Yea man,
Stock like I bought it, tires and all. A few minor suspension settings, ASM 0,0,3 ( I play with a controller so throttle control is rather tough in 1st, maxed the downforce, LSD 20,40,17. A few were good strong wins and a few were pretty tight. I also think I may have strengthened the brakes a little to maybe 4 or 5, but the same front and rear.

Pretty amazing in my humble opinion!!! I tried... Thought it was because there just wasn't enough snort. Turns out it is my driving. Good to know that someone can do it after all. Sucks to find out it is my driving though.

Good job!!

Well thanx man. I realized that you have to slow down a little with these monsters. With the regular cars, JGTC, and most lower HP LM's I drove them like I stole them, but with these higher power rides they required that I loose a little adrenaline and "get in the zone". Not quite as hot into the corners, ease into the throttle coming out. Let the strong acc effect of the diff make you turn.

No problem 👍 I'm just amazed that you could win at Le Sarthe, the Speedway, NY and Seoul with that barge with no turbo... Ain't no slowing down at any of those tracks except at one end or the other

jparker_1987
... At LeSarthe and Nurb to acheive high speed without vibration softer springs and shocks are a must.

BTW- is there a race at Nurburing in this series:confused:

Are you still talking about the last race in professional??? I have run the 350Z LM car and it gets absolutely smoked on the first straight in the first race. The only way I was keeping up was with "the sauce" and once that runs out it's over. Did you change the gearing???? Your not the first to say the 350z LM car is sufficient......I just need a car thats going to keep up, im not worried about my driving :irked:
Actually no I mean the first race at Tokyo R246. I could smoke the competition in the straights and with exit speed from the corners, but going through the corners themselves I had trouble. Like the long right hand curve next to the stadium. I lost most of my ground there since I didn't have the downforce to aid in cornering. I want to try and mess with the toe angles and see if it helps any as well as camber. The quick right-left on the back "straight" sometimes gave me fits and made the car understeer. It was just a lot of "almost there" sections that would add up to put me a couple seconds down each lap. But if I was close to the R92C, for example, I could keep up.
I also noticed this in GT4 for the first time. Usually I used to just set my brakes to make, but in GT4, if you set em to hard the car will skip under braking.. like you can hear a squeel, then not, then squeel. Wasa very cool effect, but makes the car unstable under hard braking. I think I eventually had to keep the brakes at settings around 8 on the front and 5 on the back since I didn't want to oversteer on braking.

And yes I did change the gear ratios. I had planned on doing that for every track so that I could accelerate as quickly as possible but still have a descent top end for the main straight on each track.

Barge? I've been playing with a couple of these caliber series in the Extreme Hall and this one in the Pro Hall too, sorry for the confusion. One or two of these has the 'Ring in them. But yea, no doubt, it seems to be geared a little higher in GT4 than it was in GT3. You know it had the good acceleration and the 787B had the top end. It seems to be more balanced in GT4. Flat out it was almost on an even keel with the r92 or the Minolta, but at midrange was a little stronger. Seems to exit corners a little faster than the opposition.

Well, began my quest by starting with the Vertigo today... and it seems like that thing is virtully undrivable unless you turn the ASM on. It has horrible handling and horrible brakes. :grumpy: Needless to say, I got smoked. I will be replacing this on the list with the Toyota 7. Hopefully it won't be narly as bad as this.

GT4 really changed the way cars handle didn't it? You know in GT3 the Vertigo was absolutely awesome. It was on par with the S2000 Spoon Race Car, but like it, it was also a little underpowered.

This is where I'm kinda confused about what you are saying:

The stock black R390 has HP of like 798, weighs 1000 kg and pwr of 1.252
The stock black R92cp has HP of like 951, weighs 900 kg and pwr of .947
The stock Minolta has HP of of like 965, weighs 850 kg and pwr of .881

Straight up with the info on the cars, there is no way I would put the R390 on "even keel with the R92 or the Minolta". They ruined it in GT4. It ain't even close in the numbers. With the stage 3 turbo in the R390 it gets to 1.121 pwr which still doesn't get to the other two stock "out of the box". I have thought about this extensively and that is why I was questioning for clarification. I thought at first you must be running the R89C but then I reread it and you said it was black so I knew that wasn't it.

That is why I say it is an amazing thing you have done to win the pole in all the races and then go on to win the series with the black R390 stock. In my opinion, this is no small accomplishment...

The even keel I'm talking about is the driving of the AI in the Minolta or the R92(the typical fastest of the field), in comparison to how I was driving at the time. Sure if I put Mr. Bspec behind the wheel that drives similar to the AI, then no, it would not be even keel, I actually tried him and he couldn't keep up, unless I poled him in 1st in the Minolta or the R92. The AI seldom gets the top speed that you or I can. Their driving lines are almost always clean, which most of the time is slower. They run default brake setups, I don't, which allows later, harder braking.
Thanks for the links though. Interesting read.
What amazes me is some of the post where people are claiming to win in cars such as the 350Z. Like I said before, I tried that and got hammered so bad at Tokyo I exited the championship. But so many people are saying it can be done, I'm going to give it a few more tries before I rule it out.

