Master List Of 2.06 Sound Changes

Actually, no. The Murciélagos/Aventador share a similar engine sound with the Gallardo (which actually sounds like a V10 should).

The Murciélago/Aventador have V12's which have a very distinctive exhaust note, and sound nothing like they do in-game :ouch:

So yes, it disturbs me when I drive the Murciélago, knowing that it has a V12 in the back, but having it sound like a V10 :(

This is how the Lambo Murcielago should sound in GT5.
Game GTR2 PC.

They sound like V10's so no. It's actually a higher pitched version of the Gallardo's sample. The racing exhaust makes the Murcies and the Aventador sound like a V12 but it's a bit artificial and annoyingly loud to my taste. Also, it's an over used sample in other modern V12 supercars.

However, the standard street Zondas do have a proper modern V12 sample (in the likes of how a Lambo sounds) that was changed from that strange raspy sound they had back in GT4. To my opinion this was probably one of the best sound upgrates in GT5 so far and quite honestly I don't know why PD did such a great job with a couple of standrds and not with three Premiums that were basically the new stars in the GT series.

I personally wouldn't mind if PD just copies and pastes the Zonda's sample into the V12 Lambos since Zondas and V12 Lambos do sound similar.

What anoys me even more is that for the most part they do have the correct sound samples during startup in the garage! Why they didn't use them on the game is beyond me! Those are the sounds they need to aim for, no scaling down no overcopression and digitalization! Raw unmolested unedited unfiltered pure sound samples! Not one car, not even one has the deep rich profound sound a real car does! Not even the best sonding car in the game!

This is what the cars with racing exhausts should sound like:

I might be wrong but I think they might have changed the sound of most, if not all, RM cars.
Not all have received a completely new sample like the Corvette ZR-1 and Camaro SS RM versions but they all seem to sound more raspier and rawer than the regular versions with the same (racing) exhaust.
I remember there being a slight difference before but not as pronounced or significant as this.
It immediately becomes apparant by the starting noises they make in the garage, hope someone can confirm or deny this, maybe my ears, memory or a placebo-effect are playing a trick on me.

Here is the audio. Sorry for the poor quality, but it is the best I have and it sounds alot better in real life. The best time to hear it is right after I stop, around mid way through. Other than that, you have to really listen to hear the whine. file:///J:/VOICE/VOICE004.WAV I hope you guys can get to it, but urling isn't working, you have to copy and paste.

You have to upload it somewhere first (that link is trying to point to your own computer, except that my browser interprets it as pointing to my J-drive)
You can upload attachments here on the forum if the file-type is still accepted (go to your account). It certainly won't work if it's too big, though, in which case you'll have to try another file host out on the wider internets somewhere.
Bear in mind that .wav (wave) files are uncompressed, and generally massive; you would benefit (in shorter upload times, as well as file size limits) from compressing it to mp3 or something in future. 👍

Anyway, I tested my Cobra R, and with the stock exhaust fitted, it sounds identical with or without the supercharger, just as it did before the update. You might have just never noticed it when stock, or didn't listen to it in stock form in the first place. ;)

Placebo effect at work!

LOL See this and go check the VW Nardo in the game but make this please.

Put your headphones in both your PC to listen to this video and then same with GT5. But GT5 at max volume. And do the same as this video not pushing the gas to the top more or less to no more than 6500 rpm.

Then come here and tell me what do you think.

Edit:Also it sounds quite similar the idle sound in GT5 but is way too low in rpm. It should be more or less at 1800rpm to sound almost exactly like in this video. Try it.

Edit 2: Low rpm are bad and high rpm are out of tone. But the sound in the middle is good but also needs more effects mixed to achieve the real one.

Why would you change the RM Integra PD, why! That was one of the best sounds in the game now it sounds like the Civic :(

Youtube doesn't do GT5 any justice, why? My sub rumbles the whole house when that Cobra R hits the track so I record it and it sounds like nothing what I hear coming out my SS. Why is this? All you hear is whineeeee ughhh. 👎

What? I didn't know they did that! Why would they ditch the best 4 cylinder sound sample they have? That's just plain stupid!

They changed nearly all the RM sounds. I mean I know the Silvia, Vette, Camaro and NSX sound better but losing the Integra's noise makes it all redundant :(

Even though in GT5 the Nardo's W12 engine has the same sample as the Aston Martin DB9's V12, it does sound like a 12 cylinder. And although it does not sound the same, it does sound somewhat similar. I don't think that this car is a problem at all.

If PD could get as close enough as with this car, it would be ok. They've done it with other cars.

Nice vid, by the way. Man, I don't know why didn't they make this car... Although what a terrible clutch for street use...

The Mercedez Benz CLK-LM Race Car is different too its like the IS-F Racing Concept.. makes me sad.. Why PD??
That car always sounded that bad.

Edit: Confirmed, they've ruined this car also! What tha hell are they thinking!!!? You gotta be stupid to think that's an improvement! Come on PD who's the monkey in charge of these changes?

Integra Type R Touring Car sounds a lot more ricer like. If someone could double check to be absolutely sure, but I'm pretty sure it was a much deeper growl before.

If this is supposed to be a master list, the person who started the thread needs to make sure they are around to update the OP....

Anyway, confirmed that the IS-F RM and the Silvia S15 RM have changed as well, and both of them for the worse. 👎

Can someone check out the 69 Z28 with a full race exhaust? It seems to have a pretty mean V8 sound now that I do not remember it having before, though I hadnt driven it in awhile.

I'm officially declaring this the worst update ever.

RIP IS-F and Integra :(

Haven't checked the Integra RM yet, but we should clarify that this is the IS-F RM version.

The stock car with the stock exhaust still sounds great.

I literally just stocked my favorites with classic cars for a similar purpose before seeing this thread. I had previously tested them all for exhaust I liked most (they've all got the pipes bought from before), however I was a moron and forgot to write it down! I guess I'm the man for the job!👍 I'll update results as I'm getting them.

Alfa Romeo TZ2:
Didn't drive it much before, but driving it earlier today I recall thinking the exhaust note sounded slightly different.

'54 Mercedes 300SL:
Definitely no difference here.

Shelby Cobra:
Sorry guys, nothing's changed and semi-racing pipes still make me want to start a lynch mob!

'69 Camaro Z28:
No different sounds here, full racing still has that same small-block Chevy thunder. Although personally, I'd like it to have the '63 Corvette Race Car sound on the Z28; the current one sounds too much like a strong 350 to me and not the true rev-it-high-as-piss 302, that thing was the equivalent of a J-spec Honda Type R motor in comparison to most other '60s American V8 motors. The older 327 and 283 both routinely went to 7000rpm and the 302 was the shorter 283 crank with the 327 bore (commonly shifted at 7000rpm as well, 7500rpm was no problem and I'll personally verify it beyond just reading some magazine article, that Chevy 302 was one bad b****). Ford's 289 was the same way (see GT350) and especially the high-end ones with the Shelby airflow improvements, 8000rpm was within the capabilities of a race-tuned GT350R motor (and again, not some junk I got from magazines/google). The Shelby sounds good, the Z28 should sound have more of the screaming and high-revving nature to its exhaust note than sound like a real life 350-powered Camaro.

(others in progress)

There has to be a way we can let PD know how we feel about this, right?

...right? :nervous:
