New GT5 footage of the Toyota-FT-86 Concept

I'm most excited about the track from the Ferrari California video. I love the huge dark cliffs and think they look great, very visually striking and certainly unique. I really, REALLY hope that the track is in the game, because I love the thought of driving the new Mercedes along that road at sunset

Has Kazunori/Polyphony Digital ever commented on these promo videos and the content within? I really want that track from the California video :nervous:

When I saw that new Toyota video with these remarkable stones at the side of the track, I wondered, where I had seen them before. Then I thought Top Gear (Clarkson - Thriller, too) and then the name came back to me "Stilfser Joch" on the Alps:
I SO hope, we´re looking at this mountain pass road with 48 turns leading to the summit at 2757m above sea level!

Maybe the 20 locations issue it's starting to have sence. Maybe 20 locations means 20 point to point tracks, or maybe it means that there are 20 locations, and in every location there are diferent point to point stages, like in WRC (and I think that it has more sence, because we can speculate that we saw two Tuscani stages: the one from the E3 trailer, and the other from the 458 trailer). Interesting. I'm really excited with these roads.

You might have to adjust your screen brightness but you can clearly see a distinguished gentleman with salt and pepper hair, very differnt from previous drivers we have seen(younger with glasses), can this mean we can use PS home characters as in-game representations?

its a smart looking car. 2.0 na boxer with 140bhp, possible upgrade to 160bhp when latest boxer engine comes out.

200hp 2.0 N/A That car wouldn't stand a business chance with 140/160hp nowadays.

They might just use those characters for these kind of promotional videos.
It would make sense that Toyota likes to have real persons driving the car in the video and not the fully equipped race driver from the game.

Who cares? I'm not going to install Home on my PS3 just so I can have a custom driver in GT5.

The EJ20 make's 190bhp easy and thats without D4-S.

I my OPINION, i think that by 20 locations, that means different areas of the world, for example, France, U.S.A , Italy, from what we have seen, there have already been over 14 different tracks in trailers and gameplay. Either way, the sounds seem improved, the tire screech too, i love those tracks in the video, great job by PD. :):)

160bhp is the output the car will have though, until they make upgraded premium versions.
The engine needed to be cheap and clean for the standard car. This is as planned, things may change when it actually goes on sale.

Please please please!!!

In the last part where the cars were drifting, did the tire smoke seem denser, it looked better than prologue, it lasted a longer without disappearing. Pause at 1:56 and you can see that the smoke last longer on the track.

^^^ That one mentions that it's based off the 160hp 2.0 N/A Subaru Boxer, but they even say it could be at 200 for Toyota duty. Otherwise none of the other articles I read specifies the power specifically for the engine in THIS application (Autocar mentions the next-gen Boxer making 160 but doesn't talk about a Toyota re-worked head). So I'm going to go ahead and assume 200 since that's competitive for this kind of car, this day and age.

Mazdaspeed3- 260
VW GTI-200/210
Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0- 210
Subaru WRX- 265
Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart- 230
Honda Civic Si-197
Ford Mustang V6-210
Chevy Cobalt SS-260
Chevy Camaro V6-300
Nissan Altima Coupe-265

Only the Mazda Miata gets away with 167. But this Toyota would need to be a handling marvel and would have to show the scale who's boss. Not to mention these are cars just in the American Market. The European and Japanese markets could be even tougher.

Not that I care or anything, but anyone notice the rear view mirror from the interior at 1:57? Is it suppose to be like that?

Well anyway, visuals could definitely pass as in-game. Hope it goes for the same with the sounds, especially those tire screeches.

He just did a slide with alot of smoke, could be that.

It's the same driver model used in the Ferrari California video, and (I think it was) in an Audi R8 gt5:Prologue intro movie. So he's been around for a while already.

Ohh my god! this video is absolutely stunning, I don't know why but I've got the feeling than this "roads" could be for photomode and/or WRC:drool:

Your list is composed mostly of premium models. Most of those cars have less expensive lower performance versions

Mazda 3- 150
VW 2 door- 170
Subaru Impreza - 170
Mitsubishi Lancer - 170
Honda Civic -140
Chevy Cobalt -150
Nissan Altima Coupe-170

Its not unreasonable to assume that the target market is along side these models with a performance or premium that will have more power coming later

I suppose it depends what you call the competition. I see it differently, in Europe it competes with the Mazda mx5 roadster coupé which is also 2.0 NA and has 157bhp. I am talking about the standard car, they will probably make higher power versions 200bhp+. Remember the last Toyota Celica coupe was a bigger 4 seat car which only had 140bhp 1.8 engine as standard. So even with a 140bhp standard engine for the new FT-86 concept it will be quicker as it's lighter/smaller. 160bhp will be more than enough for most. Personally of course i would like a 250bhp version.

Looks like a gigantic point to point course in the Eiger Nordwand to me. The course itself is new, but look at the background. I recall seeing a blocked off section on the Eiger Nordwand section (right before the "tunnel" portion, turn on GT5:P if you want to see what I mean.). This could be what is beyond that point.

Car looks nice, smoke looks slightly improved, tracks look nicer (i do think the new looking track is just an extra bit to eiger (or a remodelled eiger)

As for the sounds of the engine and tyre squeel, DEFINATELY DUBBED in...If not then ME NO LIKE (The sound doesnt match what the car is doing, even though it sounds like actual tyre squeel,it doesnt change right with the way the car is sliding)

I guess that would make it your loss, right?

Looking forward to not seeing you in the GT lobby:D.

I don't think having a Home avatar will be a requirement to participate in the online aspects of GT5, if GT5 even uses the Home avatars. However, if they do use it, and you don't have one, they'll just give you a generic driver.

i heard will around 200HP from a 2.0 Boxer engine probably 250HP I believe the max output will be 300HP (I hope):)

I won't lie.. this video made me smile! Finally some realistic tire squeal (even though it may be dubbed) and some possibly new tracks is pretty exciting.

If they did dub the tyre squeal, surely that must tell them the original sound wasn't up to scratch. Either way, it does sound goooood.
