Hey All,
Add me to the list please Huricane43, i just got my wheel and play seat two days ago and am very new to the whole thing. I am excited and think we can have a great time online with helping each other out, and getting ourselves better. Awesome topic.

Seems to be a good idea a place for Wheel noobs like me :P

Count me in G27 noob here

PSN ID- Asifx3me

From UK so need to get a suitable time for Euro and Americans and the Asians ofc :P

Hey Fame,

I just wanted to pass along an idea to you all. Assuming we have more than 16 names, which i think we already have. We can separate "our whole team" into two or three different smaller teams, so that everyone can help each other out and get familiar with the game. For example 16 players are online, would be with Team 1 (your team), and since we can't fit everyone onto team 1, we can designate a (team 2) with someone to designate that second team. We can have some sort of League or races as after several days of pracitcing, Example: Team 1 vs Team 2 (1vs1) (2vs2), have a bracket tournament or something like that. Single elimanation and team 1 and team 2 would referree the race and we all can spectate the race.

Just upgraded from the DFGT to the G27 and it was well worth the dollars spent gents.
(although im still getting the hang of the clutch and the six speed)

Team designations to cater for an expanding larger league sounds like a great idea to manage the increasing interest.

Count me in for some clean, competitive racin' and good times.

That sounds like a great idea.

Also chucking this idea out, could probably use a bit more thinking through though, when we get more acquainted with each other, we could create teams with other people within our respective divisions/leagues. Like a team comprising of 3-4 people (i'd say 4 max) as I suspect the amount of people using wheels will continue to rise rapidly.
That way, drivers in their teams can be ranked easier by skill, all opinion of other members in the team as a whole. Then when you have a league of teams, the teams can also be ranked. Sounds complicated now, but i think with a little more thought process, it could work well.

So for instance:

We have two leagues.

In the two leagues we have say 10 teams, which are ranked by wins/losses (via a points system)

Each team would have 4 drivers, which are ranked by skill. Meaning there are 40 drivers in each league, battling for the top spot!
(now obviously, ranking by skill would be hard and somewhat indecisive, I would say members of the teams would have to put it to a vote of who is the best in the team. This would also bring in more competitiveness and the drive for each person to do better than their team-mates, effectively raising their skill with the wheel and the game itself and overall, gaining respect for one another. Or this could also be done by wins/losses or something.)

So you would have a Driver's Championship Table and a Team Championship Table.

Just an idea, would be cool if we could get something like that going, and something like Hurricane's idead going, cause it would be something of an exclusive club/league, and out of it, will hopefully form respective members of the league :) We should be the creme de la creme of racers haha!:sly:

yeah this should a lot of fun. Practicing on GT5P now, just to get the dust off, gonna have to learn all over again on the 24th with new physics lol.

@Huggy, nice idea we can iron this out little by little, thats a good idea also, smaller teams of four.

Team A
Driver 1
Driver 2
Driver 3
Driver 4

Team B
1,2,3,4,

and so,

Maybe each week the top drivers from their respective team battle it out to see who's the best of all the teams, or the top two of each team battle it out.
Team battle-Team 1 all four drivers vs Team 2's four drivers, Team 3 and 4= 16 drivers. Team awarded points via what place you qualify. Just reverse the number in which you finish race. Driver who comes in first gets 16 points, last driver gets one point.

Now you may be crazy but G27 ffb has a little more dead spot than DFGT. That's probably because of G27 using helical gears which are a lot smoother than DFGT as well less turning resistance. If the dead zone is too small the ffb will fight you when you are trying to keep the wheel centered especially in GT series.
The disadvantage of helical gears are they apply more pressure up and down the gear and motor shaft. (normally gears and motor has a little play up and down their shaft.) This is probably why G27 is louder when the motors is turn back and forward rapidly when driving in dirt like Dirt 2.
I still prefer G27 helical gears over normal gears.

We can do something like a drivers showcase every week. Say every week a different driver gives us a few photo mode pics of what car they are currently using and write up brief summery of the car, like what they think of the vehicle in the game and how it handles on certain tracks. Every person can write anything they wanted to about their cars, every week it would be a different driver showcasing a different vehicle. That way we could implement photo mode into the league along sharing some knowledge on some of the vehicles. Drivers could volunteer to do it every week but the only catch is you cannot repeat the same car, (well maybe we will explore that further depending on how everyone else feels about it). We could turn that into a competition also, voting for the best summery of the month, best photo mode picture ect. ect.

I am trying change the font sizes in the OP so it would be easier for people to read. Do I have to be a premium member to use those features? If so I will become one and clean the OP up a little better so it is easier for everyone to read.

I'm looking to buy a G27 (UK) any good deals? I seen it for £240 at overclockers.co.uk but its out of stock and amazon they seem to go for £300+. Play.com don't have stock which leaves me with the official Logitech site for £250. So should I buy it now or wait?

Any news yet if it works with GT5? ie the led lights, clutch etc

Yes the led lights and clutch both work. It just has to be activated in the beginning of the race. I wish I could help you find a wheel but I'm in the US so I wouldn't be really any help. Ebay is a suggestion also their was a logitech promo code floating around for the US, maybe you could find one from the UK?

That also sounds like a good idea. Pretty soon we'll need a site for all this haha. :)

Thanks for the reply. Good to hear the lights and clutch work but what exactly do you have to do to enable those at the beginning of the race? Is it press triangle that I've been hearing about? What happens then is there an onscreen indication that the clutch and led's have been activated? when exactly do you press triangle?

I've googled for g27 coupons for the UK but no look. I might check out ebay then for a brand new one.

How do you know the clutch in G27 works?

How do you know the clutch in G27 works?

It was posted in a french video, some reviewer or something confirmed that it in fact worked. Also in the videos from amar and chris I think they are using the G25 but they are using the clutch. So I sorta just figured if it works with the G25 why not? Also with the French video I think its safe to say it works. I was wondering the same thing before I got my wheel.

Could you post that video?

Great idea Fame, about the time zone difference, I am eastern time zone, 1:15pm here in USA. we could make a north american, canada, mexico, etc etc time zone league, and a european ect etc league, since their is a big time difference in many parts of the world in regards to the time of day.

We could also just wing it and have teams made up of both different time zones.