I've just finished the 7th race (an abysmal 3rd place finish after getting spun out by the Sauber at the end of lap 1!!), and I'm sitting with a comfortable 16 point lead in my Minolta over the C9 Sauber. (5 wins in New York, Seoul, Motegi, Tokyo, and Hong Kong...2nd at El Capitan...3rd in Paris)

I see most people are having a struggle with the same races (Hong Kong and Paris). As you can see, I lost Paris myself; however I was able to pull the 1st off in Hong Kong.

I had R2/R2 setup (I'm currently using Aarque's Minolta tune setup in the tuning forum, and he said his tune works best with same tire combo's)...I figured this combo would be good enough to pit once, as I felt an R3 setup would force 2 pits. I qualified 1st and was ready to go. First hairpin right, came in too slow...rear ended by the Sauber...and I spun out. By the time I figured out where I was I was 15 seconds back and sitting in last place. Lap 3, similar situation moved up to 4th, rear ended, spun out...last place...25 seconds behind first. After the mayhem, I finally found a groove and was able to slowly creep on 1st place. I was about 15 seconds back in 3rd place on lap 11 of 18 when the Sauber decided to pit. So I decided to go in. Switched to the R3/R3 setup, didn't take fuel (this saves a couple seconds..takes longer to refuel than change tires). Came out about 9 seconds behind the Sauber. With 7 laps to go. By lap 13 I was in 2nd, by lap 16 I finally caught and passed the Sauber. Took home the gold.

You know, I bought the 2004 Pescarolo Courage C60, and added a Stage 3 Turbo to it. This way, I'll have the horsepower to step up to the speed demons you see on a daily basis in this series. I think with a Stage 3, power is bumped up from 799 to about 920 or 960. Keep in mind that any turbo upgrade beyond Stage 2 (except Stage 5 for tuner cars) results in cars being tough to accelerate and may hinder handling capabilities. So if you're really good, tune so that the effects are only mild.

This is why I haven't gone for Stage 4s for my bigtime race cars. Even in One-Make series, I usually mod cars lightly, like a Stage 2 Turbo or NA, and then maybe a racing muffler. If you have to bump up the horsepower just to have that edge in the bigger races, do that. By the way, though the Pescarolo Courage C60 is a great-handling car, you may need the Nissan R92CP or the Toyota 88C-V to win.

I'm currently racing this race using my stock 2004 Pescarolo Courage C60. I have no problems winning. I use stock tires, too. No problems whatsoever.

For those of us who get all bronzes in the license tests... this series is still not a pushover, even if you use the Polyphony F1 car.

I started with the Minolta Toyota, got gold in the first two races (barely), then got stomped at Hong Kong. Didn't read this thread first, so I figured it would just get worse from there.

I switched to the F1 car -- and it happened again at Hong Kong, though not as badly. Came in 3rd. Also, came in 4th at Paris Opera Reverse.

Came in first for the rest of the races, but sheesh, it is an F1. Even so, got 7 A-spec points per win. I had the Sauber Mercedes C9, Nissan R92C, and Toyota GT One in my field. The Mercedes was toughest competition, but all three of these give you a good run. Gillet Vertigo and R390 cars were always a lap or so in back.

The F1 is a bit of a challenge on the longer races, because you're stuck with medium tires, and may have to pit one more time than your opponents.

There. I confessed to using the F1. Hopefully, the new Pope won't excommunicate me from GTP. :)

hey im having problems with the gt world championship races to i use the minolta for the 1st two races then i mess up wit the rest i tried in b spec mode but the driver comes last basically could some help me like with the settings of the car and tyres thanks in advance

Hey I just completed the championship with 8 golds, 1 silver, 1 bronze for the championship in my Minolta. Selecting your tyres depends on the race/pitting strategy. There are a couple good strategies listed throughout this thread, you should check em out. For the most part I used Front/Rear R3/R2. On occaison I even used R2/R1. It really depended on how I felt in practice and which combo I felt would last me the longest. Certain tracks like Hong Kong where you have sharp turns and quick accelerations just tear up your rear tyres in the Minolta. So be aware of that.

Have you played with the Extreme Dream Car championship yet? Here's mine so far. Blowout with the 05 Fort GT SpecII, all but LeSarthe (too many blips) lost by 2 or 3 seconds in 2nd place. 350Z LM Concept, blowout but had problems again at LeSarthe, lost by .881. Both of these were low Aspec races. I'm 3 races in with the 190 Evo Merc Touring Car, 2 wins and got clobbered at Tokyo. I was within 1second at the long left and the long straights beyond the Ford GT LM, not the SpecII, blasted me on these straights to pull out a 7 second lead. The other two I won by well over 7 on one and I think the low teens at the other. These were all around 180-something Aspec races. I got the poll on all three but couldn't keep it at Tokyo.

