Sorry to hear about your depression issues Moglet. Don't worry you are considered lucky in my eyes as atleast you have had atleast one girlfriend I have not yet had one :(. And don't worry about the easy to get upset about things really quick as well I have been like that for ages you just learn to live with it. Natural Artist you are a awesome photographer and cna work wonders in photoshop you have some of the best cleaning techniques out there (way better than I will ever be!). Keep it up and never give up trying (Atleast thats what my teachers say!). Check out my gallery and my depressing news if you have time!

Thanks for your reply and your thoughts speedster, it all means a lot! 👍

But onto more joyful matters now, I have a new photo for you all. :)

Old Skool Cleanup - Nissan Skyline
I'm bored lately of all of these complicated cleanups. I slipped up on the tournament as I'd spent too much time messing about with the rest of the car. So today I decided to go back to my old editing style of just blurring bits here and there, then dodging and burning, and then liquifying. I must say that I enjoyed it a lot more than my more detailed cleanups and I'm still pleased with the results.

However I did take things a step further by adding several layers of blending and shading (seen in the sky and on certain parts of the car) and then used a highlight selection inverted and blurred to get a slightly softer look. I wanted to keep the composition and the feel of the shot very simple so it was left in black & white.

Overall I'm VERY pleased with it. Here's the final piece;

It looks verry good Moglet!
And yes your right sometimes the "easy" way is more fun then the hard way, and you have some nice results.
Thats the way im doing things right now. I only spent some more times with the colouring part. Gradient maps can give you some nice results with alot of depth and highlights.

Wow, looks really good even with your old cleanup method. I have to say that your extremely clean shots like some of mine and other peoples on the forums are so so clean and sharp that they look vectorized. This skyline shot isn't as cleaned up but it actually looks a little more realistic. Not saying your other shots don't look good though cause they still make me go .

Beautiful one! Glad you go back to your old self, but the best part is you really enjoy working on the shot. R34's headlight is really attractive. With the Black and White style, the shot looks highly realistic. Although it isn't highly attractive by looking at the thumb, the more I look at the full size the more I like it. Great stuff man!

Beautiful shot Mog, you did an awesome job cleaning this one. It doesn't look all vector like, but looks clean and realistic.

Amazing lighting and it being in B&W makes it look even better. Love the look of the sky. One of your best recent shots I would have to say.

Keep up the sweet work Mog, look forward to you next update. 👍

Vey nice shot Moglet. I can understand how hard you cleaning technique is mine is way too simple and I probably need someone like you to give me a hand in a "proper" clean up of a car instead of the way I do it some day. It is a really nice shot though, only thing that ruins it for me is the car but thats down to personal taste but it doesn't make it a bad shot! Great work Mog flawless as usual with you.
Check out my gallery if you have time as I need as much help as I can on my next update....hopefully it is going to be good.

I've just spent ages looking through your gallery, amazing work far too many to list but, you've got some amazing work Mog 👍

This is a pretty cool Skyline, Mog.

I like how you used the darker sky above to do a sort of vignetting.
Also, the amount of noise, especially on the car, is perfect. And you got the car looking metallic (as you've done lately, despite saying they're not :)) and incredibly realistic, with a dramatic look that I like very much.
One of your best looking shots in my book. 👍

You should be pleased with it Mog, it's a beautiful shot and the clean up is flawless in my opinion:)

Thanks, C_F. The cleanup looks pretty cool now that I look back at it.

I'm not a big fan of gradient maps when it comes to shading or smoothing, they tend to make things look very plasticy. But whatever suits you best is good I guess! 👍

I noticed this too, the cleaner shots tend to look very artificial due to the way they're smoothed out, whereas simpler cleanup methods provide better results in a way.

Thanks franz, I don't think the thumbnail does it justice at all!

I love the Skyline myself, it tends to produce really nice shots. But whatever floats your boat! I'm going to be taking a look at your gallery some time soon when I have the time.

Thanks beerzgood, I've been experimenting a bit more with vignetting lately and I really like the look it gives shots.

Top notch work as always Moglet.

Thanks TVR&FF.

Awesome shot mog. Realistic!!

Thanks for the feedback, Funkshen! 👍

And now, onto another update. :) Whilst shooting for the latest 2.0 contest I had some throwaway shots. These are what I'm posting up today for you.

Aston Martin DB9- 'Elegance'
Click any of the small shots to enlarge them to full size

This photo was rejected as it had too much editing done on it and I wasn't that pleased with the outcome. I'm posting it here as a sort of experimental piece.

This was the first entry I submitted, and it was taken at Beacon Hill before being heavily edited to make it look like it was moving.

