I think I'm going to get a Carerra wheel, can I join also? I know you guys are trying to help each other learn with the G25/G27, but I think this wheel is fairly similar.

loving hurricane's idea's and were this is all going in general.

I love the idea of learning as group, encouraging each other to improve through competitive racing. I would however be wary of how teams are formed, what size they are and how permanent they will be.

I'll take a page from my golf club. For group competition requiring teams we split the player names into three groups according to handicap(high, low and middle) then then form teams by drawing from these three groups in turn. Resulting in nice even teams with a player from each skill level. Any advantage would just be luck of the draw. Plus you get to meet and play with different people :).

Applying this here, maybe one weekend we could have practice sessions ending with everybody setting a hot lap. We'd then use the times to form teams, have a week to practice with your team and then compete with other teams the next weekend. players could get league points for hot lap position, team and/or individual race results!

Just brain-storming.

Just got my brand new G27 and wheelstand pro. Wires are still all wrapped up so as to preserve that "new car smell" for launch day.

I am in law school so won't be able to devote as much time as some on here, but will still love to meet up every once in a while with a group of mature gamers for a classy experience

Great idea thetossr about the hot laps, I think we know how we will form the teams, best two laps are team a and team b first driver. second fastest driver 2 for each team, etc etc,

so maybe we can see how many drivers we want for a specific team 4,5,6. I think the lap thing will gauge the high, medium, lower player skill the best. One lap test drive and we could even post them here or make thread to start off with some we can keep track. Hey i dont mind if i'm lower, with practice we'll all be better. we could spectate the lap of our future opponents/teammates. Like start times for the lap thing if most of us available, if not we can post them up here.

Update: we can decide if we are going to use premium/standard, if their is a certain car we can only use for our teams.

Hey guys, I am thinking about getting a g27

Thing is, My tv is pretty small and doesn't have a stand. So right now, when I play I sit cross legged on the floor and look at the tv (which is just sitting on the floor).

If I got a G27, I would obviously need to be sitting higher, and the tv being on the floor, I wouldn't even be able to see the screen clearly!

I am a college student so I have almost no room to put large desks or anything like that. Any ideas?

If you have the funds get a wheelstand pro^

With some getting the game early I was interested in the g27 compatabilty.
Ie. Button mapping to wheel for lights, wipers and horn etc.

Somebody out there must have GT and a G27 right now. Lol.

Are you in a dorm? How big of a TV is it? I assume an older, tube style tv. I suggest two cinder-blocks with a cut 2 X 4 or two to create a TV stand. Cinder blocks were my best friend in undergrad.

Very important decision, it will determine whether tuning skills will become a factor. This, like a few other things, will become more apparent what the best way will be once we get the game and see what lobby tools we have at our disposal. Car class for competitive races could be changed each week so that people could learn new skills. Will take a while though for people to build up they're garages so this probably wont be a big decision early on.

Thanks for the reply. Good to hear the lights and clutch work but what exactly do you have to do to enable those at the beginning of the race? Is it press triangle that I've been hearing about? What happens then is there an onscreen indication that the clutch and led's have been activated? when exactly do you press triangle?

I've googled for g27 coupons for the UK but no look. I might check out ebay then for a brand new one.

G27 user here. Pro physics, no aids. I prefer clean driving but am getting into drifting quite a bit. Count me in too.

G27 paddles, shifter, and clutch all work in GT5. As do the rev lights on the wheel. To enable the clutch, you can press triangle at any time after the start of the race, pressing triangle again deactivates the clutch. There is no on screen indicator that you've activated the clutch, but you will know quickly when you try to shift and it slams you into neutral.

Thanks for the information.

The g27 appears to be out of stock even at the logitech site and after reading there forums it appears the g27 has been out of stock for some time. Anyone know where I can get a G27 for no more than £250? (UK). I know amazon have them but there too expensive there £300+

Anyone reading this thread thinking about getting the G27, do not hesitate. It's worth every penny, and it's true that the clutch works almost like a toggle, but with some practice you can get used to the actual friction point and use it to your advantage like a real clutch. I pop the clutch on prologue all the time to initiate drifts.

As with GT5 Prologue, the G27 wheel isn't "officially" supported by GT5, and neither is the G25, but they both work great. The only downside is not getting to map every single button on the wheel, which you wouldn't have anyway with the cheaper wheels. But at least you'll have the clutch and the most silent, best feeling wheel out there.

Actually, the triangle will also be your worst enemy, as you get tired your shifts will get sloppy and you'll miss them.

If you find yourself missing shifts, make sure you push the clutch all the way in, you can't really feel the floor like you can on a real clutch and the game gets picky about a few millimetres. If that doesn't work, make sure you come completely off the accelerator/gas as well. I like to ride the clutch between shifts when going uphill to get revs, but the game doesn't let you do this.

Please don't say you ride the clutch in a real car.

Count me in! If racing online, i expect decent and fair behaviour, not destruction derby, driving backward and such. I'm confident everyone here plays fair.

I use (somewhat modded) G25

$175 is on the lowest possible end of what you'll find, but keep on the lookout for black friday sales. Logitech is apparently releasing a promo code for a G27 discount sometime this coming week.

Lmaoooooo

EVERYONEEEEE I HAVEE REALLLY GOOD NEWS!!!!!!! :D
IT SEEMS THAT IN GT5 YOU DONT HAVE TO PRESS TRIANGLE TO ACTIVATE THE CLUTCH ANYMORE THE RACE STARTS WITH THE CLUTCH ALREADY ON, GO HAVE A LOOK AT CHRISTHEDUDE'S MX5 VIDEOS HE MENTIONS IT IN ONE OF THEM :D

G27 user here. Count me in. I am from Holland (Europe for those that don't know). Have mine for aprox. 1 month now and getting the feeling of it in GT5P. The photo/car information thing sounds like a nice thing to do. Most important for me is to get feedback from other G25/G27 users to get my skills up. Because it is not that good at the moment. Has anybody seen some button configurations from the people that allready own GT5? This because I am currious about how to implement all the new functions like whipers, horn, high and low beem lights etc.

What you say is very important for me too. I hate it when people drive like that.

Hi everyone!! I have a G27 and am a total newbie to all of this, but I would love to participate in this league. I'm looking forward to learning from all of you! :)

Do you know if best buy sells or carry the g27 wheel?

AFAIK the g25 and g27 have no difference in the clutch. The only difference is more buttons, a bit different feeling gear shifter (I guess, haven't tried it myself) and some lights. I have the g25 myself and I only race with H-shifter and clutch.

Yea any wheel I will change the name once the league is made. I'm just waiting on the game so I can properly set the teams.

OK8

So i should just purchase g25 since its cheaper. And FFB is basically the same between each wheels right?

Also think league deserves a name and maybe a club. Any suggestions?

something clear and awesome, that gets across what we're about.

League of Logitech's :)

Front page updated with new users on the list. What I need from everyone is either to send in a PM or write on my wall what region you will be playing in. When I formulate the teams for the league I would like to try and spread it out so not all players from the US are on one team ect.ect. That is the best way I can think of so we can actually have people from different teams on at the same time for the races.
