Too late for that haven't seen the fourth one but first 3 were good. First is still my fave though I think playability wise.




RSC2s shadows move, atleast the AI is evident unlike GTs scaletrix cars. Ermm as for the ring KY said himself that the PS2 didn't have enough RAM. So likelyhood is its using streaming.

This has been a hoot to read, Cobra is saying the Ring looks super real in that vid when it's low res and grainy and very clearley has 2d trees. It's accurate in terms of where everything is, the width of the road and angles of the corners ect, it's second to non for that, everything about GT is second to none for that exept the car models which are done better in games like GTR. As for the sounds, yes they are improved, but no they are not right for a race car, GTR on the other hand has the best engine sounds in a race game I've heared, compare thoes to GT4's and theres a massive difference in quality. Cobra, no one here is saying T4 is or will be a bad game, infact Code has said he expects GT4 to be the best racing game out there when it's released, that doesn't mean it's got the best sounds and grphics, they are the best on the PS2 and better than many racing games on other formats, but they arn't the best.

Live, I'm not even listening to code so dont even bring him in the mix. I'm not assuming anyone is saying gt4 is a bad game. I'm just talking about the visuals, the "looks." The nurb looks ultra realistic, sure the trees are 2d, so what? PD has so many trees on the track, and it doesnt matter if the trees are 2d, they look good in my opinion. GTR's cars look like ass, simple as that.

However detailed you say the GTR cars are, they look cartoony and fake. Sure, they may use alot of polygons etc, but the texture arent realistic

The graphics are super slick and smooth as ever, but having in mind the nick name ‘green hell’ then as you’d expect, it’s a little bland and full of trees and grass. What is there does look suitably organic and high res. The trees for instance do look like trees, not two textures at right angles on a pole. The environment also seems to be modelled entirely, the odd glimpses behind the trees seem very details and it all adds up to make sure you feel encased within the forest as the sun flickers between trees.

Yea. GT4 doesn't need 3d trees on the nurb, the nurb in gt4 looks ultra realistic due to the color work and global illumination. And there were scenes in that nurb vid that looked real and I'm not gonna hide my opinion in for no one. The vid was very photorealistic.

Look I'm not going to get drawn into this debate but for refference when I talk about graphics being superior I mean higher res, more poly's bump mapping ect, as for GTR's cars they are better modelled, you may think the textures arn't as good as they should be but the actual car model is great. As far as GT4 goes in graphics all you need to know is it looks great too, it doesn't need to have the best graphics ever, the graphics it has are good enough at this point in time, however 10 years down the line people will be looking at GT4 and asying how could you ever say thoes graphics were good. Bottom line, best graphics or not, GT4 is the most accurate game in terms of track an car model's (IMO it beats GTR because there are so many more of them), it does fall way short on GTR in sound quality, the engines in GTR are superb but it is better than GT3's sound by quite a bit, GT4 will be the best racing game out when it's released.

Altough GTR uses more poly's and hi-res textures for the cars, IMO GT4 looks way better and more realistic than GTR.

As for RSC2. A friend bought his Xbox and a copy of the game round a week ago. Nothing exciting. Just like any other rally game really. Been there done that many times. Oh and I hope Project Gotham 2 is a great deal better than the first one. So so dull...

I read in a little gt4 preview; the demo for bmw that the nurb did not have pop ups. Hopefully all city tracks dont have pop ups

yup, i downloaded the two samples. but none of the links to the full vid work,. and its still not up on gtplanet or that site.
