i just bulit my new rig yesterday and turned it on it ran fine exept for the fact that i didn't get any POST beeps or any video:banghead: . I made sure to plug everything in right but it does not want to show anything can anyone help me.

my specs are:P
gigabyte GA-8IPE1000 mobo
p4 3.06 ghz
1 gb of dual chanel ddr ram
XFX g force fx 5600 256 mb vid card
audagy 2 platnem sound card
2 maxtor 80gb hd's
pioneer multformat dvd burner
4 usb 2.0 ports
2 antec 80mm blue led fans
2 sets of vantec blue rounded ide cables:P

and yes the cpu runs and so do the hd's and the dvd i'm running out of things that could be wrong with it

Is the voltage set right on the back of the power supply? When i first set up the rig I'm using now I had a similar problem and I fixed it by flipping the little switch on the back of the power supply.

it is set to 115 and if i swich it it would be 230 and i think that is for PAL countrys not canada but i know it can't be my power cuz i can turn my rig on i just don't get any video or POST beeps

115? Everythin in the US is a 110 or 220. My grandpa ended up hooking a battery charger(for cars) up to his 220, then hooked it up to my uncle's car, ended up frying the computer chip inside the Toyota Tundra and my uncle had to borrow my grandpa's '90(?0) pickup, which was expired by 5 years....

So, bottom line: DO NOT CHOSE 230!

Yes, 115. A lot of power supplies say 115.

What is the watts for the power supply? If it's below 350, it might not be powerful enough to run all of the components.

that being said i have a 300w one it came with my case and if it didn't have enough power then how would it turn on at all

The power supply only has enough power to run some of the components, not all, that's the problem.

A 400 watt should be fine, maybe even a 430. Newegg.com has good deals on just about any computer related hardware.

Nah, I can't see it being the PSU. If it's a 300W supply, it will power all of that kit.

If you've tried replacing all your add-in cards (we had this with an HP Proliant server last week, and as soon as we took the network card out, it started normally), then I think you're looking at a blown motherboard.

well i'm sending my rig off to get it chked by the pros to see if they can find out what is wrong with it i hope i will not have to wait to long for it i wanna be on my pimp rig not this **** rig 2000

I thought, from the title, it was going to be about an eighteen wheeler semi, good buddy.

It's a geek term. It sounds like he's got a "White Box" built up with all the components he wants.

P.S. I don't blame you for taking it to a tech. Save your sanity!
Did you take it to the same place that built the box?

Okay, I have no idea what you said, and yes, I'm computer-literate. You need to get hold of a gigabyte?
