Can someone please post the ghost for the Skyline Slipstream mission on the PAL game. XPS, or Max drive please.

Please please please please please please.

Mainly becase it seems to have changed from the Japanese version, the damn cars brake when they enter the corners which i'm sure didn't happen in the Japanese version.

By reading this thread, I think I found a key element in trying to clear these Slipstream missions. When I tried out the Amuse S2000 GT1 Slipstream Battle... by the way, that is a really fast car... I learned something in trying to pass the mission. Read on.

The most important thing I tried to learn is that when you have worked up enough speed in a car's slipstream, simply pass them when you have a chance to overtake. The next thing I learned on Test Course is to try to dive to the inside, or as us NASCAR fans would say, "digging" through the very inside of the track. When you get outside of the main slipstream, none of the other cars seem to follow you. GT4 mentions minimal steering. What I do is that instead of the analog stick, I use the D-Pad. I tap it to the left to get extra speed. When I dove away from the rest of the pack, none of the other cars followed me. Then when I seen a car come close, I re-enter the racing line and take my chances at shooting by the car. And then to make sure that I seal the deal, I dive right into the inside so that the other cars don't follow me. And if they do, my margin from the trailing car will decrease.

Assuming that this is the best way to get the job done, that's my suggestions.

ok, once i get my ps2 (dad is playing atm) I will put one up :)

So far i've done:

missions 1-10: (1-9 were easy, 10 was hard until i realised you can drive straight over the sand on the chicanes!!)
and two from the 25-29 series (trying to get the toyota 7)
both fuji speedway ones, the celicas and nissans.
The suzuka one should just about be doable but the 90 second wait every time its not perfect is very irritating. the laguna seca one is ridiculous, ive only made 6th so far compared to 2nd on suzuka... Likewise with the Infineon mission.

Can anyone suggest any hints to these?

Here is the PAL .max replay for mission 23.

I will accept any other requests to post replays for other missions.

I can use a .max file, but would it be possible to have that converted to say a .avi or something to make it easier? If not, no worries, but i would prefer to watch that rather than worry the seemingly unstable GT4 save on my memory card.

is this right? the idea is to pass as late as possible on the corners but still be far enough ahead that the other AI can draft you, so they draft on the straights and pass you as early as possible to make up the speed you need, then you're behind them entering the turn?

i get the idea of what you're all saying. just the actual place to pass and be passed is the difficult part

I gave it three attempts, first two were the 'Touring Mars' method... no point in telling you what that is, because it failed :( Third attempt was Famine's method as shown in Post #4 of this thread.... no further attempts were necessary... 👍

In essence, this mission is about teamwork... you can only catch the leader by allowing other people to pass you cleanly, as well as passing them cleanly yourself... the key point is to GET OUT OF THE WAY of the cars coming up behind you, and let them get past you fast.... the faster they are, the faster they will make you.... use the rear view button to watch them approach you and move aside to make sure they don't hit you... if they hit you, they cannot pass, and you won't be able to slipstream them...

i have no capture card, so sorry i cant convert it.

eastly you need a max drive.

Yays!

I swear the AI cars didn't ever brake on the Japanese version, I dunno second time round I managed to do it first time (Asian chineese version). On the PAL one something seems different.

Although the Le Mans R92CP mission was so much easier in the PAL version, I passed the Sauber just before the big straight on the last lap and was like 10 seconds ahead at the end of the lap. On the Japanese version, I barely managed to pass the Sauber on the second last chicane.

Save converter if you need to convert .max to .xps

I could give it a go capturing it, but I have no hosting space.

GT3 Time trials difficulty rating: 6/10
GT4 Driving mission hall 1lap magics difficulty rating: 1,000,000,000/1,000,000,000, literaly!!!

strange, i found mission 23 easy but sounds like you guys had a hard time  i didnt really have a technique just did whatever

Congrats to all of you Super GT racers! The missions are ..hmmm..hard.

My point is: can I win all the races in GT4 without winning the missions? For 100% of course I need the missions, but I just want to win some cars and race like in GT 2 .

Do you think I will be alright if I disregard completely the Missions?

Thanks

Yes, you can. The Missions have no bearing on the rest of GT Mode, other than the requirement to beat them for 100%.

Super Jamie : I wasn't intending to be rude, and if i came across that way, I'm sorry..

I'm getting well miffed with this mission! haha, I'll try the method in post 4 again, to see if i can get it to work for me as it didnt last time.. ah well... here we go again :-)

sorry for any offense that i may of caused, it wasnt what i wanted to do..

Another method that worked first time for me was letting them hit me.
Start off by getting out of their slipstream at about 172mph so that you start to slow down after you pass them. Then just stay infront of the closest car. Its that simple. When they start catching up to you on the straights, make sure they hit you. And sometimes a couple others will come flying at you, have them hit you too. Just make sure you stay infront, and have them draft on you. I won by like 3 seconds.

Thanks for all the tips, especially Famine, but I tried your way and I finished 4 secs behind the leader. The other AI cars don't wanna pass me, even if I let them. I'll try again tonight and see what happens.

And the damn #34 mission is the other I'm still missing. With all my abilities, I can't get closer than 10 secs behing the damn 300SL. And I remember you that I got gold in all licences, so I'm not a bad driver at all.BTW, is it normal that the 300 SL fini9shes at approx 9'12 secs?

Thanks

The entire mission hall can easily be completed by nothing other than practice, practice, practice. The question is however, how much practice can you take before you complain about it? I started asking questions after I completed roughly 30/34, with the hard ones being Nurburgring, #11, Superbird and #23.

You'll be fine if you don't want to partake with the headaches involved in mission hall. Some of it is however, quite fun.

I've done another run - just a hair over 7'04 - and sent the replay to daan, since my recording skills suck. He's extremely efficient so it won't be long.

You just have to remember four things.
1. Don't brake or change gear.
2. The yellow line is your friend. When not doing anything else, sit your right tyres on it.
3. Drive the straights on inside/reverse view and get out of the AI's way (to the outside) when they're about to pass.
4. Dive down the inside for the first half of the last corner, up to draft AI1 and back down to the inside.

On this run, I actually got mugged by the AI3 and lost about 0.5s through his interference. Bastard.

I managed a 7:03.254 last night using your technique - the advice is much appreciated 👍