This was the entry I decided to stick with in the end. I'm very pleased with this, especially the soft focus effect that I've applied using another new method I recently discovered!

Head 2 Head - 'Motegi Bling'

Another bit of experimenting with new techniques, the vignetting applied here was applied almost by accident!

The 1st reject for the Elegance comp is pretty good, it doesn't look overdone to me, just a tad dark maybe. I love the tones, and especially the way the headlights and the rims look, realistic and sharp.

The latest version you entered is just great. Damn, those tyres are wide... :)
I like how the light on the car balances on both sides, with that strong bright on the right and the big smooth reflection on the left. 👍
The tailpipe on the right seems more oval than the one on the left.
What cleanup did you do to this one?
And the blurred background, did you use filters to do it? Looks pretty good.

Thanks beerzgood, the latest Aston shot had had no real cleanup done on the car apart from liquifying the edges a bit. Then I added 2 soft focus layers using a method I just discovered, one was for highlights and the other for midtones. They bought the car out in that smooth, soft look. The background is as it was from GT4 just a little bit brighter and, due to the soft focus layers applied over the image, softer than usual.

Amazing shots Mog, I thought your first entry looked good. But the other two blow it away.
The angle and sweet lighting look so good in that first shot, nice blur of the bg and colours too.
Your new entry is so good, love the glow and colour of it. Awesome lighting and very clean too. How do you get that soft look if you don't mind me asking? :D
Your H2H entry is very well done, great vibrant colours, the angle and composition are spot on. Also nice vignetting.
It's funny to see you using Bling rims, didn't think I would see that.

Amazing shots as wee have come to expect. Keep up the outstanding work Mog. 👍

The soft look was achieved using various layers blurred using the Lens Blur effect. I then adjusted the layer blend mode on 2 layers to give high and low lights. I might do a tutorial on it some time soon!

The bling rims thing was a bit of a step into the unknown for me as I usually hate those wheels. However, I do quite like them on a car that matches their look. The 300C is generally known as quite a 'bling' car anyway and so I used that. I just don't like it when people put those wheels on any old car to make it look good.

Thanks for your feedback Drift, it's highly appreciated. 👍

Amazing mog 👍

Thanks 725!

Fantastic Skyline. I'm amazed how did you clean it. Usually, when a surface blur is being applyed, it come out "flat", but yours (Specially the bumper highlights) has a lot of texture keeping it perfectly clean.

I guess that's the liquify method you use or something, and it's amazing.

What to say about comp entries. All are great, I love all of them.

 ............ ........... .......... .....Aston Martin.......

Really nice shots I would have been happy with any of those in the comp as they all are so nice. I particulary like the first one but all of the shots deserve a place in Aston Martin history. The 300C shot is very nice as well. Great work! Check out my gallery if you have time.

Oh those aston martin shots are all soo nice man. My favourite has to be the first one. Great colours and looks really good with a big part of the shot being dark. Also the 300C looks sweet. Real mafia mobile.

You once more showed us how good you are! Keep it up! 👍

Thanks alex, it means a lot coming from someone as talented as yourself!

I'm glad you liked the Aston shots, I thought you might!

Oh My God Mogs.....i really love your last update, specially the Skyline looks so classic :)

Thanks, jeremyray

I chose the 300C for those bling rims because it does look a bit like a mafiamobile! 👍

Time for another update!

ASL @ The 'Ring

I've always found the ASL a very unusual car, so I thought an unusual shot was in order;

Enjoy! 👍

Unusual shot for such a car. It is a really nice shot I love the fact that only half the car is shown in the shot. The paint work is very clean as usual from you. The only gripe I have is that the rim doesn't look quite right but oh well. Great work. Check out my gallery if you have time.

I like the dark foreground and background, makes me focus more on both car and track. Great composition.
Those rims look a bit weird on that car, though (imo, of course).

The ingame blur looks great, and very nice cleanup on the car too, as always. 👍
I'm loving that sun glare on the side panels, looks awesome. Also, nice job on maintaining that sort of fluorescent look on the paint. 👍

Golf GTI @ Seattle

I took the same Golf used in the recent 2.0 contest out for a spin at Seattle to take in it's wonderful sunset. It seemed to reflect well on the car too! I hope you like this, it's been a while since I edited in this way and I love doing sunset style shots like this one!

Please click the image to enlarge it and see the full detail 👍

Enjoy!

Wow, thats an awesome picture. The lighting is beautiful and the way it reflects on the car and the road. I gotta say I kind of like this style from you more than the ultra clean shots you do.
