Nice article, especialy that parts:

"The continuing reluctance on Sony’s part to show its hand seems to be nothing more than a marketing decision – an attempt to create some mystique around a game that has been away from its throne for too long to still be called the king."

"So, here’s the deal: 150 people have worked on Gran Turismo 5 for around five years, with a production cost of approximately 50 times more than the PlayStation original. With so much effort behind it, there’s no real doubt that GT5 will be good. The question is, will it be worth the wait?"

Thanks

:D

That article is incredibly flawed:
After all, Forza Motorsport and Project Gotham Racing will both have two instalments on the shelves before Gran Turismo has even managed one.
Which brings us back to the release date, and the quite ridiculous fact that three years after its unveiling we still have little more than a trailer to go on.
And then, a couple of lines later:
Of course, we’ve been allowed a glimpse of the main event in the form of Gran Turismo: Prologue. But where this would once have been regarded as an intriguing appetiser before the lavish main course, in a market bursting with alternatives it could have the opposite effect. Indeed, for many racing fans, Prologue was a sparkling reminder that gamers might not need Gran Turismo 5 nearly as much as Sony thinks.
Wth?
I also dont really get the last sentence.
gamers might not need Gran Turismo 5 nearly as much as Sony thinks.
And at the same time, the whole article is just moaning that we dont get news.

...And at the same time, the whole article is just moaning that we dont get news.

Seems to be a common theme on most of the message boards as well. Personally, PD could take 3 more years on it, and I'd be fine so long as the product reflected that time and hard work.

Kids need to take their meds, a few deep breathes, and RELAX. Today's news is the same as yesterdays; IT'S STILL COMING! Relax, unplug from the keyboard for a few days, and quite whining. It'll be here soon. Jesus!

Stop your fanboy minds and see the facts... in some points they´re right...

If GT5 comes after Forza 5 (Yes Forza 5) then it´s over for GT5... FM gets better and better... GT2 wasn´t perfect as well like FM2 nowadays... FM3 will be a big step for Turn10 like the step from GT2 to GT3 was for PD...

It´s the same thinking like "America is the greatest country in the world" and close your eyes for the rest of the world...

Dont call anyone a fanboy and then start trolling.
Seriously, why even post such comments like
If GT5 comes after Forza 5 (Yes Forza 5) then it´s over for GT5...

And btw. who cares?
If the next Forza is undoubtly better in any way then it is, so what?

But its wrong to say this now since we dont know how GT5 will be.
Maybe it will be the unbelievable crazy racing game we all want and then while playing no one will give a damn about all this stupid stuff which was posted now.

GT5P could sink PD if Shift (or some other game) comes out and is a better racer. The first thing everyone will do is compare them against each other. If Shift is half as good as they say it will be in 'pro' mode and makes GT5P feel dated or even if it's just a small step better, GT5 will lose many customers. We'll have a game with damage on all cars, we'll have Lamborghini, Porsche, the Ring, etc. Why buy GT5 at that point?

Personally, PD could take 3 more years on it, and I'd be fine so long as the product reflected that time and hard work.

I'd love to work for you, I'd keep on saying my work isn't quite ready yet as I'm perfecting it.:)

Anyway, Sony needs to shift some more PS3's cos we are in a recession and if other games companies can produce very good car games in a reasonable amount of time then PD should release the game now.

Why? Its ready! and that came from the horses mouth too.

See the problem now which PD face is this:

People have waited so long for the game now they will be expecting something truly outstanding, a product which will move the game on.

PD after see the Forza 3 video must be either really confident about their product and will announce the release of it before Christmas and ideally in September so we have enough copies of the games and PS3's to cope with the (huge) rush.

Or they absolutely crapped themselves and need to do some more work - and if they do peeps then what a massive FAIL on their part.

If GT5 does not come out in time for Christmas then PD will become a laughing stock if the game does not wipe the floor with Forza 3 in 2010.

The longer they leave it the higher our expectations rise and I'm not sure weather or not PD can meet them if they keep us waiting and waiting...........

I agree with this article. it's just ridicules how they're still keeping secrets from us!! maybe KY finds it fun to see the audience suffering and w8ing for his game. The game should have been released already, they can fix bugs with online updates!! why let us wait all these years then.