Yeah doing it this way with slightly more LSD tuning and suspension tuning I also beat the GTWC with the Motul Pitwork Z. I'm waiting on my capture card so I can post the replays for anybody interested. I had ASM completely off and TCS at 1 since the car loves to chirp the tires enough to slowly wear them down over time. Otherwise it was just a series where no mistakes are tolerated and very precise control is needed.

I am also stuck on this one. I used the benz gtr race car. Any help guys?

I also need help, i am driving benz gtr race car, i cant when any race in gt world championship,i lead maybe for the first two lapsand thats it, it seem my main problem is tyres, i tried the harder compound tyres and then i cant keep up with the pack.

You aren't going to win with the Benz GTR unless you are a god of a driver. Seriously. What you need is a Minolta, 787B, R8, etc...Read through this thread and it will explain what cars, how to set them, and where to get them. Even with those cars it can prove to be a challenge. I used the Minolta that I won in the El Capitan endurance race.

It's not that difficult. If I'm not mistaken you used Medium on both front and rear first and after that you used Hard on both front and rear. If you try to do Medium at the front and Hard at the rear, the car still turns normal. By doing that, the tirewear will be approximately equal and you only have to pit once. To increase your chances at Super Speedway, just put Hard on the fornt and Super Hard on the rear and don't pit.

I did this thing as well and I also made a writeup: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=61647

Maybe that helps as well ;) (hmm, I hope I did not show off in this post :P)

I don't think I've mentioned this, but let me mention it anyways. The best bit of advice a novice should know is to hang in there. Just because you spin out on Lap 2 or 3 is not the end of the race. No, really. You still have a chance to win. If you have a capable car, just race to the best of your ability. Don't forget. You don't have to blow out everybody on Lap 1 or 2. GT World Championship is a test of endurance. These races last between 10 minutes and 20 minutes. In most cases, you'll have to pit. But as long as you can race consistently and smartly, you can still win the race. So never give up, even with tracks like Hong Kong and Suzuka.

First of All, Win the Endurance Race EL CAPITAIN. U Can win with a Subaru Impreza Spe-c. Put it at least 400 hp and a suspension well tuned and not so tight... El Capitain requires a 4wd with soft suspension.

If u win.... U get a Toyota Minolta 88C Race Car. Pretty old But ****in fast.
With this car u can win 8 of 10 races. You wont win at Hong Kong and New York.
You can win if you tune well the suspension, like... put TOE ANGLE negative in Front Wheels and positive in Back wheels. This will give you more angle for turning, and if you are a DAMN GOOD DRIVER you maybe beat the MAZDA 787B or the BMW in those tracks.
Otherwise, in the fast tracks liKe SEOUL CENTRAL, SPEEDWAY, EL CAPITAIN, TOKYO ROUTE they are going to swallow your dust!! I could win the championship doing like this, hope u can too.

SENNA FOREVER!!

See ya

Look, it's easy.

Get a CLK-GTR. Nail the fattest turbo you can find onto it. Put R2 tyres on the front and R1 tyres on the back. You will now be able to run the races at Super Speedway, Tokyo R246 and Seoul without pitting, and thus win by a mile, and the other 7 races you will need to pit at precisely halfway. Trust me - it's a recipe for all-out success. 100/100 points.

Failing that, you can quit the series when you see the first grid and not lose any game days or race win percentages. Keep restarting the series until the LMR/Minolta/ or R92/R88/Bentley combinations aren't there and you'll walk it in a Honda S800.

Do not race with that **** Mercedes Race Car CLK 98. That look like a MACK TRUCK. strong but has no smoothness on turns, does not turn well. I sold mine and bought a Tuned Skyline.

My dream is still the Jaguar Race car. A Brazilian, RAUL BOESEL, won Le mans 24 hours with that car in 1989 -real life- that car is awesome.

What kind of nonsense is that? :/ I do not like the way you are talking about the CLK, because if you train with it for some hours, you know how you have to drive the car. I have to agree it's not like the Group-C and LMP cars, but if you put some effort in the CLK, winning is easy.

Awesome read man!! Was the Celica stock or did you use the turbo you bought?
Definately going to check into your writeups more often. Great writeup by the way.
THANX Again! I think I used the Stage 3 Turbo. If I remember HP was around 446. The series could be won with less HP if more Downforce was available. :irked:

IMHO "PD" has really screwed up the Downforce in GT4! :irked: The JGTC Rides have LESS than the LMP Rides which have LESS than the FORMULA GT Ride! :mischievous: Most disappointing of all are the Gillet Vertigo & Tommy Kiara ZZII! :indiff: "Super" Rides in GT3 but the downforce has been reduced to where they're nearly NO Fun at all to drive in GT4!...O.G. :D
