Hi guys, welcome to week 6 of the driving skill competition. This is the new weekly competition where driving skill is everything. Each week a stock car and track is chosen the car CANNOT be tuned or modified in anyway as to give an advantage over others.

This week is the Pagani Zonda R at Nurburgring GP circuit ( 2 minute track and is NOT nordschiefle and GP track together) and tyre choice is RACING HARD. All aids are to be turned off except ABS on 1. Transmission and grip choice (low/real) is down to you.

The car must be accessed via ARCADE MODE!

Brake balance can only be adjusted if you are driving with ABS off, if you are using ABS on 1 you must keep the default brake balance.

This is an offline competition and you can do anytime, just choose the car through arcade mode then select the track. Everybody Is free to enter.

Please send in your best lap time stating whether you used ds3 or wheel (lap must not have gone red).

Its time to show your skill and race! Good luck everyone thanks for the support! Any questions just PM me and i'll get back to you ASAP! Enjoy!

When sending your times in please could you use the following format:

Driver: GTP name/PSN name
Time:
Transmission: Auto/Manual (if manual state whether clutch used)
Controller: DS3/wheel
ABS:
Brake Balance: Front/Rear (only applicable if ABS is off)

Also please state your updated time in a new post, do not simply edit a previous one.

The Week 6 leaderboard will be up later in the week!

I will also consider allowing previous competitors the ability to add their own times to the leaderboard to save time.

After the huge success of the previous weeks it would be great to get as many people racing this week. So get out on that track and have fun!

Also if this isn't enough of a challenge to satisfy your gt5 needs head over to the sister competition of the weekly driving skill competition (WDSC) which is called fortnightly driving skill competition and can be found under the 'gran turismo 5' section of the forums. The FDSC runs alongside the WDSC.

The 2min track?
Thats a big clue :)
Ive heard about the Zonda-lots of bad stuff-but should be okay on racing hards.
give this some time tomorrow after lunch :)

What a mongrel of a thing to drive!
Managed a 1:58.899 so far. Dunno if that's any good or not.
Rhubs

I did a few laps round Spa in it last week. Quite enjoyed it once I got used to it.

It can be pretty wild: massive power and a bit twitchy. I think the main point on this one is throttle control, make sure you are straight before hitting the power - maybe pick 3rd rather than 2nd as it will just spin up if you've got lead boots.

Exploratory laps with DS3 and family distractions yielded 2:03.2xx, so Id like to think I could lose 4 or 5 secs easily!

Thanks for the positive feedback on this combo! Thought it up in about a minute, because I forgot all about choosing the next combo!
I know week 6 has only just began but anybody have any great ideas for week 7, if so please PM me and I will definetly consider them!

Some good laps coming in already! Sounds like a real beast on RH!

Gonna give this go later if the pedals on my wheel stop playing up!

GP/F is the long one, D turns right just after T1. This car is a handful to get through that first sector, the rest is mainly just keeping up momentum through the sweeping bends. Oh and don't brake late for the chicane! :D

Thats a shame :(

Oh well, I cant please everyone each week! Week 5 didn't have as much interest as the other weeks despite having a very popular combo!

So phil, what would you like to see next week?

20 laps later i'm knackered, one loss of concentration and your lap is dead, as said this is a tough one but great fun.

Yeah tell me about, I hate that damn throttle! I drop down to 2nd gear only twice in the whole lap, just to reduce the chance of spinning.

Also good luck mac k! 👍

I see low 53/ high 52 taking top spot this week. I an aiming to break 54 soon. Good luck everyone, try and tame the beast :)

Urgh after half an hour of sheer frustration I made a PB:

Still reckon there's at least a second in it for me.

There's still a bit left in it, best I could do for the time being.

Had a go at this:

Driver: saidur_ali/saidur
Time: 1:52.950
Transmission: Manual (No clutch used)
Controller: Wheel (G27)
ABS: 1

I think 1:51's should be possible for the best drivers out there without probably investing too much time. I think I could probably get there but only putting quite a bit more time than them or probably just hitting low 1:52's. I probably won't give this another go, happy to at least get into the 1:52's.

This car is all about having good traction and keeping a good racing line around the lap. Well done everyone on their best laps so far 👍.

Wow awesome lap! I really struggle to be quick through the first sector without spinning, i'm fine through the rest. Best sector 1 times anyone? Good luck on improving on your time (if it's physically possible)! Anyway good laps everyone keep pumping them in!

Also very nice time mac k 👍 glad to see you competing again.

Thanks. Here is a tip if you are not doing so already, go full throttle when you got the steering wheel more or less straight on corner exit. My sector 1 time for the above lap was: 34.766. It was not my best first sector time though from what I remember but not that far away from it. I think anyone who does a 34.5XX or below is very close to the limit of what is possible in first sector.

I don't know if I'll really get a chance to attempt improving my time so that might be it for me. I think it is possible to get low to mid 1:52's for me if I get the other sectors up to scratch without putting too much time in but it is hard to nail a lap around this track with this car.

Thanks, I try to take a wide entrance on my out lap on the final corner and get the hammer down ASAP, my best over the line is 136mph, how about you? I'm fine through the last 2 sectors at not spinning it's just some of tge corners in sector 1 that lose me time. I will see how my first sector time compares.

Good luck getting mid 52 👍 hope you get another chance to run. Also have you tried out the FDSC? Thanks.

Not my favorite track or car. This is my best time after 5 laps, three of them red. I'll try a few more laps then go back to the Tamora/Nordy.

Got about an hour of play in, only managed 4 decent laps. 2.01, 2.00, 1.57 and then the one listed below. I'm hoping to get another couple hours in, tomorrow.

Frustrating sometimes, but good fun!

Might I recommend using the Calsonic GT-R GT500 on Fuji next week? That online tournament thats exclusive to Asian regions is going on right now using that combo, so maybe it would be good for the rest of us to have our own version as well? Just a suggestion.

Good idea! Is that car available in arcade mode? It would be cool to have our own version, what kind of setups are they using e.g. tyre choice, aid choices, is tuning allowed? Thanks.

Arcade yes, and they're on Racing Hards, not sure about driving aids and I'm going to assume tuning isn't allowed because the car is supplied when you enter the contest.

Going to enter this competition for the first time, for next week can I recommend the 100 Kart on Kart Space (this might not be popular with many people though).

Driver: GTP - gorsad/PSN - gorsad

Only did a few laps, I think I can get into the high 1:59s.

Imagine this car on Comfort Hards.