And for those people who's being comfortable saying " let the game take it's time ", Someday you'll all know how fool you are when the game takes longer and longer to release. I wouldn't be shocked if they don't announce release b4 2010.

Because everybody is freaking out here if somebody is ciritziting PD... That´s not fair from PD to handle the GT fans like this... The last GT5P update is nearly 1 year ago... Since then we get nothing more than a very short E3 trailer...

I´ve say it a many times,i´m sure PD waits till FM3 is released to see what FM3 can... If GT5 is more worst then FM3 they will blame themselves so thats the reason why there is no release date for me... If they see "ok FM3 is ********" then they release GT5 fastly... but if FM3 blows GT5 away then we will get this game in 2011... Kaz´s comments like "I never played any other game" are totaly ********... thats the wrongest way for a manufacterer...

Hope you are being sarcastic there, or you too have a highly fanboyish mind. Of course it's not going to come out after forza 5 .

I can't see what the fuss is about.

Im convinced during the TGS GT5 will finally be revealed including a release date. Im expecting this release date to coincide around xmas which is why im certain the 27th November release date is probably correct.

It was sarcastic :)

But some comments in 2006 that GT5 comes out in 2010 were sarcastic too :)

Good, but I think a 2010 release date was never out of the question anyway given the release date trend, and the huge scale of this game compared to previous GTs. Anything beyond 2010 though I think is out of the question, especially as 'they can release at any time'.

By the way,all the critics here and in some articles in the web are only for that reason that PD pays some attention and start thinking "damn give them people 2 screenshots and they´re satisfied for a month"

We all love PD for that what they´re doing... But their marketing is crap... or genius...

PD really need to do something after reading this article.
First of all give the damn release date, then unveil some in-game screenshots and features.

I think that in a way their marketing is genius. Amar put it quite well in the 'Forza definative trailer...' thread just a few minutes ago. It's the silence that builds up the excitement, and when it does release out of the blue everyone goes crazy, and in general seem to enjoy the game a little bit more as they don't know whats coming.

I kinda disagree. Majority of the time when no new info comes out for a while I'll lose interest in the game and forget about it until well after the game has actually come out. If new info is trickling out all the time I'll stay interested and be more excited when it comes out. But thats just me ;)

Some news on a german news page says that the people from ps3gen.fr got an actual release list from sony where GT5 is listed in 2009... the exact rls date is not clear, they say "to be announced"

But that list isn´t confirmed from sony right now...

By the way, a Singstar Edition with Michael Jackson will come too... damn everybody is milking out the michael jackson cow after his dead :(

I never followed a TGS before but when will we know the list of exhibitors?

oh look at this
Deadline for booth applications: June 12 (Friday), 2009
Selection meetings for booth positions: June 24 (Wednesday), 2009 <exhibitors with 40 booths or more›, July 1 (Wednesday), 2009‹exhibitors with 39 booths or less›
Explanatory meeting for exhibitors: July 1 (Wednesday), 2009

is PD in or out?:scared:

+1. 👍

I'm with you, let's see:

Forza 2 was released about two years ago. And in only that time, they have made the third part with reasonable general improvements. So, Im not going to blame Turn 10 if, for example, weather or rally are not included. But, with Gran Turismo 5 yes, why? Maybe someone of you don't see this fair, what the answer is simple, development time.

Four years, or more, is a lot. I expect a very refined fifth part in every sense.

And, as like the article says: "With so much effort behind it, there’s no real doubt that GT5 will be good. The question is, will it be worth the wait?"

And I think it's the first...that PD are confident. It seems clear that T10 have been trying to goad information out of PD, and yet PD are saying absolutely nothing. If they were worried, they surely would have started to let some info slip, like the number of cars or tracks to try to get some of the attention; but they haven't.

Plus the fact PD have been alluding to damage, weather, night racing, etc for GT5 long before FM3 was announced, and now FM3 is confirmed not to have weather or night racing, I suspect PD could be sitting pretty.

It's been said a million times before, but TGS really is the place to have a GT5 blowout, literally a couple of weeks before Forza releases to take all the shine away from FM3.

The most impressive thing for me though is that PD haven't been drawn into engaging into any slanging matches with Dan; they've kept quiet, and not slagged anyone or anything off.
