanquish '04 =
  14. 015 -- Lexus IS F '07 =
  15. 014 -- Aston Martin DB9 Coupe '06 =

The SL55 will be faster than the data suggests. It's quick on the straights (although I do think it's placed pretty well in the proposed list). The S-Type while not as quick will still generally be quicker than the 135i also, as I mentioned before. The others are more mixed. It really just depends on driver pairing and track selection.

Just for fun, I decided to try them against the AI at another track and to earn some more funds.

So I took them both to the WORLD CIRCUIT TOUR, Race # 2 (International A Series) at Brands Hatch.

Its a five lap race against a mix of race cars who use RH tires. I will run on SM tires, but I've got more horsepower than them so its a fair fight.

Results:
-----------
Aston DB9 Coupe '06 ------ 8:11.247
Lexus IS F '07 -------------- 8:13.750

The DB9 puts its power/torque down to the road better so I felt that I could accelerate quicker coming out of the corners. The Lexus corners better, so it would probably be better at the tight tracks. So I would say that the two cars are pretty much equal, but I would pick the Aston Martin if we were racing on the high-speed tracks.

Both are quite fast so I came in second in both races to a slightly faster Touring car. The AI get in the way somewhat during the race, but you also get a few drafts off them so it pretty much equals out.

Great fun!:)
